    I’m so glad I didn’t pick up the Beauty Bay pastels palette. I almost did so many times. I really enjoy my Nomad Tokyo Harajuku palette. But it is a sort of tricky palette. Your makeup in this video is BEAUTIFUL! And your hair looks amazing, as always!! I love the curls and the color is soooo pretty!💗

    Excellent video! Very detailed and informative. I watched some reviews from 2020 and some RUclipsrs said that they didn't like the quality of the Pastel Pup palette, but maybe the formula improved since then or maybe they weren't using the best methods for the shadow formula. Either way, I was hoping that palette would be on the list and I'm glad that its #1!

      I like some if they are done well, but often they just aren't done in a great way which is why I think so few people like them. It's so easy to turn them into a chalky mess.

    Very useful video! I'm after some nice pastels and I didn't realize they're such a unicorn to find! Almost all the palettes you mentioned are discontinued or out of stock :( I'll just have to be patient since it seems brands bring out pastels for Spring / Easter.

    • @FloatinginDreams

      Yeah especially indie brands struggle to keep up with demand. If you're interested in something, I would highly suggest following some brands on Instagram or signing up for their newsletters. That is usually a great way to stay up to date with releases and when things come back in stock.

    So happy I got the sugarpill fun sized palette before it was discontinued. Also, agree about wish they had a different shade than the two pinks. I would liked light grey in place of one of the pinks. And that should have been called game over.

    Have you ever considered the Glamlite Ice Cream palette? It's pricey but the quality is phenomenal and the potential looks are endless. The yellow matte is perfection!

    • @FloatinginDreams
      @FloatinginDreams  3 года назад +1

      I didn't get that as I a) do not like Glamlite quality (I tried the Cake palette and it wasn't a success) and b) I don't find it a pastel palette. It's mainly warm toned neutrals with a few pastels. Too expensive and too big for my liking and makeup preferences so I skipped it.

    I've been wanting VV Sugar Crystals for a while now. Buying it from Amazon would cost me about 55€ 🙈 I wish it was available in EU... 😔 It's a beautiful palette.

    • @FloatinginDreams
      @FloatinginDreams  3 года назад

      That's what I paid for it. It's the same if it had been available from the official website (if you account for shipping and handling fees) and probably similar if it had still been available from Beauty Bay (they used to sell VV). I paid around €55 for the Hashtag palette when they were still available in Europe. Even if a brand like this becomes available in Europe you will often pay a premium as you still have to pay for the fact that the product was imported. You are just not importing it yourself. That's why we also pay much more for brands like Milani and Flower Beauty.

    I love using the fun size and Tokyo harajuku palettes but you're correct that the harajuku palette isn't as unique or versatile as it could have been. i do like that the neutral tones can be used for brows or eyeliner or something if I'm in a pinch.
    the blues and purples in fun size are incredible and very blendable!!

    Hi Maaike an interesting video. I don't think I need a completely pastel palette as I don't have a massive collection, but it was interesting to see what is available. I'm super pale so theoretically pastel palettes would be good on me (I'm always complaining there aren't enough light shades in palettes), but many of these aren't well rounded enough for my makeup needs. I never use black shadow (I did when I did the goth thing in my teens lol), as it's just too much on my skin tone. If I want a black liner then I use a black liner, rather than an eyeshadow. Having a lighter palette with some pastel shades, rather than a pastel palette is probably more of what I would want. I never wear yellow and rarely wear peach, blues are usually a more muted part of my eye look and greens I usually pair with neutrals. Pinks and purples I love, but I can find those in pink or purple themed palettes. At 49 I think I perhaps want a slightly more muted look - pairing pops of colour with neutrals, or a gradient of the same tone in an eye look. That's not to say I don't like more colourful looks on other people and in fact like the blue look you're sporting today. I was a teen in the eighties and perhaps feel like I would be trying to recapture that makeup style again with so much colour. I will be interested in the other top 10 videos to come - especially the purples lol. Best wishes.

    • @FloatinginDreams
      @FloatinginDreams  3 года назад +1

      The purples will be more than 10 palettes I'm sure as I have many more purple palettes. But in your case I think you might like the Huda pastels palettes as those still have quite a few light neutrals or her Mercury Retrograde as that also has mainly neutrals with some pastels thrown in the mix.

    • @lorainemcgillivray77
      @lorainemcgillivray77 3 года назад +1

      @@FloatinginDreams Yes the retrograde is on my wish list and something I will buy soon. I think that and the lilac pastel palette from her (both recently shown by yourself) are more my aesthetic. x

      They are definitely more difficult to get a hang of. Keep practicing to find color combos that work. If you want to see a look I did with Min to Be, I posted an hour long review of 10 of the monochromatic Colourpop palettes last year in April. I do a look with each of the palettes, incl. Mint to be.

    The violet voss just randomly pops up somewhere from time to time, but it's like hide and seek. I was actually looking for a perfect pastel palette for so long, that I just ended up getting some CP (mint to be, sailor moon and the new Lizzie) and the Lost in LA by BH and I think I'm good now. I may grab the Sugar crystals or one of the pastel Huda palettes, when I see them on sale. Or I'll ditch my moral standards and get Voldemort's Jawbreaker 😁

    • @FloatinginDreams
      @FloatinginDreams  3 года назад

      The Lost in LA looked like it was something I might like at first, then I thought nah, now I'm like: hm maybe it might be nice. I'm still very much on the fence about that one. Jawbreaker has only a handful of true pastels. It's mainly brights.

    • @Lennroe
      @Lennroe 3 года назад +1

      @@FloatinginDreams The Lost in LA has some kinda unique shimmers and the colour story is just a bit diferent from the others, on one side it's cool, on the other side, you kinda have to think before you create a look, but the quality is really nice. For me it was an easy choice as I didn't have any pastels, so they were all new to me.
      With the Jawbreaker, I like the overall palette, but I'm mostly tempted by the blues in it as I'm not really excited about any other pastel blues, that I've seen anywhere else.

    Since you mention longevity. What do you do to make your makeup last? Are your GRWM videos representative for what you do day to day for a long workday?

    • @FloatinginDreams
      @FloatinginDreams  3 года назад +3

      Yes my GRWM are exactly how I always do my makeup. I have dry to normal skin though and I don't need much coverage. What works for me: good skincare that is left to sink in before makeup application, a good primer, only setting with powder is targeted areas, double priming my lids and a setting spray. Working in thin layers and allowing time to set in between is key too.
