A better test would be to use the auto seek feature with the original antenna to see how many channels it picks up then replace it with the short one and see if it picks up the same channels then it will tell you if it really works cause on mine I got more channels with the larger one and less channels with no antenna and also the same amount with this short antenna which at least for mine it shows that it works just as well as having no antenna and your just spending $30-40 on something that you could just remove and get the same results
