This mod replaces Richard Epcar's battle voices for Ansem in Kingdom Hearts III ReMIND PC with Billy Zane's battle voices from the first Kingdom Hearts.
Version 1.1 fixes Radiant Garden Ansem field voices so they are not Richard Epcar's. This fix was absent in version 1.1. Download link has the mod and it's the fixed version of the mod.

In my opinion, Billy Zane was perfect as Ansem Seeker of Darkness, but the role of Terranort is brilliantly displayed by Richard Epcar. Billy has the deep dark menacing voice for Ansem while Epcar delivers Terranort's brutality pretty well.
Epcar has that ruggedness of a teenager still getting a handle of his untapped strength, and trying to seem more intimidating.
Zane has that sophisticated class of someone dedicated to science and lets his strength speak for itself. Rarely even sounding like he needs to put in an effort.

This sounds great. it's like if Billy Zane came back to reprise his role.
Actually he'd like to, but Square made up their mind. Nobody knows why, but they simply didn't contact him after the first gig, some believe that it had to do with a messed up movie he participated in. And I'm not sure if Ansem could actually appear again. I mean, apparently he is also Terra's heartless, but I doubt that he'll lose his heart so quick again.

@@d4rksonic474 they should’ve gotten someone like Clancy Brown to do Ansem Seeker of Darkness after Zane left instead of Richard. Epcar is decent enough for Terranort. I just prefer the lowkey almost soothing sounding Ansem.

Luckily mods can fix that and it one of the mods I want to see in KH3 and may even attempt myself.
@@KHDecoder Still don't understand why Ansem does not have his own Guardian in battle? Ansem is from the past, so his Guardian should be from the past as well while Terranort's Guardian should have been from the present.
@@thexreaper6930 I’m pretty sure the reason is that the guardian was Terra. There is only one Terra in the current day, so Ansem and Terranort share the guardian in KH3, as seen when Ansem uses it in the RoD or in Twilight Town. Ansem never uses it in a fight because Terra is restored after Terranort’s defeat.
@@johnsargent7706 actually Nomura made a mess at this part, it looks like that when terra/xehanort was recompleted, only xehanort soul returned, so he transfered himself to an artificial vessel and became the old man again (that's why he referred himself as the xehanort from the most recent moment in the timeline, instead the Terranort version), and gave his body to terranort from past, so this Terra that we saved was from bbs ending, and the present Terra just disappeared. Yes we had two guardians stand users at the same time, Terranort, and Ansem, (remember that "you are wise" finger gun scene?) But during the keyblade graveyard only Terranort used the guardian. (probably to give Ansem a different moveset)
When I asked this someone else, that's the answer they gave me.
I just don't understand why Nomura did this mess. Just to keep the old man the main villain? It would have been more simple to put the apprentice xehanort form as the most recent version, the old man as a time traveller, you could have freed terra during some events before the final battle, and after xehanort lost his body become some strange armor vessel, kidnap some unused vessel like roxas did or incorporating as one different kind of being (we had 12 different kind of vessels without souls in scala anyway). Then proceed with the final as planned. Would make more sense I think
@@user-mf5iw9pl9j umm no. The Ultimania and Remind confirm that the Terra saved in KH3 is present day Terra. Terras heart had been trapped in the guardian since BBS (sometimes returning to his body to fight for control). This is the same guardian used in KH1 by Ansem, KH2/Days by Riku, DDD by time travel Ansem, and in KH3 by time travel Ansem and time travel terranort. When Ansem and Xemnas were destroyed in KH1 and KH2, Terra and Master axe hamlet were brought back separately. Master Xehanorts heart returned to his old body, while Terras body was empty (since his heart was still in the guardian). So Master Xehanort pulled Terranorts heart from the past and put it in present day Terras body. That’s why once Terra is saved after sending Terranort back to the past, the guardian is no longer around for Ansem to use.
YES!!! FINALLY!!! Billy Zane is Ansem once again!
If only we had a Just a Pancake Ansem SoD Voice Mod now.

I think what nobody is realising is that it’s not just Billy Zane’s voice that we’re missing but the actual CHARACTER of Ansem. They changed so much of his base character after kingdom hearts 1 that he’s almost unrecognisable now. In the first game, he’s this mad fanatic dictator barely holding it together and that’s what makes him intimidating but the newer games have really neutered him. I love Zane’s acting but it’s only half the reason we miss KH1 Ansem so much.
Id like to believe it’s because now he had an understanding of what needed to happen. It needed to happen exactly the way it did.
This is fantastic. I would have loved his "But why..." from the end of KH1 as his death quote.
The perfect reality would have Billy Zane as Ansem and Richard Epcar as Terranort.

Nothing against Richard Epcar but Billy Zane is the superior voice of Ansem. His voice just radiates an diabolical villain but with a hint of class like he’s truly superior to you
I prefer Richard Epcar these days, but one cannot deny that Billy Zane had _class_ in his performance. Now what I need is a Leonard Nimoy mod for old Xehanort, even if I don't think we have enough battle quote material from BBS.
Yeah, their first replacement was not very good. Christopher Lloyd isn't bad though.

@@ryaku5 Leonard Nimoy is the original, and he'll always be the best in my book, but I enjoyed the late Rutger Hauer's and Christopher Lloyd's respective takes as well, and I think they each embody a side of Xehanort's personality. Nimoy was basically channeling Emperor Palpatine whenever he showed up, fitting for an evil mastermind. Hauer brought with him a "cold calculating" tone with a tranquil fury and a shade of humanity that I don't think Nimoy's take could have convincingly performed in that bombastic tone, and that's why I think Hauer's voice works best in the ending of KH3 (which makes sense why he could do a scene like that; after all, he WAS the man who did the Tears in Rain monologue from Blade Runner). Lloyd is a perfect middle ground between Hauer's calculating accent and Nimoy's ham-tastic delivery, projecting the image of a man self-assured in victory. All in all, I may prefer Nimoy because he's Nimoy, but I see all three as equals.
Richard Epcar is cool and has definitely improved over the years (and honestly could easily be the default voice for Terra-Xehanort), but at the end of the day Billy Zane will always be the guy.
Imagine if you got Billy Zane to act out all of Ansem's lines from KH3.

As much as I love Richard Epcar, I've always preferred Billy Zane cause he just fit the character better imo.
I think they are equal, Billy has this calm yet menacing demeanor, Richard can be pretty sinister and his voice itself shows power/confidence - like he has complete faith in darkness.
This is dope, I really wish he would have come back. His voice was what made Ansem one of the best villains ever.
I miss Billy Zane. I love Richard, but THIS was Ansem to me.

I love how the fight ends with Sora going Rage form. It's like he really did embrace darkness to defeat Ansem. Love this mod, shame I don't have the game on PC.

IRL circumstances are a shame, coz maybe we could have kept Billy Zane for much longer. It's hard to say how long he would have been able to stay as Ansem.
The thing is, though, for continuity's sake, it has to be Richard Epcar. Terra-Xehanort is also hammy, but he's more brutish compared to Ansem's theatrical bombast, so I'm not so sure Billy Zane could NOT sound refined and grandiose if he got to do Terranort too.

So in the end, Sora submitted to the darkness, only to still deny Ansem's control and proceed to beat the darkness out of him
What these organization members fail to realize is that the light is actually holding Sora back from wrecking everything lol
I love Richard Epcar and he did a great job but this is the way that should be with Billy Zane
I really enjoyed Billy Zane as Ansem in KH1 but I absolutely think Richard Epcar has done well with the role. Especially with the Ansem’s Death cutscene in KH3, Epcar managed to make me feel bad for Ansem. You could feed the regret behind the voice for his actions and fate
They should've gotten Billy Zane to reprise his role man. Now Richard Epcar, he to me is the voice of Terranort, but Billy Zane was how Terra fully became Ansem seeker of Darkness

Death took these KH VAs from us WAY too soon. I’m glad that there exists a way to preserve their voice lines here in KH3.
Edit: Okay, so I am wrong about Billy Zane passing away. I will admit to that.
But one does have to question, “Why was he passed over to reprise his role as Ansem SoD for Richard Epcar, who voices not only the former role but also Terra-Xehanort?”

This makes me miss the hell out of Billy Zane. His voice for Ansem was sooooooo much better. The current voice sounds very generic.
Richard Epcar is decent, but I think he should voice Terranort while leaving Ansem SoD to Billy Zane.
Now let's change Sora's voice back to kh2 Haley Joel Osment. He's too happy in kh3 "Here we go!"

I think the KH3 model doesn't quite suit his voice though. The Unreal Engine face seems a bit softer to me than the original in a way that throws the voice out a bit.
It's a better fit for the smug sharp face he has in kh1
