  • The first new coaster to open at Dorney Park in 19 years is a brand new dive coaster from Swiss manufacturer B&M. The ride sends riders over a 95 degree drop and into 4 different inversions. It's the headlining attraction of the new Steel Yard in the back of the park! Let's dive into the details of this attraction and its pro's and con's!

      I don't usually care for theming and I don't think it adds anything to a ride experience. But why even do it if it looks like crap? That literally just looks stupid.

      @maxhagenauer24 Месяц назад +20

      I think they have gone a bit of a cheaper route by buying cheaper steel because the price of steel increased so much. I don't know of that is the issue of the roughness but it's very sad to hear from the most reliable roller coaster manufacturer.

      @jonny-b4954 Месяц назад +15

      @@maxhagenauer24 Nahhh, most roughness nowadays comes from the trains. And B&M has always overbuilt their trains and has the best chassis in the industry. B&M has never been a discount manufacturer, always the premium one. So, I don't see them really trying to save money like that. Just increase the price and they have their 2-3 jobs they take on every year no matter what. I'd say it's just because of the train design. They may have been making cut backs there, or trying to streamline/lighten it. Maybe to compensate for the floors that are now on the train instead of a floor in station that lowers? So they weakened support elsewhere to compensate for weight? Who knows. That bump at the end turn though has to be a defect.

    I got to ride Iron Menace last Saturday and I agree with your review. The elements are all great and I love that the pacing brings one right after another. I did notice slight rattles in certain spots but they didn’t bother me. The jolt at the end is concerning but not towards riders getting hurt as it’s not painful at all. I worried what it will do to the train and track over time. Hopefully it will get corrected by the beginning of next year at the latest. So. Dorney is a homepark of mine. I finally was able to get on this. 3 times in all three rows. My thoughts.
    Its a good soild ride, perfect for Dorney as Dorney is not a large scale park.
    It has great pacing and i love there is no mid course break.
    Themeing is great but the ride operators are now back in usual cedar fair uniform just fyi. I think that was only for the opening week they where dressed as iron workers.
    It does have a pothole during that wrap around though and its a little rought through the inclined loop. Besides that its a solid ride.
    FYI before anyone asks and i seen this commemt before on why Dorney didn't expand it or expand behind iron menace and steel force. Reason, the park is in Whitehall township and city ordinance state that every paved area on your property you need to have equal parts grass. Its stupid but why Dorney cant develop towards the back of the park.

    That entrance into the brake run makes me think of Raptor's entrance into the brake run. On Raptor, my head pinballs between the bricks next to our head if I don't brace for it. I am a fan of the vest restraints for the no-headbanging, however, it does seem that there's something to the design of B&M's vest restraints that make it more likely to rattle, even when brand new.

      @AceAviations2 Месяц назад

      To be fair to Pipeline, it's a prototype with first-of-its-kind trains, so there are likely some issues that need to be ironed out with the model. Future installations will likely iron out some of the kinks it has.
      Also Nemesis/Reborn is known for being very intense, so that could cause some issues.

      I rode Pipeline last July and don’t recall there being any rattle it was pretty smooth. However Kraken was so terribly rough that I blacked out on the first drop. I think floorless coasters just get rough over time however I think the rattle that is apparent on new B&Ms is due to the change in the type of steel being used.

    • @CoasterCore297
      @CoasterCore297 Месяц назад

      Was gonna say. Nemesis Reborn I think is down to the trains. They are not brand new but instead refurbished.
      Mandrill Mayhem is another newer B&M that is horrific ride quality

    • @danblanchfield4918
      @danblanchfield4918 Месяц назад

      Orlando local here who has been riding Pipeline probably more than someone should lol - Pipeline actually doesn’t have a rattle in the way it tracks, it instead has a rattle directly in the seats/restraints. If your feet are flat there is zero vibration but the shell of the seats you can see vibrating.
      I did get to do Dr. D and it was pretty bouncy for a new ride, so I do agree that the quality has gone downhill. It’s unfortunate because Sheikra remains glossy glossy smooth.

    I think I know what causes that issue at the end of the track and it’s a maneuver B&M has done since it’s inception and should have been accounted for. When the train starts leveling out laterals forces are introduced, and when these laterals are introduced it seems like the train absolutely can’t handle the sudden shock of the forces. All that energy transfers from the wheels to the riders and bam you have a very bad jolt. The only way I see this fixed is B&M developing new trains or increasing the strength of the springloaded wheels, but that’s my theory.

Compare ttd and tt2 off ride footage... the old intamin trains did not rattle left and right.
    Maybe there are less points of contact between the train and the seat, so vibrations are amplified? Again, no idea. Eventually b and m will have to put those shock obsorbers from the new standup model/surf coaster in every seat

    Lets be honest. Great that Dorney finally got some love but Menace isn't still the powerhouse this park needs. A Multi Launch back where Dinosaurs Alive would be that Headliner Dorney needs.

    Since European coasters are never picked as the best new coaster of the year this is probably gonna be chosen as the best new coaster of 2024 by the golden ticket awards

      I don't know about that, I could 100% see Voltron winning best new coaster of 2024

    • @NathanHydra
      @NathanHydra Месяц назад

      @@CoasterStudios either Voltron or Hyperia deserves to win 100%. Yet Gotham City escape wasn’t even in the top 5 last year, it was under Zambezi zinger and big bear mountain. In 2021 Texas Stingray and condymonium made it into the top 5 over ride to happiness. In the past 5 years only 2 out of 20 rollercoasters appearing in the best new rollercoaster category are from Europe, 1 was from Canada and the rest are all US. And that’s a competition that claims to have no bias towards any countries.

    it is quite weird how most of these new b&ms have some kind of rattle or jolts, b&m must have changed something with how they manufacture there rides recently, and its weird because they used to be known for smoothness.

    B&M makes a bad coaster like vortex every now and then but most of their rides are butter smooth and RMC makes glass smooth rides

    At 5:30 you mentioned a "lift walk"
    I've rode coasters for almost 30 years and this is the first I've heard.
    Enlighten me.

      A lift walk is when you climb up the lift hill in a guided tour from the park

    Per that last turn, i think its just a strong lateral. Like the helix into the break run isnt smooth and aligned and you can see the track have to go left to compensate for overshooting the turn so to speak. On wildcats revenge, those moments of laterals are fun. Here, it causes concern. Which is odd because i have always complained thay b and ms are getting too boring and graceful. I miss the 90s intensity, whip, quick transitions. But as soon as a b and m has some bite, we all get confused and dont like it.

      it is possible to have strong laterals without a jolt like that.

    Question - Does Coaster Studios have a dress code? I noticed everyone wearing khakis and a shirt with the logo. Also I heard the term "pop" at the end, as a reference to the GP, lol. As much as I laughed, I do see ties to a certain National Socialism party......and as a Democrat, I support yall 100% Praise Palestine! Release the Sarah Pair!!! Yeet Yeet
