I am a pediatric Occupational therapist with 11 years of experience in child therapy. I completed my Bachelor's from Saveetha college of Occupational therapy, Chennai and Masters from the University of Brighton, London. Hi, in your case if suffocation is happening regularly to your child, avoid cradle u can use crib with a firm backrest.

In my home babies will be put in thotil only after 11thday (Punyajanam function) until then can I keep the baby in crib and then shift to thotil also should I swaddle for thotil too?

Could you please clarify this to me. When the baby is in the thotil I see that his chin is touching his chest, so I feel he'll not feel comfortable and he might have any trouble with breathing. Is it okay to be like that?
Hi, chin shouldn’t touch the chest to the point it cause breathing difficulty in the child, adjust the cloth at the head part or loosen the cloth of the thotil at the head part to let the baby sleep comfortably. Hope this helps.

Maam, which is the right age (months) of baby to use cradle??
U can use from the first day , but safer to use from 1st month
My daughter is 4 months old and sleeping only in thottil. Whenever we are travelling or outside its difficult to make her sleep without thottil. She usually wakes up frequently and starts crying if she is not getting good sleep. Using thottil I can rock her and put her to sleep again.
How and when can I change this habit and make her sleep next to me in the bed ?
Hi, I know kids can be quite demanding at time.. try rocking her on your lap first and let her sleep on your lap for few times and then slowly shift her to your side placing her as close as possible to you.. each child is different so as there behaviours, find a best way to handle your princessess. @@Akshadhacdc Thanls for the response mam. She had the colic issue for the first 3 months. She refuses to sleep with crying most of the times. We found swing is the only option to make her sleep. Even in the swing she wakes up frequently and starts crying. My worry is will she outgrow the swing habit as she grows ? Since she is a fussy baby and light sleeper she feels safe inside the swing.

Is swaddle necessary in summer? My due is on may 1st. Does swaddle them in summer make them hot?
Summer and the heat depends on the baby... You can try swaddling in an organic cotton baby wraps or towels, which could make them feel safe. Happy parenting and my love to you ❤️

My son is 6 months old he wakes up immediately after I take him out of my breast. I am trying to sleep train for the past 24 hours. He slept only for 6.5 hours in his bed. He also slpt while nursing for some time. What should I do please help.

Hi mam...now my baby 125 days ... She completed 4 months in bed and crib.. not in thottil.. I didn't see my baby head is flatting.. now she have flat head at back side ( right side) I don't know these informations before itself. How can I resolve this problem... If I start using thottil now.. afterwards baby head comes as round ah mam .. I m so depressed by this ... So much guilty as I made a great mistake to my child... Kindly help me to come out this

One of the well known pediatric dentist told me not to use thuni thottil as it will cause snoring issues later.. I would like to know if it is true?
Snoring in any individual is caused usually due to structural changes in their mouth or sinuses, overweight, any allergies or due to alcohol consumption. There is no link between cradle and snoring as far as I know and there is no research papers that do support this too. So, what you heard can not be true! Thank you.

Yeah u can use cradle when u can't use Thottil. But whenever u feel the baby is uncomfortable, swaddle the baby. Happy parenting and please don't give any gadgets to your baby untill they are 3.
