  • Georgi Pavlovich Vinogradov (Георгий Павлович Виноградов) sings The Demon, act 1, scene 3, "On desire's soft fleeting wing" by Anton Grigorevich Rubinstein (1829-94), with the All-Union Radio Committee Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Alexander Ivanovich. (Yes I'm sorry there's a typo in the spelling of "symphony" in the credits).
This recording is from a 78 rpm record, USSR 12318, recorded in 1945. It is now available on a CD: Guild GHCD 2250-53 (2003).

One of Russia's most stunning and emotionally touching nightengales! Easily
the equal of Lemeshev, Sobinov or the other tenor greats! Liquid, dreamy melody,
this music has an exotic touch showcasing the vast talent of Vinogradov's vocal and
interpretive brilliance. Thank you, Linda, for posting this rare and marvelous gem!

Ah, yes, it's about the piquancy of desire isn't it, and he captures that perfectly. Thank you so much for your marvellous comment, Kievest, and thank you, GP,. for sharing that song with us all.
