Nobody ever said Ankalaev would submit Alex, we saying he has a chance to out wrestle him and control him, the way he did against Blachowicz in rounds 3,4,5
Do you honestly think the pereira that fought Jan coming off of a ko loss in the same pereira today? If Jan were to fight Alex today I guarantee you Alex would sleep him in round 1.
@@Silentkidgaming He still finished rountree in round 4 and showed insane pull counter combinations that none of these LHW’s can ever pull off. He was also sick going into that fight, thats no secret. I’m not saying Ank isn’t capable of beating Alex but he’ll have to be perfect for 5 rounds. This ain’t an easy fight for anyone and those who think so know nothing about this sport.
A big factor of why some BJJ black belts like Dustin look terrible is It really depends on who awarded them their belt was who taught them. How effective their teaching may have been. I’m no bjj expert, I only have a blue belt but ive seen guys in my gym who have their blue belt go back and forth with brown belts. I can’t do it like them, there’s levels. Also wrestling+jiu jitsu is op base.
Some bjj black belts are only elite in certain positions for example gilbert burn’s specializes in sweeps & reversals off his back, aljo specializes in back takes, charles specializes in subs…some black belts are only elite in positions they specialize in but are exploitable in other areas,i see so many guys who have an elite top game but look like a fish out of water when they get put on their back & vice versa
Who knows man. I would love for the ufc to have fighters fight at there natural weight more. But I also can’t blame fighters for cutting weight. If you don’t do it then you’re at a massive size disadvantage
Ankalaev's wrestling is a secondary weapon that comes out only when his striking is not working. Ankalaev's Smith win was not a great win, but it's better than you're making it seem. Remember, that was 7 fights ago for Anthony Smith. At that time, Smith was on a 3-fight winning streak all via finish in the first round and was ranked 5 in the light-heavyweight division. Yet Magomed dominated him and finished him in under 2, including outwrestling him. Smith is a good grappler with several submissions over great opponents. Additionally, Ankalaev should have won that Blachowicz fight, almost everyone but the judges scored that match 48-46. The vast majority of MMA media, Joe Rogan, Jan himself (initially), all thought Magomed won. As for the Pereira matchup, Pereira's leg kicks will be somewhat neutralized as Magomed is a southpaw. And remember, Magomed doesn't need to be some Khamzat-level wrestler to effectively wrestle Alex. Jan easily outwrestled Alex and Magomed outwrestled Jan. If it comes down to it, Ankalaev will takedown Alex and hold him there.
@@BunnyMMA I feel I should have added that this fight is extremely close and both fighters can win. I feel that a finish is more likely to come from Pereira, but I don't see Pereira winning via decision. However, I can see Magomed winning by either decision or finish, but the finish is less likely. Magomed might expect the grappling to be easier than it will be and could gas himself because of that, but at the same time, Magomed genuinely has the power to hurt Alex on the feet if and only if Alex underestimates him because of Magomed's inability to finish guys like Rakic and Santos.
You dont have to be LHW Khabib to take down Pereira lol. Id say Ank cuz of 2 reasons. Hes a southpaw and a good boxer, better than Khalil. And Alex struggles against that + he doesnt have the calf kick availablity when facing an opposite stance. If his coaches make him mix it up hes taking Alex down np and can potentially get 10-8's or a finish with G&P. If Ank could outwrestke Jan with 0 leg drive, he can do it to Alex. Its just a matter of gameplan cuz Alex will have shit ground game either way.
You gotta make these kinds of videos man keep it up your channel will grow in no time
Thanks so much man! Much appreciated
The reason Islam submits all the jujitsu black belts is because UFC isn’t jujitsu, it’s MMA.

If they fight above their weight class on fight night what’s the point of the weigh in and weight restrictions?

Ankalaev just looks like a wrestler , he is definitely not a straight wrestler like most people think
Agreed
People hate strickland but never keep the same energy about other volume strikers also he has has more kos in the last 5 years that Whittaker does 😂
Decisions≠boring, Whittaker has a way more entertaining fight style and has had way more entertaining fights

Yeah but Strickland even admitted he fights like a bitch on purpose on JRE lol
To be fair though, paulo costa ran away from sean the whole fight, it takes two to tango.
