I'm already getting ready, playing through zero mission, super metroid, and fusion. It's all making me realize why I fell in love with the series in the first place
@@TLcool4 well. I've seen some recent metroid fusion recaps on local game reporting channels and some of the comments man. "Are there no games left or why do you report this crap" broke my heart. Not in agony about feeling personally attacked, but nin sadness about the young generation kind of proving that humans beat evolution and since practically every dna strand has the possibility to breed, not only the best ones. (When I started this sentence, I didn't think it would turn out to be a punchline against about half a generation. I'm sorry future generation, but also not sorry. Just please, prove me wrong.)
As I recall, they have been explained as being an aggressor species with their own fully developed civilization who are expanding into the Galactic Federation's territory. The Federation doesnt know what they call their species, so they have been unofficially officially dubbed Space Pirates due to their penchant for raids and ambushes as opposed to fully-committed interstellar war. Given how they act it seems likely that they wouldn't openly engage the Federation in full scale war until/unless they were certain of overwhelming victory, they are sneaky like that.
The creep factor and suspense in Fusion needs to be more prevalent in the series in my humble opinion. It would be kinda like dead space but less on-the-nose.
I prefer Zero Mission to Super Metroid because of the story elements like the mural of the Chozo Guardian in a Varia Suit and the detail of kiddo Samus's crude drawing of herself with Old Bird and Grey Voice in one corner - the little touches that underscore that this was once her home. That direct connection to her history with the planet puts ZM over the top for me.

Metroid Fusion has always been my favorite. I always thought the platforming in Super Metroid was less precise along with a clunky HUD and a dash button. In Metroid Fusion, all you need to do is hold R for your weapons and you already run fast enough so I never feel that I am missing a dash button.
Fusion and Zero's mission Samus is way to slow, one of the only thing that I like better about Super's controls is the run button. Am2r solved this problem by making the morph ball faster and having a faster shinespark start and finish animation so that it's actually worth using it.
I just realize that Mando with baby Yoda is just Samus with baby Metroid. going around doing bounty hunting stuff together. I think it's a kid who gathers characters and plays with them in a room. The theory or story goes something like that... Got this from game theorist. Or I could be wrong and it might be real..
I imagine the 'Smash' games are a planet the characters all travel to to hone their skills, gladiator style, but no one can actually die on the planet or something...Idk. That's why I liked Brawl so much, it actually gave story to the game.
Hey really great video I absolutely love the metroid series and can't wait for Metroid Prime 4. However You missed some really important parts like when Samus infiltrated a space ship and saved an electric rat from being used as their generator. And how the electric rat helped defeat Ridley. Otherwise really good job!!!
Metroid Fusion was how I was introduced to the series, so I have soft spot for it. However, Metroid Zero Mission is absolutely fantastic. The movement and combat mechanics are crisp and it's jaw-dropping how many alternate routes and shortcuts were built into the map. LOADS of replayability. Ended up unlocking all 8 endings for it.
In the first age, in the first battle--when the shadows first lengthened, one stood. Burned by the embers of Norfair, her soul blistered by the fires of the Dragon, and tainted beyond ascension. She chose the path of perpetetual torment. In her ravenous hatred she found no peace, and with boiling blood she scoured astral plains--seeking vengeance against the Great Dragon who wronged her. She wore the crown of the Chozo. And those who tasted the bite of her blaster, named her, “Samus.”
I like the moment when The Federation recovered Ridley's corpse from The Bottleship and transported it to BSL, so they can clone him. Again. Great plan, right?
I started late on Metroid games. First I played, and a lot, Super Metroid for SNES. I got so into it, I went back to play the older games. And it was in Super Metroid where I found out Samus is a woman. Became a fan and I just had to get special edition of Metroid Dread.
Still waiting for Metroid 5... Since Samus has metroid dna in her body, the main antagonist could be the federation trying to capture her to produce more metroids for their evil schemes.
IIRC They pretty much made Fusion to be an ending to the series, so yeah. The ending of Fusion heavily implies that Samus isn't going to be a bounty hunter anymore.
@@Sluppie Storywise, I can see that. The Space Pirates are dead, the Metroids are dead, the X Parasites are dead. But since Samus essentially thwarted the Galactic Federation's plans, she'd be labeled a traitor and hunted down herself. So while she could still conceivably be a bounty hunter, she'd be no longer supported by the Federation. Though I'd really love to see a continuation of what happens after Fusion, and how Samus' story ultimately comes to an end.
What i want to know is if she ever truly gets cured from the metroid infusion. Great video. Grew up playing OG metroid and have enjoyed it since. Super metroid being my favorite

When in the timeline does she fight Mario, Peach, and all the other Nintendo characters?
I think it's a kid who gathers characters and plays with them in a room. The theory or story goes something like that... Got this from game theorist. Or I could be wrong and it might be real..
@@Benz7n yeah and the trophy characters too
I imagine the 'Smash' games are a planet the characters all travel to to hone their skills, gladiator style, but no one can actually die on the planet or something...Idk. That's why I liked Brawl so much, it actually gave story to the game.
@@rrrush Close: they're just various toy versions of the characters. And the kid has a name... Wanna take a guess?
@@kohlrak hmmm..honestly I would get this wrong, but the creator of the smash bros universe?
(Edit)
Idk the name 🥲

Literally just beat Metroid Fusion yesterday, loved it!
Just saw the new trailer and have never played one, time to learn the entire story
Lol, same tho
You should play Super Metroid. It’s an amazing game
I agree, I have only played the original three games but they are all very ggod
Play Zero Mission first if you want to get into Metroid. Phenomenal game.
Very fitting that Fusion is at the end of the timeline because Metroid Dread is now confirmed to take place right afterwards
Brawl reference?
X Samus is one of the fewer video game characters that scared the hell of me.
It’s confirmed that Dread will be a direct continuation of Fusion, so no wonky prequel-timeline shenanigans.
Love the video man, always up for more Metroid media woot!!
Come on people, Zero Mission is the best, at least when it comes to 2D Metroids!
13:54 i thought he was going to say ghost busters
I like the moment when The Federation recovered Ridley's corpse from The Bottleship and transported it to BSL, so they can clone him. Again. Great plan, right?
I started late on Metroid games. First I played, and a lot, Super Metroid for SNES. I got so into it, I went back to play the older games. And it was in Super Metroid where I found out Samus is a woman. Became a fan and I just had to get special edition of Metroid Dread.
I am quite sure they didn't think that a game made in 2002(Fusion) was gonna be the last in the chronological order.
Metroid Dread
I love super Metroid and Prime. I had a lot of fun playing both them
Fantastic timeline. And yes. Super Metroid is the best. Don't even gotta argue that one.
DAM!
you're so charismatic.
here's my like!
and my subscription!
Vinicius Machado hey thanks Vincius, you’re super rad
What i want to know is if she ever truly gets cured from the metroid infusion.
Great video. Grew up playing OG metroid and have enjoyed it since. Super metroid being my favorite
I hope Metroid prime 4 is as good
I love leaderboard timeline videos you guys are the best
Nicely done bro.. dropped my like for this awesome content
Love how you fit Pinball into the Metroid history mix, lol!!!
Need to review this to play Metroid Dread
OG Metroid on NES is my fave. First game I ever beat. I remember I used to play it super late and the music CREEPED me out! Ah, the late 80's... :)
The key to good Metroidvania design is to remember that Super Metroid exists, is perfect and you'll have to settle for making something else. :p
I prefer Fusion and Zero Mission. R1 as missile is so much better than Select. And yeah, Metroidvanias are awesome, my favorite games!
The key to good metroidvania design is to look at hollow knight
@@JoakimOtamaa Yeah that's more convenient but Super is still a better game overall
The key to good Metroidvania design is to remember Zelda II Adventure of Link was the huge inspiration to Iga, not Metroid.
But then the game that was made sotn is VERY similar to super Metroid.
Yesss exactly what I was looking for, very well done video. 👌👌
Metroid Prime 3 and Metroid Fusion on my favorites also I'm really hoping Metroid Prime 4 takes place after Metroid Fusion it only makes sense for too
Prime 4 will most likely take place before Metroid 2
Great video, my favorite Metroid games are Super Metroid & Metroid Other M

Me: HOLD UP
Saw the Metroid trailer , came here right away for some refreshments.
So your telling me that metroid fusión is the last game in the series story wise WHAAAATTT and here I was thinking it was like the front runner that lead to everything else.
I mean it's called metroid 4 in the intro screen
@@clickycal you're right what the heck. I do remember seeing it but never payed that much attention
Silly fool, Metroids are predators to x
My favourite game is metroid prime 2 I love the light-dark aspect of the game as well dark samus's first appearance being so memorable to me
Echoes is the Super of the Prime games.
*Change my mind.*
You good friend are a man/women of good taste
Hmmm pretty sure Metroid Prime was one of the Metroids the pirates had with them, which absorbed way too much phazon. Anyways, great video, it was pretty funny and a great summary. Good job!
Heh, came back after playing Metroid Dread. Makes sense now.
I thought we agreed Other M never happened.
Bret M. It’s still canon, whether you like it or not, so deal with it. You can dislike it all you want, but that doesn’t change facts.
it's sadly canon.
