An absolutely magical and perfect way to end off Super Smash Bros Ultimate😭🥲I literally went from screaming to crying so hard. The Kingdom Hearts franchise is so much deeper than a game. It really is so special and it’s something that can’t be explained, it has to be felt. Thank you Sakurai, thank you Nintendo, thank you Nomura.
Yeah, I guess I've been out of the loop since the way sora was introduced didn't bring much to me to feel, all I felt was a content sadness how the trailer signified the end of how no more characters are coming and how Sakurai is either retiring or just going to be on maintenance or something else
What better way to finish off the legacy of Smash Bros Ultimate- the biggest cross-over title ever to exist, than to introduce another (back in the day) beloved cross-over game? When Kingdom Hearts was still a brainchild idea, at the time, the inspiration originated from Mario. Some videos cover this better than I can explain it here, but that goes to show that it was fitting for Mario to be the one to open the way for Sora to enter the series. Two of gaming's biggest cross-overs ever to exist, hand in hand, in the single greatest celebration of gaming ever to exist. In all honestly though, if Kingdom Hearts was going to be added, I honestly thought that Sora was too much to ask for- an impossibility because not only does every studio of Square Enix has to agree (that was associated with the series), but all of Disney that was also associated with this has to be on board. I believed it couldn't be done, Disney being stingy as all hell when it comes to the gaming platform, and that someone like Lingering Will (Terra), Aqua, or even one of the big names for the Nort Court would have been far easier. Clearly Sakurai burnt out the last of his natural 20s to make this miracle happen. It would have been impossible otherwise. Sakurai is a legend, and something like Smash Bros Ultimate will more than likely never happen again. So many titles, game worlds, under one banner. Thank you Sakurai, and rest easy. You've done the impossible, now give yourself a break. XD
The truly amazing thing is this isn't completely apart of the KH celebration... the cloud versions of all KH remakes and 3 are coming to switch. I won't lie am more excited about that then Sora in smash. Though know I can fold fools in Monochrome Sora, and Wisdom form Sora (Best drive form and I don't even like Blue)

Seriously, the fact he's even in this AT ALL, in of it self, is nothing short but magical. The red tape and legal nightmare that this ONE character has behind him is pure insanity. And honestly something like this is probably never EVER going to happen again. This is literally a once-in-a-lifetime thing to happen.

@@hihowareya4004 well, Disney owns the rights to Sora so people figured that Disney would be stubborn about it because it’s Disney. Real story though is that Disney was fine with it, it was Nomura that kept him from being in it because he wanted a canon reason for Sora being in Smash

Because a lot of these people grew up with him, literally. And on top of that, his journey is quite sad and emotional, and the fact that he came into Smash without fighting anyone and with a beautiful OST, just makes the moment perfect. The handshake at the end was just the cherry on top.

Yeah, I'm glad it managed to work! Betcha Disney charged them $300,000 _just_ to let them keep the Mickey head shaped keychain on the Keyblade... the folks at Nintendo would have had to sell the company and their firstborn children to Disney in order to have so much as a glimpse of an actual Disney character in Sora's moves or the stage. :-P
It wasn’t just one mega powerful company they had to deal with to do this but two. All do respect is given here. I would not be surprised if this dlc doesn’t have a lot of assist trophies and the like. Sora was hard enough Donald, goofy and micky would be an even bigger nightmare (even thou we all know they would make great fighters on their own). So I’m expecting the originals and a majority of square enex cherictors, with a sprinkling of Disney.

We saw what we are getting, ZERO Disney characters at all and a few mentions of KH original characters. We get Sora, the stage, the music (no hikaru utada songs), the spirit board of the original KH characters (like Riku and Axel) trophies of Sora, and the three Mii costumes (not KH related). There are no Disney characters at all or other KH characters minus who appears as spirits and in the stain glass panels of the stage.
The ONE character I wanted in Smash for 13 YEARS is in! I'm so happy that Sora is in Smash, and I'm glad that tons of people feel the same way! This announcement was so hype!
My favourite thing about these compilation reactions is they always have one person who is just like “this sucks.” Sora is a character that crossover for a living. There was no better way to end the DLC character run.
Previous reveals were about coming to kick ass and beat the shit of the other characters, but Sora is just pure benignity, helpful, cheering, smiling good hearted dude. His reveal is so peaceful and warming, floating, peterpaning his way through the rest of the crew plus the music selection being instrumental is perfect for the closing occasion. The reveal, the moment, the animation, the music all combined is a perfect piece of art, reactions included. Simple and clean. Bravo Nintendo. Thank you Sakurai.
I couldn't exactly figure out why this reveal was so much more emotional, but you said it perfectly. Having him come into the scene without fighting anyone, along with beautiful music, just makes this surreal. Especially when he and Mario shake hands at the end. A once in a lifetime moment in gaming history.
The legal red tape that Nintendo must have gone through to get each and every DLC character into smash must have been a living hell, especially Sora. Gotta give credit where credit is due, bc something like that is nowhere near easy to pull off.

Think about it, Sora is from a game that is made as the union of Disney and Final Fantasy, and where his main objective is to reconnect different worlds. Now he is the last character from a game that is basically the place where videogame characters of many franchises are united, and Sora acts as a symbol of the union of Disney and Nintendo, two titans from different industries, this is just perfect and poetic (sorry for my english)

This is the one character I wasn't a fan of that I still cried my eyes out for because I KNEW so many people's dreams just came true. And just knowing that they get to experience that feeling makes me feel the same way. I'm so proud of this community (excluding that one bad batch *cough cough*) and the way we all came together to experience something truly magical. It truly was an event to look forward to each character reveal together and even if a lot of us were annoyed with some choices they made, it was that sense of community that made up for it. It was never about getting all the most popular characters, it was about building a family of icons we can cherish together. Seeing the final trailer, I know this time they 100% made the right choice. It would have felt so wrong being literally anyone else.

I think the reason why this was so darn emotional is because nearly every gamers' childhood was experiencing the magic of Kingdom of Hearts, and we finally get to see Sora among the other characters associated with our youth. We feel complete.
This, Kingdom Hearts is Tied to most gamers childhood including myself, the music is just so emotional and makes you feel like a 7yr old everytime you hear it, This why Kingdom hearts is so magical we grew up with sora and Disney(including movies and shows from the late 90's early 2000's) It reminds us of simpler and happier times when we were just kids having fun, Damn i Love Kingdom Hearts so fkn much!
The way I see it, compare it to Cloud and Sephiroth. People were hyped as hell, but no one really cried. They were childhood hero and villain. A dynamic duo. But Sora. Sora is like family. There's a big difference in watching your superhero succeed and watching your family member succeed.
They based him almost entirely off KH1, the most nostalgia charged of them all. And using the orchestral version of Simple & Clean? That shit pulls on the heartstrings something fierce.

I love the symbolism of the smash trailer. When you think about it that last ember is “the undying light” mentioned in the song. And Sora is the one that always talks about the “light that never goes out” and how it’s the connection to others that makes that light so powerful.

Nintendo (and basically every other gaming company) respects him to the max. A lot of big names were even asking as far back as Smash 4 to have their characters put into the game. I would say that Sakurai is probably the most respected game developer of all time.

I never wanted sora in smash but seeing almost everyone basically in tears of joy after the initial reveal I just can't be mad, how can you be mad at pure happiness? The unprecedented joy this brought to everyone made me excited for this character. I knew he was popular, but damn.... plus that trailer was just pure magic and you cannot tell me otherwise.
yes, same here. I never thought Sora would make it, due to how Square then Disney are. But it's great to see it come to the end. The trailer changed my perspective immediately. It was beautiful! My two choices I wanted to see was Master Chief or Waluigi be part of it. I would have been happy with Master Chief as a Mii Fighter along with Doom Guy. But can't always win. I was hoping Waluigi finally get out and to play as an character instead of an assist, so he will be a full assist forever. Please I'd love to see an Assist Fighter mode where I could at least play Waluigi.
It makes me so unbelievably happy seeing how excited people are for Sora. The fact tons of people burst into tears at the reveal makes it so heart-warming. Honestly, I couldn't of asked for a better character to be the final fighter!

I’m not into Smash, but that last splashscreen of Sora and Mario shaking hands brought a tear to my eye. That image has real meaning for me as a long time gamer. I don’t need to be into Smash to be able to appreciate this special moment. Kingdom Hearts is the embodiment of the experience of visiting other worlds and live adventures along fantastic characters from other beloved franchises. That’s why Sora fits here SO WELL thematically speaking. He is literally a traveler of worlds. And he has made me want to get Smash Brothers Ultimate, just for the sake of having that crazy roster. Thank you Square. Thank you Nintendo. Thank you Disney.
I personally wasn’t asking for Sora. Not that I don’t like him, I just have never played Kingdom Hearts before. However, I am very happy the final character is some one that made so many people this happy.
The emotion of so many people’s reactions to this video is beautiful. I love that this trailer makes Sora’s appearance a celebration. It starting with a reference to the first Smash Ultimate trailer but with everyone there and then the symbol dissipating with one flame falling on the ground. Then everyone is turned to statues when it goes dark but Mario is the only one reawakened by the fire. He slowly walks to it wondering what will happen then finally, after hesitating for a few seconds, thrusts his hand to it and launches it. Then when the spinning object is shown in slow motion you can see the end of it a little to make out what it is. The second after that it shows the Mickey keychain to remove any doubt who the final character is. It stays in midair shooting the keyhole beam releasing Sora into their world, awakening everyone else while the into music to the first Kingdom hearts game plays. It’s so poetic that the most requested character ever for Smash Bros. is the final reveal for this game. Having every other character there to witness him coming in and bringing them all back to life is so epic. Sora is not only another game representative, he’s a Disney representative. Nintendo and Disney have now collaborated to make this game the most ambitious crossover in fiction. This one character means so much to so many people and Mr. Sakurai is legendary for making this happen. He knew that Sora would be the best choice for the final character in order to finish this game with a blaze of glory.?And it is the most glorious blaze I’ve ever seen. Disney, Square, HAL, Nintendo and the visionaries responsible for Smash Bros and Kingdom Hearts, Sakurai and Tetsuya Nomura, have made gaming history.

I promised my kids 3 years ago that if Sora made it, he would be the very last DLC character as sort of a grand finale because it makes sense for the biggest character/crossover to be last. This is one of those videos that I can come back to any time and it'll put such a big grin on my face. Seeing how genuinely excited people were for his reveal, it's infectious. Seeing the happy tears, seeing the hype. It just warms my core. I never knew Sora would eventually end up in smash but Sakurai managed to get him in. My sisters and I grew up with Kingdom Hearts ever since the ps2 days so this puts a smile on our faces. It makes me want to revisit all the kingdom hearts games and wield the keyblade once again.
I feel that nostalgia, grew up with chain of memories and kh1. Watched my mom play it on the PS2 and used to cosplay as Sora as a little kid. That opening with Sora flying in really brought me back to Destiny Island and trying to get the star fruits off the side of the wall by jumping on the coconut trees and building that raft to leave the island.
I haven't played a single KH game and the reveal still had me in tears. Just something about it, either the knowledge of people's excitement, or just the Disney charm to it, or both. All I can say is that Sora's reveal is magical and it's just hits right in the Heart, this is coming from a bloke with little KH experience, just a little informed of the story by the web

They really sent the USB games off with a banger. If some people can't realize that then they don't know what nostalgia is. A lot of people were recently suggesting Darksouls and Waluigi, but if they were to do Dark Souls or Waluigi then it wouldn't have had the same effect of making people CRY because it's the LAST trailer and reveal we'll EVER get. Sending it off with something that a lot of people grew up with and ALREADY having Final Fantasy there with it is just.. full circle. Nothing is left out. It's something people have been begging for forever, literal YEARS over that other stuff and honestly it was a great way to make the majority of people feel happy that the series is ending on a high note.

I became a recent kingdom hearts fan 2 years ago and glad for that cause I had fallen in love with Sora and prayed that maybe the ballot from years ago might reflect here and it did. Never forget that Kingdom Hearts all started because a SquareEnix executive and a Disney executive stood in the same elevator together. So Sora and Mario holding hands is like those two executives shaking hands and making history.

So happy to see our boy finally in. The legal nightmare behind the scenes with Disney and Square was something Sakurai and team could have avoided the whole time, but they went the extra mile for all the fans. Thank you!
Yeah, I'm glad it managed to work! Betcha Disney charged them $300,000 _just_ to let them keep the Mickey head shaped keychain on the Keyblade... the folks at Nintendo would have had to sell the company and their firstborn children to Disney in order to have so much as a glimpse of an actual Disney character in Sora's moves or the stage. :-P

I would not be surprised if this dlc doesn’t have a lot of assist trophies and the like. Sora was hard enough Donald, goofy and micky would be an even bigger nightmare (even thou we all know they would make great fighters on their own). So I’m expecting the originals and a majority of square enex cherictors, with a sprinkling of Disney.

We saw what we are getting, ZERO Disney characters at all and a few mentions of KH original characters. We get Sora, the stage, the music (no hikaru utada songs), the spirit board of the original KH characters (like Riku and Axel) trophies of Sora, and the three Mii costumes (not KH related). There are no Disney characters at all or other KH characters minus who appears as spirits and in the stain glass panels of the stage.

My favourite thing about these compilation reactions is they always have one person who is just like “this sucks.” Sora is a character that crossover for a living. There was no better way to end the DLC character run.
Previous reveals were about coming to kick ass and beat the shit of the other characters, but Sora is just pure benignity, helpful, cheering, smiling good hearted dude. His reveal is so peaceful and warming, floating, peterpaning his way through the rest of the crew plus the music selection being instrumental is perfect for the closing occasion. The reveal, the moment, the animation, the music all combined is a perfect piece of art, reactions included. Simple and clean. Bravo Nintendo. Thank you Sakurai.
I couldn't exactly figure out why this reveal was so much more emotional, but you said it perfectly. Having him come into the scene without fighting anyone, along with beautiful music, just makes this surreal. Especially when he and Mario shake hands at the end. A once in a lifetime moment in gaming history.

Think about it, Sora is from a game that is made as the union of Disney and Final Fantasy, and where his main objective is to reconnect different worlds. Now he is the last character from a game that is basically the place where videogame characters of many franchises are united, and Sora acts as a symbol of the union of Disney and Nintendo, two titans from different industries, this is just perfect and poetic (sorry for my english)

This is the one character I wasn't a fan of that I still cried my eyes out for because I KNEW so many people's dreams just came true. And just knowing that they get to experience that feeling makes me feel the same way. I'm so proud of this community (excluding that one bad batch *cough cough*) and the way we all came together to experience something truly magical. It truly was an event to look forward to each character reveal together and even if a lot of us were annoyed with some choices they made, it was that sense of community that made up for it. It was never about getting all the most popular characters, it was about building a family of icons we can cherish together. Seeing the final trailer, I know this time they 100% made the right choice. It would have felt so wrong being literally anyone else.

I think the reason why this was so darn emotional is because nearly every gamers' childhood was experiencing the magic of Kingdom of Hearts, and we finally get to see Sora among the other characters associated with our youth. We feel complete.
This, Kingdom Hearts is Tied to most gamers childhood including myself, the music is just so emotional and makes you feel like a 7yr old everytime you hear it, This why Kingdom hearts is so magical we grew up with sora and Disney(including movies and shows from the late 90's early 2000's) It reminds us of simpler and happier times when we were just kids having fun, Damn i Love Kingdom Hearts so fkn much!
The way I see it, compare it to Cloud and Sephiroth. People were hyped as hell, but no one really cried. They were childhood hero and villain. A dynamic duo. But Sora. Sora is like family. There's a big difference in watching your superhero succeed and watching your family member succeed.
They based him almost entirely off KH1, the most nostalgia charged of them all. And using the orchestral version of Simple & Clean? That shit pulls on the heartstrings something fierce.

I love the symbolism of the smash trailer. When you think about it that last ember is “the undying light” mentioned in the song. And Sora is the one that always talks about the “light that never goes out” and how it’s the connection to others that makes that light so powerful.

Nintendo (and basically every other gaming company) respects him to the max. A lot of big names were even asking as far back as Smash 4 to have their characters put into the game. I would say that Sakurai is probably the most respected game developer of all time.

yes, same here. I never thought Sora would make it, due to how Square then Disney are. But it's great to see it come to the end. The trailer changed my perspective immediately. It was beautiful! My two choices I wanted to see was Master Chief or Waluigi be part of it. I would have been happy with Master Chief as a Mii Fighter along with Doom Guy. But can't always win. I was hoping Waluigi finally get out and to play as an character instead of an assist, so he will be a full assist forever. Please I'd love to see an Assist Fighter mode where I could at least play Waluigi.

I’m not into Smash, but that last splashscreen of Sora and Mario shaking hands brought a tear to my eye. That image has real meaning for me as a long time gamer. I don’t need to be into Smash to be able to appreciate this special moment.
Kingdom Hearts is the embodiment of the experience of visiting other worlds and live adventures along fantastic characters from other beloved franchises.
That’s why Sora fits here SO WELL thematically speaking.
He is literally a traveler of worlds.

The emotion of so many people’s reactions to this video is beautiful.
I love that this trailer makes Sora’s appearance a celebration.
It starting with a reference to the first Smash Ultimate trailer but with everyone there and then the symbol dissipating with one flame falling on the ground. Then everyone is turned to statues when it goes dark but Mario is the only one reawakened by the fire. He slowly walks to it wondering what will happen then finally, after hesitating for a few seconds, thrusts his hand to it and launches it. Then when the spinning object is shown in slow motion you can see the end of it a little to make out what it is. The second after that it shows the Mickey keychain to remove any doubt who the final character is. It stays in midair shooting the keyhole beam releasing Sora into their world, awakening everyone else while the into music to the first Kingdom hearts game plays.
It’s so poetic that the most requested character ever for Smash Bros. is the final reveal for this game. Having every other character there to witness him coming in and bringing them all back to life is so epic. Sora is not only another game representative, he’s a Disney representative. Nintendo and Disney have now collaborated to make this game the most ambitious crossover in fiction. This one character means so much to so many people and Mr. Sakurai is legendary for making this happen. He knew that Sora would be the best choice for the final character in order to finish this game with a blaze of glory.?And it is the most glorious blaze I’ve ever seen. Disney, Square, HAL, Nintendo and the visionaries responsible for Smash Bros and Kingdom Hearts, Sakurai and Tetsuya Nomura, have made gaming history.

It all ended in one hell of a bang! #ThankyouSakurai lots of ups, some downs, but all in all, a long, crazy, amazing ride that was a joy to witness from beginning to end!
I never knew Sora would eventually end up in smash but Sakurai managed to get him in. My sisters and I grew up with Kingdom Hearts ever since the ps2 days so this puts a smile on our faces. It makes me want to revisit all the kingdom hearts games and wield the keyblade once again.
I feel that nostalgia, grew up with chain of memories and kh1. Watched my mom play it on the PS2 and used to cosplay as Sora as a little kid. That opening with Sora flying in really brought me back to Destiny Island and trying to get the star fruits off the side of the wall by jumping on the coconut trees and building that raft to leave the island.
I haven't played a single KH game and the reveal still had me in tears. Just something about it, either the knowledge of people's excitement, or just the Disney charm to it, or both. All I can say is that Sora's reveal is magical and it's just hits right in the Heart, this is coming from a bloke with little KH experience, just a little informed of the story by the web

I was absolutely stunned. I can't help but smile when I saw it. I honestly thought it wasn't possible. Sora must've been legal hell to get thought but Sakurai somehow did it.

If some people can't realize that then they don't know what nostalgia is. A lot of people were recently suggesting Darksouls and Waluigi, but if they were to do Dark Souls or Waluigi then it wouldn't have had the same effect of making people CRY because it's the LAST trailer and reveal we'll EVER get. Sending it off with something that a lot of people grew up with and ALREADY having Final Fantasy there with it is just.. full circle. Nothing is left out. It's something people have been begging for forever, literal YEARS over that other stuff and honestly it was a great way to make the majority of people feel happy that the series is ending on a high note.
