I am so sick of all the lies being still told today or skewing the information to fit a personal agenda....many come to mind in the vegan world. Gosh just tell the frigg'n truth and let people decide for themselves what they want. Why do people have to twist the truth, you lose all merit when people find out and you lose them because of the lies. As well some people just can not do carbs, myself included. I get sever heart palpitations when I eat carbs. I thrive on LCHF. PERIOD!

Particularly interesting is his observation that a person with a well-regulated system will eat less when she is less active. Her weight stays constant with or without exercise.
I am in month 11 and lost 23 kg, triglycerides went from over 300 to 75!!!, hba1c from prediabetic 5.9 to perfectly healthy 4.9, gout gone, arthritis in hands in remission, waist -18 cm, much much much improved gut (from often leaky). I am not obese anymore. Still overweight, but not obese. The remaining 15 kg will go soon. Virtually no sugar. But I am still absolutely sugar addicted. Cannot leave it at 1 piece of sweet even now. On the plus side: 85% chocolate tastes really sweet now :-) I estimate that I eat less than 50 net carbs per day. Until 2 months ago I was very rigorous with intermittent fasting. Stopped that and have been stagnating with weight for a bit. Will restart soon. I used to do over 20 hours of exercise a week. And I gained weight like mad because my diet was just crap. Then I tried only whole grain foods and even vegetarianism for a while... That was when I gained the most weight. Nowadays I do virtually no exercise and due to illness I stopped both exercising and fasting completely 2 months ago. No weight gain happened during that time. Even though I am pretty much totally sedentary (will be changed soon). The only thing I did during the last 11 months with any regularity were pushups and pullups twice a week. I went from 0 pullups to 11 and from 20 pushups to 70. Yesterday I did pullups again, after not doing them for 2 months... and I am still at 11! Quite unbelievable, really.
It would be helpful if there was a 'Table of Contents'-- Title Cards paired with running time, such as "Have your views changed on the role of carbs in our diet?- 0:12" for example. Just sayin'. Anyway, regarding why people "fall off" low-carb diets, have you considered that the fact that we're surrounded by high-carb food advertisements, paired with the fact that our culture as a whole as absorbed the "fat is evil" mindset may contribute to this as much as carb addiction? When people are discharged from drug treatment programs, they're advised to dump their addict friends (which strikes me as hard advice to follow if the addicts *only* friends) on the grounds that they're likely to get sucked back into using if every one around them is using. The anti-fat dogma has been thoroughly absorbed into our culture, so much so that even people who live on junk food give lip service to the notion.
My biggest take-away from this is that exercise shouldn't be used as a means to weight loss. Although there are many good reasons why exercise is important to health, maintaining a healthy weight isn't one of them. _Eat_ yourself to your ideal weight, don't try to exercise yourself to it.

How do you screen for abnormal carbohydrate metabolism? I reckon monitoring blood glucose but what kind of test should one ask from their doctors. I'm assuming this is a screen meant for diabetics that many obese people should be undertaking.
Just stop eating the carbs . You dont need em. If your doctor is telling you to eat carbs they want you sick and fat. Or they themselves are carb addicted.

You need to eat a moderate amount of protein, a small amount of olive or coconut oil or sesame oil, a lot of vegetables (excluding potatoes and corn), stop drinking aspartame and sucralose and corn syrup, eat fruit very sparingly, get your potassium from avocado or nuts, not from bananas, and do a little strength training and walking if you arent already. You dont need flour. Glycemic index doesnt really help. You need to look at glycemic load. You dont need to be screened you need to get informed so that you can safely make that way of eating work for you. Dont grasp at straws about it -- an easy to understand guide is a book called Protein Power. Authors are Eades and Eades. Clinical information to show your doctor about how they reversed diabetes in many of their patients without medications and how to avoid the minor side effects of eating a non inflammatory diet. Dont try to make it "easier" by adding wads of starch and sugar and fructose. Dont try to make it "work better" by eating fat free instead of low fat. You wont crave carbs if you arent eating them as a staple. What questions do you have.?

Once you begin to experience the freedom from carb addiction, you will start to understand how you have been utterly controlled by your carb cravings, and little by little, you will move away from the need to eat carbs all the time. You'll be so surprised by your lack of hunger and cravings.

Carb Loaded they must be so miserable not eating carbs! I tried peanut butter on one of my audaxes (600km) and was sick of it after the first sandwich, had to move back to bread & medjool dates. Conclusion I'm getting, and what Tim states in the vid, is ... if you're not struggling with weight and are performing to a high level, high carb works. If you're unlucky or have damaged your metabolism through dieting, are struggling with your weight, try to become fat conditioned and it will help control your weight

They were tired but sharp and alert. Noakes has repeatedly made they point that elite level/Olympic level -->sprinters
All that saturated fat will clog them up! I'm pursuing a vegan carbohydrate restricted (not necessarily ketogenic) and calorie restricted (but not too restricted) lifestyle. Stay away from saturated fat. Fish is much better than meat and dairy, but I’m going to stick to veganism for as long as possible.

Something like coconut oil, grass fed meat is extremely healthy. Truly just google it I don’t think it would be that hard to find this info, the person below posted a good resource but there are lots dispelling the bad science from ancil Keyes (sp?) that indicates saturated fats with heart disease. What the new science has found is that saturated fats are extremely unhealthy when consumed with carbohydrates, processed ones being a specifically bad combination. Truly give it a try, it changed my life which admittedly makes me biased but I lost like 70 lbs all while maintaining most of my lean muscle mass on a diet extremely high in saturated fats and low in processed carbohydrates, which now believe is a much larger source of concern as it sounds like you aready know based on your original post stating that you are trying some form of a low carb plant based diet. And I’ve gotten some blood tests all indicating favorable outcomes with cholesterol, trygricylides (I know I’m terrible at spelling)

Unfortunately you've got the science wrong Adam. Dietary fat doesn't cause glycated LDL that accumulates as vascular plaque. What Noakes is saying is it is excessive and regular dietary carbohydrate that causes metabolic disease, fatty liver disease and insulin resistance, and it is these conditions that lead to vascular disease.

Averse? Never. But fat will keep you satiated and you will find with patience that carbs don't tempt you nearly as much as they used to.
