So, to give a little context, almost every level in this game has an air segment followed by a ground segment. The air segment as somebody mentioned is on rails. Progress is automated and the whole experience is curated. Like you fly around these various setpieces and fighting enemies, and the music of these segments takes advantage of that. Like you might get a sort of musical sting if suddenly a bunch of enemies appeared, and other stuff like that. The ground segments however, you have full control over the character and these segments have the more traditional video game song loops.
The main character of the game is an angel named Pit, and the first song plays in the chapter where you go after Dark Pit, a doppelganger that was created in the previous chapter that due to an accident in the creation process doesn't directly follow orders of the villain. Instead he sort of does his own thing and serves as a rival.
The second song plays in various miniboss encounters with Dark Pit, 2 of which are in the chapter "Dark Pit", but the last is a fair bit later in the game.
As for why flamenco/surf rock/spaghetti western... the level has a sunset so maybe it's to give off sort of old western shootout vibes? Dark Pit is also supposed to be sorta cool compared to Pit who is intentionally very dorky.

one small thing is, Dark pit isnt exactly from an accident during the creation process, but its because what he was created from, was to be the "Reverse" of Pit, and one characteristic of pit is how subservient he is, as in, he is loyal to the bone to Palutena and works as such as her closest aide and servant, so the "reverse" is a Pit who is freer and goes on his own tunes and is more rude and disrespectful towards gods

Pit is the name of the protagonist, the angel dude on the art. Dark Pit is his not quite evil doppleganger/rival. The first theme plays for the chapter centred around following and confronting him, whereas the second one is the theme that plays when you fight him (he's a reoccurring boss).

For future reference on all kid icarus uprising songs, each level is split into two sections. The first is a flying, on rails shooter within a set time. The music will change and shift to match the events happening on screen. That's why it might sound a bit random and hapahazard at points. The second section is like a 3rd person shooter where you're on the ground for as long as you need to be to take out the enemies. That's why these songs will be a consistent loop. The level styles vary every now and then but generally this is what you should expect.

    Two words.
    Motoi Sakuraba.
I’ve always loved this man’s work and this is genuinely a masterpiece of a song, in a masterpiece of a game.
Edit: Also, to give some added context, Kid Icarus Uprising is generally split into two sections. Air battles and land battles.
These sections differ heavily with air battles being rail shooters taking you along a fixed track, while land battles are free roaming action sections.
The reason I bring this up is cause it allows this game’s music to be much different, in that the events that happen in air battles are very much synced with the music. If you hear certain stops or tone changes, that’s usually to fit what’s happening in that section and allows for these parts to have longer and constantly changing sounds.
For example, Dark Pit is the air battle music while Dark Pit’s Theme is one mainly used for boss fights in land battles.

To explain the brilliance of this song and the character. If there’s anything this song can be described as, it’s Free. There is nothing really binding the song in any way, which represents Dark Pit. Pit trusts his life to Lady Palutena, but Dark Pit [who is an incomplete evil replica clone of Pit] does not bind him to Palutena’s will. Furthermore, while Pit requires Palutena’s power to fly, Dark Pit can fly on his own free will.
    To summarize:
The song is very free, not restricted in any way, which represents Dark Pit, who can fly and isn’t restricted to the will of the Goddess.

Dark Pit is the evil clone of the protagonist. He starts off making Pit (protagonist) question his loyalty to the goddess.
The first song that you listened to was the air section of the level. For this part you’re chasing dark pit but enemies keep separating you. The music is groovy because it’s a chaotic air chase.
Pit can only fly for 5 minutes so the second song is when he lands on the ground. And a different yet very similar theme plays. And Pit has to find Dark Pit, when he does this song plays. Sounds near identical to the other one but is more dramatic and adds drums.
I would recommend more songs from this game but it’s a short game filled with countless bangers so I would just end up listing the whole ost. Definitely should check out the ost.

Oooh, some KIU! _ahem_ allow me.
So as other people have said, the title refers to the evil doppelgänger of the protagonist: Dark Pit. Only after his creation, he immediately turns on the villain who created him, while also swearing to take Pit down as well. So while he’s not a good guy, he’s certainly not evil either.
I think the first song is a perfect way to musically explore this character. A flamenco guitar is not at all what you associate with an evil doppelgänger, so it gives the impression that maybe Dark Pit isn’t so bad. It then turning into _progressive_ flamenco is so out of nowhere, it sells him as a wild card. You don’t know what to expect with this guy.
As for the naming conventions: This particular chapter is named “Dark Pit.” Each level is split into two phases, one scripted on rail shooter and one open ended 3rd person shooter. The song for the first half, usually the flying segment, is named for the chapter. So the flying theme is called “Dark Pit” while the on ground battle theme is called “Dark Pit’s theme.”
This game has a spectacular soundtrack, and id recommend all of it!

  • @finalbio1406
    @finalbio1406 Год назад

Like a lot of people already commented, the first theme you listened to is the "Flight Theme" while the second theme is the "ground theme". Almost every chapter in Uprising is designed that you control Pit while he is flying to his current destination in an on-the-rails Shooter segment. Due to the things that happen in this segment, the music is kinda Diegetic, in that it gets sudden shifts in tempo/rhythm or instruments depending on what is happening (tbh I feel like it would work much more if you were able to see the flying segment during this, as visuals do add to the music in this case). Pit can however only fly for about 5 minutes, due to his crippled wings and him being granted the Power of Flight by his goddess, which would burn up his wings if he used it longer than 5 minutes at a time. So he generally has to land nearby and continue his way on foot, which leads into the Ground Segment, which turns the game into an explorative third person shooter. And that is where the regular second theme comes in.
Kid Icarus Uprising is such a fantastic game. The entire Soundtrack is pure bliss, the visuals are great considering it's on the 3DS, and the controls, while they take some getting used to, are snappy and responsive. Not to mention the Voice Acting and the Writing with all the Jokes, References and 4th Wall Breaks they have going on add to the charm of the game even more.

While I can't tell exactly for sure why they chose a theme like that, flamenco is actually huge in japan (it's the second country with the most flamenco schools after Spain) and it's not rare to hear it in japanese games and anime, often as battle themes for kind of cool and aloof characters, which does fit Dark Pit, so it may have to do with that.

So Uprising is the third game within the Kid Icarus series. Yes, you read that right, the third. The first game, Kid Icarus, was originally released for the NES and the second game, Of Myths and Monsters, would come five years later for the Game Boy. Yes it was then 20 years later that Nintendo then revisited the series and made a third game, Uprising. The series is based around Greek mythology. Without giving away too much, the focus is around Pit, acting on behalf of the Goddess Palutena, fights to defend the human realm from Medusa and her forces.
Glad you enjoyed because the joke is we won't be seeing another Kid Icarus until at least about 203X something. No really, the game jokes about the length of time between the second and third game and thus the length of time until the fourth game, if there ever is one.

Kid Icarus: Uprising is contender for best 3DS game for anyone that can handle the controls. It's unfortunately uncomfortable for some people to hold the system in the way this game requires for its default control scheme and it's straight up not made for lefties. There are alternative control schemes, but they are wildly suboptimal to the default. But if you can manage with default controls, it is truly a phenomenal game in every respect.
It looks great for a 3DS game, the music and sound design is on-point, the voice acting is incredibly charming, and the controls allow for incredibly snappy and accurate shooter controls that really are second only to mouse aim, which makes the game feel amazing to play. But again, that's IF you can handle it without getting hand-cramps...

"Gilva Sunner Archive" is, from what I'm understanding, just reuploading videos from the original channel "Gilva Sunner" which was copyright striked on many videos by Nintendo (you should be fine though, since you're not just uploading the raw audio).
But that means already-compressed audio gets reuploaded and recompressed by YT, explaining why it sounds a little crunchy at some parts. =)
Sadly Nintendo doesn't upload most of their incredible music themselves, not even to Spotify, which is a huge bummer.
_If_ they release a full soundtrack for a game at all, most of the time it's on Japan-only CDs that have to be imported. =/
Pokémon did until a few years ago, though.

Parts of this song remind me of Sakuraba's other works, I forgot how good this song is. Very catchy chords, that ending is pretty cool with the tubular bells. Yeah I like this.
This second gives me some wild west vibes over flamenco, the percussion hits at 6:22 are very fun. The playing sounds super precise and accurate, this gets a bit menacing later in the song. I like this one too.
