    du - has the character for mai (sell) embedded with another radical - why is that done that way? read and sell jave nothing to do with each other

      This is an impressive question!🥁🥁🥁 Literally they don't have strong connections. 卖 came from 賣 (traditional character) : 『貝』stands for "shell- ancient money." 賣 you export your stuff to let others to buy (买 or 買).

      【读 du2】or 讀(Traditional Character) was designed with "an image 言(yan2)=talk/read/say + a sound 賣(mai4)
