Thank you. To avoid puncturing the firewall and wiring, I bought a remote control from Amazon. Remote operation works very well. I want to try some nozzles that atomizer better. But since this video I have installed a triple core radiator and did a better job sealing the bumper to radiator area. Car stays nice and cool now.
i had this cooling system for a while, but now i replaced the small water pump with a slightly bigger one ! and i also replaced the normal nozzles with fog nozzles. now i have more cooling time with the same water tank
I put a portalable mister system on my RX8 I live in Phoenix and she runs hot in the summer. It keeps my car at spring time Temps. I use only distilled water don't want calcium build up.
I have a built CAT 3406E been having heating issues pulling up hills. My dad told me when he used to drive trucks down in Mexico they would use this system and it works. Was curious and found this video. I’ll be waiting for an update see if it works. Will be doing it to my semi truck.
I have a prelude with severe heat soak issues when prolonged driving, in 110-120 degree weather with ac on. Temps reaching 230 and climbing after a 30 min drive at which point I turn the heater on. How did this work? Do you think that size container would last me a full tank of gas? That way I can refill it with bottle of water when I get gas? Im thinking of aiming it at the ac condenser.
Definitely not. This is only good for a race car that runs a few mins at a time. I can empty that tank in 1 minute. And, it’s a temporary solution to a bigger problem. You must have something else going on. A stock prelude should not have cooling issues. I’m working on things to cure my cooling issues... but on a car that makes 300hp/litre it can be tough!
Honestly unless is a race car or something that is heavily modified there should be a reason for your car to overheat and need this, check your water pump, thermostat and radiator, there has to be something wrong with your car, If u on a budget, try removing your thermostat alltogether which could be a temporary solution in the summer by allowing way more waterflow, but is not a good idea in winter as your engine will never be at optimal operating temp
The problem is I live in one of the hottest places on earth. This is only a problem in prolonged driving with ac on max cool and max speed in 120 degree weather. If it’s only 105 no issues.
@@juanc5149I was thinking of doing a similar thing. I too live in the hottest place on earth. I wanted to make a water cooled condenser in order to let the a/c keep up in the summer. I’m curious, how did this work for you?
@@carlorocky It didn’t. I had blown head gasket at the time. It still runs warm in extreme weather with AC. I may of also had coolant crud build up as well. I replaced the head gasket and with multiple cycles of prestone coolant system cleaner, and replacing some lines I was able to get some of the crud off. now I run water wetter and water in summer months. And moved to a place where it only gets from 105 to 112 and that’s enough to reduce the heat soaking issues .
Any updates on the rad sprayer? I'm thinking about building one that sprays in front of the FMIC, radiator, and in the engine bay with a small fine mist on the engine block (not on turbo or ex mani). Curious if you have any data on optimum spray time, and how fast the water evaps and needing respray. I understand all those will vary on flow rate of sprayer, and how fast car is driving/amount of airflow into the bay, ect but curious of general starting range.
Evo 5 and up have intercooler spray. My evos sprayers appear to be gone im going to try re fit them. I think theres a measureable difference it would matter for particular purposes.
I never put any different ones in. Just the washer sprayers that I show in the video. I think the mister style that you can get for a patio would work better and use less water.
The water evaporates on the hot radiator. When water evaporates, it absorbs a lot of heat energy (the technical term is 'latent heat of vaporisation'). As the water absorbs the heat and evaporates, the temperature drops. The water vapor then moves away, carrying that heat energy with it. The same concept is used to cool houses in dry climates (look up 'evaporative cooler' or 'swamp cooler').
@@barrysmith7498 haha one year ago I didn’t know very much but I’ve learned a TON in the meanwhile. Funny thing was I was going to install a system like this but I’m gonna wait until I’m hitting the track on private days when they hot lap! Thank you !!

Ya. Some nozzles that atomize better would help a lot!
What nozzles did you use, post link

It works. But you are limited by water capacity. It is a bandaid in my opinion. But, for the short races I do it works for now.
Use distilled water to keep nozzles from plugging with minerals.
nice i will try that on a twin rad set up on a aussie 1948 holden speedway car.
I was wondering about those mister nozzles from garden irrigation systems.
i had a car with spray mist into the carburator........and run awesome
Water injection is common. But serves a different purpose.
Is there any way to harness the water that drips out of the evaporator core?
Great video, Helped me a lot.
Thanks
Cheers.
Sick ass test bro thanks for posting this 👍

How does it work? Does it allow the heat to transferred into the water therefore kind of pulling out heat ?

It’s kind of like when you put a hot pan under running water, water immediately boils and pan cools super fast right?
Ya. Pretty much.
Good luck @ Area 27 today

If you don't use your window washer you can use that instead of buying that BS adding more weight n wires to your car
My car hasn’t had the window washer in it for years. Lol. And this one weighs substantially less than the stock one did
it's just 3-4 pounds max...ain't make any difference unless u use like 2-3gal water box
