I think the most toxic trait is perfume snobbery. There are so many gorgeous cheapies and if someone can't manage to show any love to inexpensive fragrances that's a red flag to me.
Yes, I agree. There's nothing wrong with a great cheapie! One of my favorite perfumes is Gold Couture and you can get a bottle for like $30 - it never gets old!! And some of my most worn perfumes are bodysprays from Bath and Body Works. These deserve recognition as well. 💕

Feeling superior to other people because I own niche perfumes, whereas the common people buy designer ones
I absolutely love travel sizes, decants or small bottles like 15 ml. I love exploring new scents, but I do get bored with a fragrance quickly. Big bottles are never going to be finished in my house!
My toxic trait is avoiding wearing a perfume I love because it had gotten bad reviews or because it is really popular and feel I should be wearing something not unique. I feel this way about Back Opium as many reviewers say it’s “basic” and too many people are wearing it. BUT I am wearing it today because I love it ❤
that's another great one!! I'm guilty of that sometimes as well. Like I'll look at a bodyspray I have that cost $5 and think.. hmm this isn't really that sophisticated lol

My toxic trait is praying my order comes before my hubby gets home 😅 every time I buy a new perfume he says don’t you have enough??🤣 he’s so funny 😂😂

Totally relate to the dopamin rush when I order the perfume! Sometimes I forget I expect it! It’s so bad - I started getting decants for now and realise I don’t need to have 100 mls bottles I can’t ever go through
I love hearing about the same perfumes over and over. Maybe it’s just me. But I’ve been trying not to buy much so I get travel sizes or testers when I can. I’m also just trying to watch videos that are about ones I currently have to re excited myself about the ones I already have.

My toxic trait was buying cheap perfumes to increase my collection when I can smell the cheapness. I can’t afford niche but around the $140 mark i find them to be much more satisfying to my senses. So my new rule is no more new perfumes. I’m sticking to my two faves and saving the money for the one I “can’t afford”. Also no more makeup purchases for me so I can save for the 2 expensive perfumes I love.
My most expensive perfume I’ve ever purchased was Safand perfume De Marly. This I did last weekend. I immediately had buyers remorse. I did not open until I actually used the sample a bit longer. I am in love with this beautiful scent now❤️ thankfully!!

Getting excited to quickly is the reason why I don’t prefer unboxing/first impressions. I see how they are fun. But if I was really serious about a perfume (especially) if it was expensive, I’d want my favorite RUclipsr to really know the perfume they are reviewing before they share it
totally agree. If I'm looking for a serious and comprehensive review, I also prefer a thorough review. But I have to admit I love a good first impressions or smelling for the first time too. It's kind of fun.

My toxic trait is not wearing an expensive or discontinued fragrance because I don't want to use it up. But one good thing is that I would never buy a pricey fragrance blindly. I would have try it at least twice if spending $100's. I am glad you are able to sell your decluttered fragrances
Buying travel sizes is such a great idea. I have over 50 perfumes, so I've been trying to buy the travels so I can wear it and really take my time to decide if I want/need to invest in the perfume.

Another one is buying the edp version or (intense, elixir, absolu,night,noir, extreme) when the edt or (legere, blanche, l'eau) is actually the scent that I like.
Justification = longevity.

I also agree about samples. There are some toxic channels that say that if the reviewer only has a sample or travel size that their review isn't valid unless they have a full bottle. I find that silly. Yes perfumes macerate over time but you can still get a good idea if you would like it or not
#8 is so me, not that t don’t wear my perfumes. But the shipping email, the out for delivery, and the excitement to open the box and fresh new cellophane gets me every time 😂😂. I’ve bought over 8 already and it’s only January, I need to pump the breaks. Hopefully I won’t make another purchase until June.
I also need to pump the breaks a bit with the purchases so far this year. I can totally relate.
@@thesimplechiclife those were fragrances from my 2021-2022 wish list, although I deviated and bought some that weren’t on the list. These recent buys were at a discounted price, I said why not. But the rest are full price, I have to budget for them and might one or two releases. The first new release is the new valentino perfume, nothing else sparks my interest. I feel like brands are repackaging the that are hyped up on youtube,or best sellers from other companies ( both designers and niches). The uniqueness is no longer, since they’re copying each other and have the audacity to raise their prices.
I will say, blinding buying for me has been 95% successful and i love it. This video was an awesome idea ❤
Even though I don't collect perfumes to that level, I do love having special perfumes that I love wearing, I only have 6 full sized bottles and I'm kinda iffy about one lol. I do have many tiny travel sized ones that I do experiment with. This was fun to listen to while while getting my laundry ready 😅💖

Omg yes! Some things I’ve found that help with #4 is only decluttering spring/summer fragrances in the spring/summer, same for fall/winter. I also try to follow this seasonal model when purchasing which has made my purchases more likely to stick (only buying lighter fragrances in the spring/summer, etc). My nose is so different depending on the weather & I make much better decisions this way. Being a collector & aspiring minimalist is hard! 😅

Agree with all points! I have no qualms with buying decants/travel sized sprays just to test or enjoy a fragrance because it’s going to take someone forever to blow through a hundred full sized bottles, let alone 10 lol. It’s definitely saved me from purchasing fragrances that I don’t absolutely love.
I absolutely hate crystal noir when I first smelled it!! Then I decided to buy it and it is my absolute favorite perfume!
When I buy I keep...if I'm not feeling a scent ill mix it.
Hi, I was trying with samples, but lately even samples are so expensive so sometimes I just give up. I don't have to have everything and try everything. I wish I live close to perfume stores, but I don't.
it's true, even samples can be so pricy and often you're looking at shipping fees and duties -- and majority of the time you don't find one you love from the batch anyhow:/

So beautifully said- thank you and yes I could relate to several. I live in a rural area so I also rarely get to a perfume counter. I blind buy based on notes and reviews- sometimes failing and sometimes with great results. I just received the new Black Opium perfume yesterday from a blind buy and it’s amazing. I’m going to try and just buy samples or travel size until I know that I want a large bottle.

Yes to travel sizes!! I’ve been trying to tell myself to buy more travel sizes over full sizes, especially since I can run through a sample, love it, buy the full bottle, then realize I can never find the occasion to wear it. If I run through a travel size, then I have a reason to buy the full bottle

How long can we store a perfume is also a big confusion.. I keep buying n then wonder how fast can I use it. How long do u think we can store a perfume without it expiring?
My toxic perfume trait is becoming obsessed with whatever perfume is currently being raved about ATM and feeling like I need to jump on new releases as soon as they come out.

Maybe I am weird. I like the pretty bottles too but they are not very important for me. I decant all my perfumes and put all the full bottles inside the closet. And if I can buy the refill, better for me coz it is much cheaper

Wow, I just seen this topic on another perfumers channel the other day. I guess y'all get influence from one another.
I've only seen it on Carmen's channel recently, but I'm sure lots of people have talked about this topic. I suppose it's like doing "instagram decides best perfumes" or "I have X number of perfumes, these are the ones I actually wear" - I've noticed a trend with that topic as well 😊
