Just found your channel. I am nearly 60 years on this earth, also starting fiber crafts in childhood. I urge anyone doing fiber crafting... learn the side bits of wood working... to make the wood tools needed. It is reasonably easy to manage.
It really is going to allow me to enjoy my stitching more so I had to share that information with others. I know I’m not the only Goldilocks looking for a stand that is just right.
This stand looks fabulous. I’ve never seen anything like it and I’m sure it would make stitching much more enjoyable for me. Like Christine, I also have rheumatoid arthritis and this would be a game changer. Do you ship to the UK? 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
To help your lowery not tip, you can turn the base towards you. The arm of the lowery and the base should face the same direction. (It just might let you like it a little more 💜). I’m kind of a stand troubleshooter! Love seeing the potoky - that’s what my daughter is hoping to get soon! I’m glad you like your new Mark 2 💕
oK - if Caroline and John were looking for a Rep - you should be a top pick. What a great review and endorsement. I've been looking at this frame since Evertote brought it out and this is the best outside endorsement I've seen. Thank you.
I’ve had to build a relationship with my Lowry stand. Now we work together very well no matter if I use a hoop or a scroll frame. Love your reviews!!!!
I have had the Hearthside Mark 2 floor stand for over 20 years (from the original owner) and it is the best stand I have ever used. When Evertote started manufacturing this product I purchased the lap stand which has the same turning mechanism for easy access to the back of your work. Love them both and use the floor stand every day and the lap stand goes with me on retreats/stitch days or for smaller projects.
Christine, this was by far the best review of the stands you have. I really love the last stand that you reviewed. I have several and none of them are satisfactory for my body type and frames that I have. So I’ve quit using them. Which is a shame as they’re quite expensive. Thank you so much for this great review of the Hearthside stand. ❤
Fantastic review video. I have been a stitcher for years, when I had the money to invest in a floor stand, I did buy the Hearthside “Mark 2” floor stand. SO glad it was my first choice when buying. It is everything you have shown it to be. Craftsmanship is first class. I bought mine from the original designer/owners and it was one of the last stands they sold when they retired and sold the business to ever tote. Thank you for such an informative video demonstrating the pros and cons of all the different needlework systems.
Thank you thank you thank you for this great review of your stand! I’ve been searching for a “forever stand” for large projects for some time & your review has been THE most helpful review I’ve seen!
I started this video because I am looking for a larger embroidery stand. When you started, I thought "Wow! She looks a lot like Christine" then you said "I'm Christine." I had no idea you had a RUclips channel. This video was truly informative, and you answered so many questions! Thank you! And I hope to see you some time. :)
Thank you for this review. I have had this stand in my cart for a few months, but your review made me push the Purchase button. One of the real selling points is that my scroll bars from other manufacturers will still work. Thanks again!
Hope you enjoy it! I don’t think you will regret it. You’ll want to adjust the height up and down until you find what is comfortable for you. But when you get to that sweet spot you will never look back.
What a wonderful presentation! I stitch in hand, so I don’t have deal with scroll rods - but the system looks so efficient - how wonderful to have everything at hand!
All I can say is wow!!! I like how it helps you to be able to sit up straight no a natural bending, thank you for finding this and I will be ordering my own!
You know that this is one of my favorite topics!!! Excellent video- absolutely wonderful I am definitely mentioning this video when I record tomorrow Thanks friend❤
I have just watched your video and wanted to share that I have this Mark 2 stand and have used it for over 15 years. It is the perfect stand in my opinion. So versatile and does work for any size project I am working on. Glad to see your review of this stand
You are so welcome! Did you notice her moving things around as I was talking. I didn’t realize she was doing that on the ground until I watched it while editing. 😂
Christine, Thank you so much for sharing your experience with various stitching stands. The stand from Evertote looks fantastic. This is a valuable resource for stitchers who are looking for a stand. Happy stitching. Best, K
This was a very interesting video for me. First, I recognize the metal hoop you showed; I have a few and still use them because I find the modern spring hoops can be difficult to use on some days (rainy days). I have a couple of the wooden screw type but my feline assistant can sometimes get too involved and thwart that process whereas with the old metal spring hoop, it's quicker than she is. I loved the demo of the Hearthside floor stand. It may be exactly what I need. I am all too familiar with having to put everything aside to take care of an immediate need whether it's a feline demand or the ringing bell of something done in the oven. I especially like that tray to hold scissors, threads, and assorted other items so they are handy and out of feline reach (she is always far too interested in those wiggling threads). I, too, have a small house and small living room so I'll have to measure to be sure the floor stand would fit; I'm hoping.
I feel your pain about the feline assistant, I have four! They do have a lap stand that takes up less room, but it doesn’t have the handy tray. I’ve gotten so spoiled with it I really miss it when I don’t have it.
Hi, Christine I have had my Mark 2 Floor Stand for about 5 years and I love everything about this frame. I have had no issues with any parts and highly recommend Hearthside Craftworks.
This RUclips popped up in my feed today. Thank you, it was fantastic. I have been considering a larger cross stitch project, and believe a scroll frame would be the best answer. The stand seems to be perfect for enabling using the scroll frame. Your explanation, and run through of all the choices you have tried was very well done. I’m returning to cross stitch after 40+ years, and have tried stitching in hand, which I found very frustrating. So then I went to a very simple hoop and it seemed better but not the best. I have tried different hoops, and am liking the nurge hoops; but now I want to do a larger project and have been looking at scroll frames. I will go back to see if you said exactly what type it was, but the floor stand was a beautiful revelation! So I will do more looking, and thinking. I’d be interested in any more comments you might have about the frames, stand, and attachments. Thanks so much for sharing. I’m going to go back and look at some of your other videos. Peg 💛. From SD.
Hi Peg. I had looked at other wood frames, but none of them were as well made as this one. You can find out more at www.evertote.ca, or searching for Hearthside Craftworks Mark 2.
I wish I could have afforded it when it first came out. I was actually on the wait list and had to bump off at the last minute. I knew it was a good stand and seeing it in action Christine just proves why it’s still at the top of my list. when I convince hubby after all the frustrations the last 3 years of stitching on the sofa this might need to be back in my purchase list. Thx for reviewing its features
I’ll have to check out this stand, thank you. I’ve been through all kinds of stands from Edmund’s(my late husband tried to modify this one), Lowry, Baby Z, American Dream. My biggest issue has been my sitting position. The stands were all too short and I would end up hunched over on the edge of a chair. I would also spend most of the time constantly tightening the knobs which drove me crazy. So they’re all in a storage tote.
I really enjoyed your demo on the Mark 2 floor stand. 👏🏻. I wish I was a two handed stitcher! 😔 This set up would be perfect for me if I was…. Cheers 🇨🇦🧑🏻🦰
Just found your channel! Thank you for the very informative video on the different frames for stitching. You also showed your iPad on which you have your pattern. What app do you use for your patterns on the iPad?
Actually I don’t use a cross stitch app for tracking. I just have my pdf patterns on my Google drive. I can just open the pattern and zoom in to the part I am working on. I admit it has spoiled me. I find myself wanting to zoom my paper patterns now. 😆
Great video! My Potoky arrives tomorrow (thanks to Shellie’s Flosstube!) for my hoop stitching and the Hearthside shipped today. I needed something to hold the weight of a Millenium frame since there are three big samplers lined up to do. Good tools are worth their weight in gold!
Thank you for such a thorough review! I really need a good stand but have to be careful, as postage to Australia usually more than doubles the cost of an item, by the time it is shipped.
Thank you for this review! Very informative. Wow, I had no idea you had rheumatoid. I have it too. I rarely leave the house. You’re lucky you can go to retreats. I enjoy your videos and love when I get a peek of the cat ! 🐈⬛
Glad it was helpful! I never left the house for three years during the pandemic. I never go anywhere now other than retreats. They wipe me out but they are worth it. I am on a biologic that pretty much has things under control so I try to go when I am able. Chair yoga has helped a lot.
I haven’t had a haircut since the pandemic, it’s down to my waist 🤣! I just get tired of docs and getting poked and stabbed, so I haven’t gone. I am sorry you have this. Hopefully someday there will be a cure. Keep up the nice work! It’s all beautiful.
Excellent presentation, thank you! I have a question about the metal stand: isn't its metal base supposed to fit under one of the armchair legs in order to be stable for larger frames? I'm thinking of purchasing one just for a larger frame, and I'm curious if it would have the same issues should it be pressed under the armchair's weight. Thank you again!
Hi. Yes, it is designed to go under the leg. My issue is that the rod comes loose from the base. So the base stays under the chair but everything else is moving around.
Wonderful review Christine thank you so much. I love mine so much is definitely a game changer, but I haven’t been able to find my sweet spot when it come to been able to sit back and relax I find myself leaning forward and my back and neck hurts maybe is my chair or maybe I don’t have it high enough can you please share with me, in what setting you have your legs do you have it on the first hole? Thank you very much.
I have mine set at the 7th hole. It took awhile of adjusting up and down to figure out what height I needed. Then when I switched from the sofa to my chair I had to adjust again.
Hey Chris, thanks for the review. This sounds like what I need. I too have a stitching buddy or two. Do you think there is enough clearance for a small dog to lay on my lap while I stitch?
Im not sure, that would depend on how close you like your stitching to your face. I wouldn’t be able to have the cats ON my lap, but they are okay sitting next to me with just their head in my lap.
I have a lot of overhead lights in my studio so I don’t need additional light during the day, but I do have an Ott Light floor lamp if I’m stitching in the evening.
The Mark 2 floor stand can be purchased from Hearthside Craftworks at www.evertote.ca. The Potoky stand can be purchased through Hobby House Needlworks. I’ve had the others so long I can’t really recall where I purchased them.
I just got rid of my Lowery stand for several reasons. But one you did not mention that was for me the biggest problem was that it was a bit of a hazard if one has energetic and young children and grandchildren. Hoping to get the Hearthside Mark 2 soon. Well, as soon as possible! Love the fact that you can put your feet up! Thanks for this excellent review.
I wish this could be used with a chaise lounge that is attached to a couch. I would have to slide it in from the side. It doesn't look like you can do that. Nice frame though. Great review!
Thanks for the review, Christine! I thought I was the only one with hoops, laps stands, scroll rods, a Lowery, etc😅. I finally purchased a Millennium frame and stand from the UK. While it fits my needs perfectly, I wish it had wheels and the ability to simply rotate the frame to get to the back rather than pick up and flip the frame as I must do with mine. Could there be another stand in my future? You may have just enabled me😂 Hugs, Candace
I have shag carpet in the living room and it rolls just fine. I’m not sure about rolaframes, but I’m sure they could tell you if you send them a message through their website, www.evertote.ca
Do you find that the middle of your bars tend to sink in when trying to get them drum tight? I bought two lowery stands to hold my scroll frame on each end. I'm working on some big projects that use the 100cm (a little less than 40 inches) rods from Omanik that are going to take a decade to finish. I tried a spacer bar for it, but the rod it came with is being stripped by the nut when i tighten it. I did not appreciate metal shaving on my canvas or thread, but i haven't found a work around to get the middle as drum tight as the sides, and i worry a little about the bars bending inward if not forced straight.
I’ve not had that problem. But I also don’t necessarily try to get mine drum tight. I have seen some projects that were distorted by the stitcher over tightening and have never forgotten it, so I probably tend to keep mine too loose.
This video came up in my feed again. Must be trying to tell me something. 😂 Some more questions. Would it fit under a recliner? Does it fold for storage or do you have to take it apart to store? And I’m sorry about your rheumatoid arthritis. My neighbor has it and it has interrupted her life so very much.
@@normamaddux8109 I’m sure you could get the optional clamps to use that system, although you should verify that with Hearrthside Craftworks before ordering.

I do turn it towards me, but it comes loose all the time and the only way to tighten it is to turn the whole thing over and go at it from the bottom.
That stinks. Sounds like you need a new screw. But I’m glad you found a new stand that you love!

I wish this could be used with a chaise lounge that is attached to a couch. I would have to slide it in from the side. It doesn't look like you can do that. Nice frame though. Great review!
Could it not just go over the chaise part? You might want to look at their website. I think I could make it work.
@@mountaincraftsstudio maybe. There is not much room on the side near the wall.
Great information and content! One question, I need a magnification light while I stitch, so is there a mount or something like that for this frame?
I believe so. There are several accessories available that I didn’t purchase.
How do u craft in the evening or on a rainy day when u need to have a light on your work? ty
I have lots of lights in the ceiling so I usually don’t need one, but I do have a standing Ott lamp if I need it.
Love the stand
Loved the informative video
Thanks for watching!
It’s hard to find one that is just right! I think this is the one though. I sure don’t regret it.
Seems my finger hit the "buy" button for the lap frame! It's all your fault, Christine😉
You’ll love it! I’m seriously considering one for the cabin. 😂
Wow now that’s a frame. You should be a spokesperson for them.
I really love this frame, it is a game changer!
I have two questions , do you know how easily it moves in carpet floors? And do you know how it works with rolaframes?
I have shag carpet in the living room and it rolls just fine. I’m not sure about rolaframes, but I’m sure they could tell you if you send them a message through their website, www.evertote.ca
@@mountaincraftsstudio thanks
I get it. Now I want one.
Yeah. Been there. 😆
I had a metal hoop like that years ago.
I’m sure it was my mom’s, or grandma’s.
thank you
You're welcome
Have to agree this the best stand bar none.
For sure.
You have a magic moving frame on the video. Do you have a child moving it?
😆 I was wondering when someone would mention that. It was the cat playing at my feet.
Thx for this. I’ve been looking. But does it take Qsnaps?
Yes it does. There is a clamp option that you can purchase to hold the Q-snaps.
Well I just found them on Caroline’s website. It won’t fit under a motion recliner. So this is out for me. But a fantastic review. Thx.
@@janniestanleyAre you sure? There is an extra long bar you can custom order to make it wider.
Can you use this stand with a recliner
Yes.
@@mountaincraftsstudio Can you use a roloframe with this stand
@@normamaddux8109 I’m sure you could get the optional clamps to use that system, although you should verify that with Hearrthside Craftworks before ordering.
