I’ve been a therapist for 25 years. Appreciate all the excellent videos jam packed with information and the professional manner in which you present them.
Been an RT for about 3 years, I really appreciate your videos I’m just trying to be the best I can be that naturally everything becomes a routine I sometimes forget these simple information since school.
Already graduated last year, but I still come back to your vids to keep up on my skills and I like that can feel your passion for the field. I still have your note you sent with the Tshirt "Go Be Great" tac'ed to my wall ✅
I just graduate in December 2nd. And I’m studying for my boards I will take the TMC next week December 14, I would like to go over the airway resistance and lung compliance if possible. Thanks
Done with test (yesterday) Finals next week (exempt) graduate in 2 weeks!!! We are taught to hyperoxygenation and hyperventilate. VC-go up 100 on VT. PC-go up 2-4 on pressure to add about 100 to the VT. MAKE SURE you put the settings back as ordered!!!! Your channel is my go to for all things respiratory since 2019 and plan to continue to support it after licensure!
We completed our final final exam on April 26, 2021! I have officially completed the Respiratory Therapy program. This channel has helped me so much!!! Oakland Community College in Southfield, Michigan.
@@floordoor123 Good luck! I know everyone is saying we're gonna do fine but that doesn't ease my nerves or my doubts AT ALL! Know you're not alone.... I'll keep you in my "all knowing RT wisdom" prayers! Hugs, Becca (from RTalk #3)
Fantastic. Why does Lindsey Jones have us use a different formula (ett size ÷ by 2 then x by 3 to get suction catheter, which arrives at a different size) and different suction pressures, i.e.., adult- 100 to -120, child -80 to -100, neo -60 to -80? What should we use for the NBRC? Thank you
You'll have to ask LJ why they haven't updated to the knew recommendations. The info shared in this video is from the Airway Management chapter (36) in Egans. I would rely on the latter.
@@RespiratoryCoach thank you coach! The suctioning catheter is not supposed to be any more than 1/2 of the inner diameter of the et tube, correct? But, if this is true, then using the (ett x 2 take next lower even number) formula will give us a suction catheter greater than 1/2 the inner diameter of the et tube. Right? Or did they change the rule on no more than half of inner diameter?
@@darcy9961 Interesting enough what you are stating is true. I referenced another source to see what they recommend and they state the same as Egans, yet both also say no more than half the diameter of the ett. Conflicting stories. I don't know what to tell you, D'Arcy.
@@RespiratoryCoach thanks coach. Yeah, because 1 fr is equal to 0.33 mm. So if they want us to use a 14 fr with an 8mm ett, that would be close to 58% of the inner diameter...
@@RespiratoryCoach thanks so much. I took my CSE earlier in the month. I think those type of questions tripped me up. I feel like we kinda just glossed over them in school. I’m not sure if they ask more about it now because of covid19. Thanks for all your videos. Love the RTalks series.
hey, I'm an ICU nurse. Could you send me a reference (like a journal/textbook) for the location of the black piece? I think some of our practice is wrong and worth education. Thank you!
That all depends on the positioning of your ETT in relationship to the carina. The cm markings on the catheter will only tell you where the tip of the catheter is in relationship to the tip of the ett.
@@ابراهيمالحبيب-س5و Got it. First, that's too close. 3-6 is recommended by Egans. But if your ett is 2 cm above your carina, then you'll hit the carina when markings on your suction catheter are 2cm greater than the marking on your ett. In other words, when the 22 on the catheter aligns with the 22 on the ett, you're at the tip of the ett, so advancing another 2 cm would align the 24 marking on the catheter with the 22 on the ett, and you'll be at the carina.
Thanks for using the black board, it makes visual viewing more comfortable.

What about the depth? Is there’s any specific number that tells me if I’m close or reach the carina?
