Born and raised in Montgomery, I've spent countless midnights there(though not at the cemetery!). Many of my family are buried a few feet away. I always stop at Hank's grave and pay.my respects. What a tragedy that he died so young, since in his short life he blessed us with so many iconic songs. One can only wonder how many more treasures he would have left us had he lived a long life. RIP, Hank. God bless you, and thank you for.making my life-and millions of others around the world - richer for the beautiful music you created. And thank you, Alan Jackson for this beautiful, poignant video tribute.
Many people make fun of country music. Well, Alan Jackson's Midnight In Montgomery is an example of pure artistry that single handedly refutes this kind of snobbery. The cohesive instrumentals and the stark black and white video images create a haunting atmosphere. The marriage of this scene with Mr. Jackson's lyrical voice combines to pay homage to a truly American music genre, an era in our history, and to the man himself, Hank Sr. This video evokes in me a depth of emotion that I treasure and I feel really sorry for anyone who would fail to appreciate this kind of beauty.

I was 6 years old when this song came out, and even after 29 years of listening to this song I still get the chills when I listen to it. Written by one of the best songwriters of my time, about one of the best songwriters of all-time... It pays tribute to the father of country music in a way that no one had before... Or since. It baffles me how this song never reached #1. The lyrics, the performance, and that haunting d-minor key all come together to give the real country music fan a taste of how a country ballad is supposed to be. I highly doubt we'll ever get another country song that embodies the genre in this pure a form. Certainly not from the likes of the faux country artists that are so prevalent these days. It makes me a little sad... And pretty damn mad too. Thanks, Alan... For writing a timeless classic about another timeless classic.

I first heard this song on the radio two nights ago as my dim headlights picked out the curves of Thorpe Road after getting back from a trip out of town. As I filled my lungs with that late August Montana air, lost in thought and haunted by a face, that steel guitar riff sliced through my heart so deep I thought it might burst. It was then I knew I was home. Midnight in Montana, and I'm always singing here.
@alanjackson. Hi Alan I hope you will reply to this this song Midnight in Montgomery is my favorite song and video of yours along with Don't Rock the Jukebox.....I love Hank Williams, Sr.... he was one of the first country singers I heard when I was 11 and 12......like I said in my comment several years ago on here I'd like to go to Montgomery and see Hank's grave such a tragedy he died at only 29 years od
Country singers these days have no idea what music's about. They have no soul and no clue. Real country music is dead. Think God some people who love this music is still alive.
There are a few Stapleton is a bad motherfucker with soul like crazy Cody jinks is another one other than Stapleton nothing on the radio is worth a fuck anymore but there's still some real country in the underground scene
Hank's death @ 29 years old is still the greatest loss to country music of all time. This song lives on just as Hanks lives today in my heart and soul.
Yes, Alan we're still here and you will always be one of The Greats and you will always be someone who keeps us on the straight and narrow roads of Country Music~!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Love the music. Amazing words and nobody could sing it like Alan Jackson. Incredible all the way around.
Yeah no one can so beautiful voice 🥰 and Shay 😊 I pray to God to give you a lot of beautiful days, and I hope God bless you to have a great day today, So where are you originally from? I'm from Overbrook 🌺🌺🌺
Still in November 2024.
How can anyone dislike this? No song more powerful than singing about your predecessor!!!
Man, I love Classic Country! The best, IMO. Alan Jackson is great.
@Alan Jackson your very welcome 🤗 buddy love ❤️ ya beautiful 😍 song 🎵 thanks 🙏 ♥️♥️
I'll drink to that
that goes with today's music in general, most of today's music lacks a certain amount of soul to it.
A lot of modern music seems to lack the feeling, it used too
There are a few Stapleton is a bad motherfucker with soul like crazy Cody jinks is another one other than Stapleton nothing on the radio is worth a fuck anymore but there's still some real country in the underground scene
tyler childers and chris stapleton!!
Hank's death @ 29 years old is still the greatest loss to country music of all time. This song lives on just as Hanks lives today in my heart and soul.
Man this song still give me chills. Alan was a true king.
I still get chills every time I hear this song, 27 years later. Hank would be very proud to hear this
Much appreciation to Alan Jackson for putting out a song like this.
Alan tore the roof off of the Augusta Civic Center when he played this song. The center went eerily quiet when he started to play
Yes, Alan we're still here and you will always be one of The Greats and you will always be someone who keeps us on the straight and narrow roads of Country Music~!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is a beautiful haunting tribute to a legend.
yes he did!! and the first video had Hank walking through it.Godbless him!
