RDC World built themselves from the ground up. Their million plus subscribers aren’t charity follows. No need to discredit their hustle. They truly love manga and anime.

100% agree. This guy thinks he has all the answers for success, but what has he done? I've never heard of this guy, so why should anyone listen to him?

Bro is trying to make hit pieces until he gains traction from the algorithm. His claims are baseless or at best, misattributed.

@@eslinkunku799 He thinks he's the savior for western comics and therefor wants you to listen to him which is my problem with Koffee.

While I’m in no which way shape or form against the ManaA movement, We technically already have a term for stories told through sequential art in the west, and all of the other areas aside from France translate to that very same word, which is Comics. So if the only point was to not use the term Manga or get out of the shadow of manga why not just call it Comics? I feel that saying ManaA is its own medium inspired by Manga, while also using Japanese sound effects in your content etc keeps ManaA within the “shadow” of Manga.

Exactly. You say you want to distance yourself from something, but at the same time pay homage to it in name, delivery and acknowledgment.
You claim the industry won’t let you in (false claim btw), but you want to hold true to its tropes and characteristics.
It’s a message built on bleh.

ManaA will be its own thing. Soon you’ll see the point. If you really know me you know imma make it happen 😉 @deandre

its the fact that the term comics are so largely associated with stuff like Spiderman batman. Also, you're completely wrong about word meaning. To japan the word is comic and what they did was translated that word to make there own. That's how you say manga in those languages. The only one that's a straight up translation is japans

37:31 I wouldn't ask him to soften at all, but to be polite, respectful, and make his points with facts.
Unfortunately he's too prideful to understand this by himself. His morals are partly crippled.

    Really great interview!
I like his reasoning behind the name "ManaA" because of the biblical reference. but because Koffee points to himself as the source, I can't fully get behind it.
I like the sentiment, but y'know, he's not God.
One of the reasons why I really like what you have to say about manga and storytelling as a whole is because, as I see it, it's encouraging and others to create stories of substance. It was odd to me for me to hear Koffee to say he's the only one...as he's having an interview with you. (edit: after re-listening to this interview, I'm reacting to something Koffee has said in another video, not this one, my bad)
    About Koffee's delivery:
I do believe he *can* have more reach if he was to do that. Since Koffee appeals to scripture as inspiration for ManaA, I would point to verses like Proverbs 16: 21,24 as examples for how his words can be more persuasive *if* he's willing to be more garcious with what he says.
The suggestion you make in your follow up video I believe is an excellent example of this.
I know for me, it's easier to look past the harshness of his words to hear what he's saying. But what I appreciate about your follow up was the moment of reflection afterwards to think about his points.
I know a trap for me is equate the "matter of fact" way of speech to be trustworthy because of my background.
I think just continue to ask questions and you won't have to worry about an interview becoming a debate. It's a challenge and push back enough in an interview. It's also really great because you get to pull more out of the person as they respond.
    Great stuff

Eric July is corporate and not indie. He's not someone you can realistically aspire to be. How many indies do you know from the get-go can start up a company, have access to a warehouse, and be featured on FOX news with just one mediocre issue? Corporate connections and most likely corporate investments. There are many "right -wing" comic creators who are trying to go from that angle, but someone whose never worked in comics was able to take the indie scene by storm. Plus, his art are done by pros and freelancers.
