Jumped in at Super Helldive with my Arc Thrower, Jetpack, Rocket Sentry and Eagle Airstrike that first night. When the first harvester charged up to fire at me, I quite literally screamed "WHAT THE FUCK IS-" and Jetpacked away, that laser blast catching my foot and OH MY GOD IT"S SO STRONG. No one'd figured out the meta yet, the swarms were so so much worse than any bug breach, and the overseers were like bot raiders except with devastator armor AND THEY FLY. The Music, THE MUSIC WAS SO PERFECT. Everyone panicking, everythign dying and exploding around me. Arc Thrower was doing so so much work, but i was desperate for a guard dog, jetpack was okay but goddamn they just KEEP CHASING YOU. Then like - why 3 sam sites? Sure i'll set them up. *Cue maniacal laughing as UFOs start getting pancake stacked from missile after missile* HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH AND THEN SOMEONE FINDS THE BUGGY. DUDE TRIES TO FLAMETHROWER OUT IT AND WE ALL START BURNING. Car jackknifes and we ALL go flying, I jetpack but slam into a buidling Wiley Coyote Style. Absolutely traumatic experience, but goddamn it was beautiful. BTW, Scythe, sidearm of choice, impacts or fire nades, then Arc, LasGuardDog, Strafing Run and Machine Gun Sentry has me clearing 500+ rounds.
“Democracy calling” is the spirit of why this game is so good. It’s the reason the creek was such an event. The mix of hype and the genuine consequences create a gaming experience like no other. I got into the game because of malevalon creek, and I had played the game on and off mostly since then. But when the illuminate came back I felt the call as did so many others and I just had to stomp those squid’s. The addition of melee was also a pretty big motivator I won’t lie. But still, I think if helldivers had more of these apocalyptic “EVERYONE TO THE FRONTLINES NOW” moments then the game would be so much more fun.
First illuminate deployment i was in was on a defend mission. We had 2 mechs, 12 sentrys, a guy on an HMG, a 500kg in reserve, and we got absolutely destroyed since we had no clue how to fight them.
When y’all came over that hill & could see the city expanse to the horizon- that was freaking awesome.. I reinstalled the game last night after seeing a video on RUclips randomly that had clips of the illuminate & other update stuff. I’m so glad that they’re expanding the game & I hope that they continue to do so as I uninstalled it due to my getting kind of bored with it after a while. Played a few matches last night & tonight- had a blast riding around in the buggy with a .50 sounding off in the back. Glad they added cityscapes to the maps. Anyways, I’m rambling. Glad to be back.

This feels no where near Creek levels. There is no rocket spam. They aren’t shooting me through the walls. They actually miss when spamming shots at me. And the foliage is not nearly as bad, you can actually see things. Honestly, now that I am working out the vulnerabilities, these guys feel like they may be the best balanced faction.
In three days on Calypso we lost more divers than the Creek ever did in the entire campaigns made to defend, retake and redefend the Creek. War never changes. But the tactics used are subject to evolution.

I know it's making my PTSD act up... The battle was dubbed "The Day Calypso Cried". I would say it's a very fitting name based on the horrifying scene that I saw their. That planet will not see resettlement for 1,000 years.
@Adelic1 most of the helldivers leave before they see the cleanup effort. We the 777th Super Templars feel it is our duty to be there for fellow freedom lovers. I personally what's one of the first and last on calypso and by the time I left they were rivers of blue and purple blood. Millions were slaughtered or possessed by those demons. I was forced to murder my own cousins. I personally LED an effort to cover the whole planet in napalm. Like with mighty Carthage of the past, we salted the Earth. That battle deserves it's title has the new Malevolon Creek
As a newcomer to the game, I cant express how much I appreciate the drive for freedom and family values that Malevelon Creek and Meridia veterans had. But it feels to me that the liberation campaign against the Illuminate will leave some of us with much deeper scars, forcing us to stomp our own just to survive. Where there's a cleansing against bugs, where there's a violent war against bots, against this old-new threat is only a horror. Stand proud, zombdivers!

I know it's making my PTSD act up... The battle was dubbed "The Day Calypso Cried". I would say it's a very fitting name based on the horrifying scene that I saw their. That planet will not see resettlement for 1,000 years.

@Adelic1 most of the helldivers leave before they see the cleanup effort. We the 777th Super Templars feel it is our duty to be there for fellow freedom lovers. I personally what's one of the first and last on calypso and by the time I left they were rivers of blue and purple blood. Millions were slaughtered or possessed by those demons. I was forced to murder my own cousins. I personally LED an effort to cover the whole planet in napalm. Like with mighty Carthage of the past, we salted the Earth. That battle deserves it's title has the new Malevolon Creek

As a newcomer to the game, I cant express how much I appreciate the drive for freedom and family values that Malevelon Creek and Meridia veterans had. But it feels to me that the liberation campaign against the Illuminate will leave some of us with much deeper scars, forcing us to stomp our own just to survive. Where there's a cleansing against bugs, where there's a violent war against bots, against this old-new threat is only a horror.
