Super dangerous situation that people are making light of until 10 years down the road you find out you have lung cancer and you don't know where it came from
So the epa needs to figure out what the plume is made of even though y’all know what chemicals are in the facility and how they react…you’re choosing to withhold info until you figure how you want to manipulate it
I agree. I spent most of my life working in manufacturing plants. The local fire departments always knew what chemicals and materials we had in bulk and where they were located on plant grounds.
It’s so bad u can see it from newton county, I live a mile from bio lab and my current girlfriend works there. They won’t allow us to our house we’re so close
@@kateoneal4215 okay so it’s a chemical plant. They work with fluoride, chlorine, zinc oxide. Ect ect it pretty much caught fire due to a sprinkler system malfunction
Right. There isn't one thing to be smiling about when her slow butt is right there inhaling all the fumes that will do who knows what, but she smiling because she was given an opportunity to be the face of a very serious problem. Keep smiling.
Biolab makes residential and professional lines of pool and spa treatment chemicals.. So pure chlorine would be safe bet as to what's burning or reacting with water.
I appreciate the first responders. I do have a suggestion. My suggestion is to designate an alternate route to I-20 in advance so that it could be quickly established. Like it was people like me who aren't familiar with the area were feeling our way across backroads as best we could. GPS wasn't much help because, at least in my case, it would try and put me back on a closed section of the road (Google Maps & Waze). I was traveling west and in the end part of my route was through a residential subdivision. Not a big deal for a pickup truck but I was meeting 18-wheelers that would have a devil of a time making some of those turns. There was a much better route further south but it wasn't obvious on my iPhone screen.
Yes the pool chemicals give off heat and oxygen when mixed with water, making them hazardous. They often contain chlorine, which is very reactive. Been fires before over the years, just like this one. In fact a few years ago there was a fire at this same site.
You allegedly cannot name what the chemicals are...but you claim: "as of right now, we are protected where we are." Mmmmkay. Do you SEE the plume behind you?!
This company is British owned as of June 2024. Recochem is the owner. YTs, it may be intentional or retaliator. They make antifreeze, bleach, ev coolants, paint strippers, etc.
Wow! This reeks of incompetent DEI hires feel sorry for the people there. They have to rely on these people to do anything. God Bless them in that town

I don’t understand why they allowed sprinklers in the same room with chemicals that catch fire when mixed with water. Sounds suspicious.

So they make pool and spa chemicals? Ive never seen a pool or spa smoke like that or catch on fire when chemicals are added...
Pool chemicals have a lot of flammability, starting with the nitric acid and many others in concentrated commercial-grade form.
