As a fan of Luka, I legitimately thought the suns could shut Luka down this series because I thought Bridges, CP3, Crowder, Johnson all had the fundamentals or the physicality to match Luka. But Luka is absolutely just bulldozing his way through these guys. I always saw Luka as more of a Harden-esque pick and roll maestro but this guy legitimately has untapped potential as a post-up player. The dude has both an offensive bag and insane production. The suns gotta find an answer for him because if his teammates get going it’s over for them.
You know why?he's a big point guard..unless if luka is 6'1 he can't dominate..its very hard to guard a pointguard especially if he's big..he is bigger than other PG si he can post up..he is faster than forwards who guarded him..ask Claw and PH13..that's why he's unguarded because of his size and his position..period.
Only player who plays succesuful defence over the years on Luka was Simmons.

This man should take 6 threes a game max (good shots) on average and spend much more time in the post. Has such good skills. Improve his ft shooting to 80%, attack the basket, and he'll still average close to 30, but with over 50% fg

but its more than that as to why he does it. It's a mental game. If he stops shooting from the outside when the suns are going under the screen/drop coverage, then it removes that threat the defense has to worry about. Even if he misses, he still needs to be respected by the defense. Same thing with the post. If he always plays post then it removes his perimeter threat and makes it easy for the defense to key in on him. When you have a three-level scorer who is a triple threat you don't want to limit what he can do on the floor because that reduces the threat. Luka takes what the defense gives him. What is scary is even on an inefficient night he can still put up 26 + points and 11 assists with 8/9 rebounds. Think about it, if Luka hit 4 more threes that gives him 38 for the game.
50% from 2 is worse than 40% from 3 (which is basicly what he has been shooting since new year). 2 game sample sizes dont mean shit. Plus his shooting opens up inside game.

Mavs have a deep team but below avrage starting 5 around Luka (at least in terms of playoffs). He goes against other teams starting 5s and best defenders while their solid bench plays the few minutes he is off against other teams benches. It is literaly about team construction. Not that your peanut brain would even comperhand that. Tatum isnt even close to Luka. 3x better team around him and still achives nothing. Throw Luka on that Celtics team and they are EASILY championship favourites.
Great game by Luka! Just the 3pt percentage is an eyesore though ... The whole "if I'm missing shots I'll just keep shooting because otherwise I've beaten myself" narrative is sexy but does hurt your team. Mamba mentality is often misconstrued I reckon.
