I love this bio of The Band, and that Harry Dean Stanton, who Levon loved so much, is doing the narrative, this is so great!

The Band announcing that they were quitting , having a special last show , and then continuing to tour , messed up their public image . It made them look like they couldnt sell out a hall without saying it was their last show . Show biz messiness aside , their first three albums are very good .

1:35 Narrator says Ronnie Hawkins' first Canadian recruit was Robbie Robertson when that was Canadian, Scott Cushnie. No reason to get that fact wrong. Robbie Robertson in Testimony says Ronnie's piano player Scott Cushnie greeted Robbie Robertson when he got off the bus after it arrived in Fayetteville AK. Earlier, RR and Cushnie were in a band together in Toronto called "The Suedes." When bass player Jimmy Evans left the Hawks in 1960, Scott “Magoo” Cushnie (later known as "Professor Piano") was the one that talked Ronnie Hawkins into hiring Robbie Robertson as his replacement.
Hmmmm. 1:55 Also from Testimony p. 72, RR says that Fred Carter felt very competitive towards him despite his being considerably younger and inexperienced and that Carter didn't like any one trespassing on his turf and made a "snide remark about my practicing all the time" and the teenager retorted that "someday I'm gonna cut you."
BONUS 5:04 "Dion and the original Belmonts" on the marquee!
13:52 Levon follows Dylan to Woodstock? Doesn't mention Levon's return to his band because he doesn't mention his leaving. Starting to not like this. Most of the time it only take a couple of more words to be accurate.

Never heard of people having differing memories of certain events? It's actually quite common. What good have you done here apart from remembered/believed what you've heard/read. What makes yours true? 🤔

Lol you’re full off of it. Rather than Ronnie saying his view on it honestly, he must be paid off. Check out Levon’s writing credits on his solo albums. There are hardly any. Robbie wrote the songs, that’s established fact

That could be, that certainly makes more sense. Although Ronnie Hawkins was quite popular, but didn't make it nationally or internationally. Supposedly John Lennon stay with him when he and Yoko were in Toronto, and I think he was the Clinton inaguration. @@paularockwood2055
