This is one of those seasons of a show I wish I could erase from my memory just to rewatch it again for the first time. Cohle is a great character and I loved his philosophical rants and his banter with Marty. Great chemistry as characters and actors. Also the long shot episode was mmmmmmm chefs kiss. I like the idea there was no supernatural stuff going on, Cohle was hallucinating (again) at the end. And I like the angle that it really did happen.
All the other seasons… I want to remove from my memory and never watch again. So bad.

Yeah, I've probably watched season one around a half dozen times at this point, and never finished any of the others. I'm looking forward to a chance to review them, if only to witness how bad they are

In the inky sea of psychoanalytical videos of Rust's philosophy, you've managed to shift the perspective towards something else. I'd extend the allegory with addiction even further and argue that the "Tuttle cult" is the addiction itself, the absolute form with its vastness, in other words the aristotelian essence, if you will. Similarly to the Yellow king, the gang represents the ungraspable and supernatural concept of addiction and Errol Childress is solely an instance of it. This instance is then distributed to and put up against the dynamic duo of Marty and Rust with no logical reasoning behind it other than the act of fight itself. It's simply a part of life, a gear in an unstoppable mechanical leviathan of history crushing those in the past and affecting those in the future in an endless cycle.
    nice vid tho

I'm sure that's what Rust kept telling himself during all those years he was in Alaska
