I don't like micro-transactions, never ever paid for one before, but I don't mind this one as much, and I think I might even just buy a couple of things just to support the continued work that is being done on the game. I love how this video makes me feel like I play Sea of Thieves on the regular, even though this is like one of five videos I’ve ever seen of it. Also, Norwegian gang.
I do love the way they approached micro transactions though. The micro transactions are purely cosmetic, and you can find skeletons in game that can give you their premium currency. Then for their plunder pass, most items are free, but you can buy the premium version and get a few other cosmetics, basically as a thank you for supporting their game.
You had me until you said Festival of the Damned was bad. It encouraged a lot of the best player interaction I’ve ever been in and brought some much-needed color into the seas.
Listening to you struggle to pronounce "genuinely" has been my favorite moments of all the videos of yours I've bingewatched since starting this game a week ago.
I don't understand attacking a ship that just spawned in and hasn't even got a chance to get ready. However, as soon as a ship starts sailing then it's fair game. PvP in this game is super fun, that's the point of attacking ships with no loot.
@@Kezsora as long as you can admit that you're kinda being a dick by sinking someone who's got less than half the amount of people, isn't looking to fight and has just spent 5 - 10 mins stocking their ship, then yeah fair play aha.. I wouldn't mind a mode for grinders that (at the cost of 75% money and rep) would allow people to spend an hour or two on the seas and actually have something to show for it...
Well once my crew had done that because we were looking to sell our loot and were filled to the brim with it, so we did not want to risk sailing around any longer and since sinking a newly spawned ship is an easy way of ensuring the safety of our loot, we went for it.
My friends and I usually run a fishing galleon that stays nearby seaports. Ppl always try to sink is until we show them we have literally no valuable loot nor an emissary flag. If they do sink us we essentially keep ramming our newly spawned galleon into them over and over again until they sink or leave the server, then we go back to fishin'
For me and my friend, we so 2 persom sloops for thr two cannons. Often times a sloop v sloop is a long battle for whoever runs out of resources first, if you dont have gunpowder kegs. Now a brig v a sloop, is much easier with double the cannon power. I havent seen anyone put this reason yet so I thought id throw this out there. Great video!
Thats the only pro when doing a 2 man brigg ye got 1 cannon more all the Cons a 1 sails take longer to put up or down 2 the Anker takes way longer to get up and 3 2 People on each cannons means 0 People watching for ladders pretty much a easy target to kill
That's why your ultimate goal is boarding / killing and not endlessly shooting cannonballs until someone runs out. That's a very ineffective tactic against any matchup.
I finished all the tall tales and was like “there is a gold curse?!?! Sick!!!!!!!” Then I noticed I have to finish each one 5 times and find all the journals......wow
Here comes the biggest fight that the community has had from the beginning - PvP vs PvE players. PvP players hate on PvE players for working together with others and call out "It'S CalaED Sea fFOF THIeves not Sea of FRiends!!!11oneone" PvE players hate on PvP players because they chose to play as aggressive pirates. I find myself in the middle because I enjoy the best of both worlds. Respect others for their choice in style of playing the game. If you can't do that, then why should you have the right to be left alone with *your* way of playing? SoT since release has probably been my most favourite game there is so far, and the devs have made some great choices and improvements. I simply can't wait for more.
I agree with this. I'm a PvE player but I understand that I risk my loot sailing in waters with potentially hostile pirates. Sometimes I get annoyed but I respect that it's part of the game. This is why I learned defensive tactics instead of moaning on some forum. This way, I can enjoy PvP if someone tries to challenge me. If they beat me, they deserve the loot. (Also tall tales was great but 5 times per mission for those commendations? That's an F minus for Rare in my book)
See, the not having the option to opt out of PvP thing is the main reason I don't play games like this. I can respect that people like that aspect of a game, and I'm happy they found a game they like. I will just choose not to play a game that doesn't match with my tastes (no matter how much I'd be all over it if that one aspect was removed).
This is why many pve people left SOT and rust. The community literally screams "Screw off" at every opportunity, at some point the game will die, maybe not now, but it will happen. Let's hope PvP players keep coming in and not get chased off from playing the game
I just got this game about a month ago and one of my favorite things is to steal from all the veteran players and sink every ship I come across. No leveling system and total balance makes this game really easy to get into quickly. Any tryhards in this game are forced to rely on pure skill if they want a one up on anyone (or a bigger crew). This game is a treasure and the best pirate game I've seen.
But you’re also cutting off half the player interactions available to you when you never treat anyone as friendly. I don’t like this advice. Don’t be adverse to either fighting or alliances because both can be fun.
This is the way. Everyone in this comment section seems to be “if you steal my shit and kill me in a pirate game you’re toxic” or “MURDER MURDER MURDER KILL ON SIGHT DESTROY THEM ALL”. Everyone needs to chill out and do a bit of both
I 100% agree, I genuinely hate it when people only ever sink and then back it up with "Oh hahaha but thieves is in the titles and pirates do it" when actual pirates rarely ever just went and sank every single ship they saw regardless of whether or not they knew something is on board.
@@ampsywampsy9182 but some people like to fight because 1. Potential loot and you dont half to share a cut with the other crew 2. They like to be challenged or just like combat 3. Are a reapers emmisary

Nice video, as always. You put a lot of work into them. I don’t think they’ll let you buy premium items with gold, as many people would just grind them and Rare wouldn’t get the money they want out of micro transactions (even though they’re owned by Microsoft, which surely doesn’t lack resources). They’ll probably add the option to buy them with doubloons, which at the current state don’t buy much. ;)
Bout brig crews. My friend started to play sot 2 months ago, before that I always play as a solo sloop. After sometime he wanted to see other ship types, seeing in combat that brig was having no problems running away froms us. After playing on brig and getting full sails he really loved it, so now I have to 2 man brig cause my friend loves going fast and none of our friends liked the game. ALSO GREAT VIDEO AS ALWAYS
Found this video after it's 1.5 years old. The ending wish is my current wish today. I'm often inconvenienced by the title cards at the worst times. I like your videos, very entertaining and high quality. I'm always impressed by people who are bi-lingual.
Personly I have no issues with micro transactions as long as they are not p2w and most importantly "you know exactly what you are buying" SoT ticks both boxes... I don't mind one bit spending on this game... we get regular updates and we know what we are buying so I fully support it
1:47 You literally just showed us that you have not bought a lot of stuff from the clothing shop... complain that there’s nothing to spend gold on when you own everything like me
@AbsolutePixel So you can play pirate dress-up and do a fashion montage of course. Duh. I agree with you, gold is pointless in the game. I just play the game as a kind of roleplaying sandbox and forget about expecting any sense of progression. Most times I don't even bother selling loot.
I know this is an old video, but I just want to say your English is very good, an important aspect that you seem to have mastered is inflection and how to communicate sarcasm and other sub textual expressions. Props to you!

There are tons of reasons to 2 man a brig. Waiting for your third. Takes longer to sink. Fastest ship in crosswinds (the thing you are in 90% of the time) It really doesn't take that much more effort to run than a sloop. 2 cannons on each side so you can both be shooting. I have once met a dude soloing it. Like that was his preferred solo ship and he was a menace in that thing.
A duo sloop is actually the strongest ship in the game if both players are excellent. It being so nimble just opens up opportunities that even the most seasoned pirates can't physically do on a Brig or Galleon.
i would like to try out sea of thieves, feel this athmosphere, aprecciate the artistic direction, and even die and sink my ship because of other players, that would be cool, too bad i am another one of those persons that cant because well, my computer wouldnt run it and i dont have the money to buy (its 200R$ in brazil ffs)
Pixel, the reason you see 2 player brigs more then 3 is because of a mind trick. If you were on a galleon, you are more likely to sink to a full crewed brig then to a full crewed sloop. Even if there is only 2 on the brig, seeing the brig from a distance will give a different reaction, thinking the brig if fully crewed, making the risks are higher than a sloop. Its essentially to make other ships not attack. Most sloops will not attack a larger ship, since they have more members then you. SUMMARY: 2 player brig makes you think there are 3 players and you want to attack it less even though its the same amount of people as a sloop, which you would most likely attack. ALSO: I was on a brig doing Shroudbreaker SOLO because my 2 friends were late/AFK. I fought off a skeleton galleon and another big AT THE SAME TIME. Are you proud of me yet lord of the seas? True gamer moment^^^^^ lol sorry for the long comment xD
2 player brigs because you expect a 3rd player to come on in a min, but then another person wants to join so you have to join a galleon. That's usually what happens for me in a 2 man brig
this game is for nearly completing tall tales before getting into a 30 minute ship battle, one of your crew members leaves mid fight, so you gotta jump off with the two dang gems in a chest and stash them on an island to come back for, just to both get caught in a kraken and both sink in a blaze of glory. (and yes we did go back for the gems and completed the tall tale)
Completely agree with your suggestions for island title screens and more PVP commendations, that is something I have been wanting for sometime now as well.
Well the only thing I will defend here are the microtransactions. Because the way they are done is very harmless. First off, this is not an EA game where the next game will release next year anyways, this is a loooong term project, so if the only revenue they ever got was when you originally buy the game, they would go bankrupt really fast. Also there is no gambling stuff, only buying the premium currency and spending it on things in the emporium, you know what you will get beforehand every single time. Lastly, aside from some stuff like holiday weapons, there is no fear of missing out as stuff stays in the emporium, and even for holiday stuff, it gets brought back on those holidays next year. The only stuff that is truly time limited and exclusive is usually behind very short term events or something, which I hate because what, am I not a loyal enough fan because I was sick that weekend? But yeah, the microtransactions themselves aren't bad in the slightest imo. They are just you buying cosmetics, no gambling, no "surprise mechanics", 100% transparency and again, it is necessary for this game to even make money long term. Anyways, funny video, just wanted to point that one thing out :^)
Lots of two player crews use the brig over the sloop because when you are in the wind, the brig is tremendously faster and allows you to get to your destination a lot quicker.

A famous game like this would be league of legends, doesn't cost anything, constant updates and cosmetic items are the only thing that's more difficult to get without spending money but not impossible, I've played hundreds of hours without spending a pound on the game so it's definetely free to play whereas sea of thieves you have to purchase immediately making it not "free to play" then there are micro transactions within the game itself as well. The game itself isn't bad but calling a game with an upfront price "free to play" is slightly strange.
@@sympunny8636 Who said it was f2p? I replied to the guy that said he knows of F2P games that dont have alternative revenue streams. I said they dont exist and you just gave an example of one that does have an alternative revenue stream.

How does this guy not have more followers if you actually play sea of thieves this video is pretty funny
I'd be willing to buy an item or 2 to support the game for sure. I've gotten a ridiculous amount of time out of sea of thieves.
Prophet I’m the same at this point, I almost want to give more money considering what I’ve gotten from it
I would also support my favorite game! More money->motivation-> MORE AWESOME CONTENT
Bet you think watching the grass grow is exciting too
I agree. This game has gotten so much better, without us players even paying for the improvements we get on the updates. And the things you buy has absolutely no importance, it doesn't give you an edge in any way, it's just a bit of fun.
I don't like micro-transactions, never ever paid for one before, but I don't mind this one as much, and I think I might even just buy a couple of things just to support the continued work that is being done on the game. The amount of fun I've gotten for the money I payed, makes me a very grateful pirate.
Dean McCallister i do that. i get sunk and killed quite often then i get sad and cry about it (off mic of course) 😂😂😂 i just want to sail, do my quests and voyages in peace and be left alone lol

I dont mind loosing all my loot. I just dont understand what the point of attacking a ship that just spawned in is.
Kezsora But what are you getting out of it....because soon it’s going to be boring doing the same shit over and over
Well once my crew had done that because we were looking to sell our loot and were filled to the brim with it, so we did not want to risk sailing around any longer and since sinking a newly spawned ship is an easy way of ensuring the safety of our loot, we went for it.
Glad that you are getting more recognition Pixel!
8:00 if I run a 2 man Brig, it's because I have a friend coming online in an hour
I'm usually solo or dual on a brig. It's faster and allows room for friends when they jump on.

My tiny little wish is MORE music in the backround.
0:13 GameStar! Greetings from Germany!
Here comes the biggest fight that the community has had from the beginning - PvP vs PvE players.
PvP players hate on PvE players for working together with others and call out "It'S CalaED Sea fFOF THIeves not Sea of FRiends!!!11oneone"
PvE players hate on PvP players because they chose to play as aggressive pirates.
@@beanstheclown Then SoT is unfortunately not the game for you.
I like being a spy and allying myself to a crew before backstabbing them and taking most of their loot with me in my sloop. It's fun.
This is why many pve people left SOT and rust. The community literally screams "Screw off" at every opportunity, at some point the game will die, maybe not now, but it will happen. Let's hope PvP players keep coming in and not get chased off from playing the game
When his wish came true and there’s a card that says when you arrive that’s an epic gamer moment
omg the pirate legend who said "please stop" made me criiiiiiiiiinnnnnggggggggeeeeee
Especially if an alliance turns nasty and you end up with the other parties loot.
@@ampsywampsy9182 but some people like to fight because
1. Potential loot and you dont half to share a cut with the other crew
2. They like to be challenged or just like combat

After playing on brig and getting full sails he really loved it, so now I have to 2 man brig cause my friend loves going fast and none of our friends liked the game. ALSO GREAT VIDEO AS ALWAYS

People whining about microtransactions need to realise that this is necessary for regular content updates.
Personly I have no issues with micro transactions as long as they are not p2w and most importantly "you know exactly what you are buying" SoT ticks both boxes... I don't mind one bit spending on this game... we get regular updates and we know what we are buying so I fully support it

There are tons of reasons to 2 man a brig.
Waiting for your third.
Takes longer to sink.
Fastest ship in crosswinds (the thing you are in 90% of the time)
It really doesn't take that much more effort to run than a sloop.
2 cannons on each side so you can both be shooting.
I have once met a dude soloing it. Like that was his preferred solo ship and he was a menace in that thing.
a brig is better in almost every way IF sailed right. it can be done with two players.
I solo play with the Brig. Kraken is the Kryptonite of solo Brigging though.
A duo sloop is actually the strongest ship in the game if both players are excellent. It being so nimble just opens up opportunities that even the most seasoned pirates can't physically do on a Brig or Galleon.
If microtransactions mean the servers can keep running, I'll take it
i would like to try out sea of thieves, feel this athmosphere, aprecciate the artistic direction, and even die and sink my ship because of other players, that would be cool, too bad i am another one of those persons that cant because well, my computer wouldnt run it and i dont have the money to buy (its 200R$ in brazil ffs)

When I clicked on this video I didn’t expect to see The Know AND Inside Gaming in the first 30 seconds….a surprise to be sure but a welcome one
Really cool to see that most of the things talked about in this video are now better nowadays in sea of thieves
when i play a brigatine with only 2 people, i usually do that because i'm making sure that a friend can join
Really good executed video, good points and I really like your editing style A+ for you!
True gamer moment^^^^^
lol sorry for the long comment xD
It's just that you love it and want to see it improve and pointing out those things is part of your passion
2 player brigs because you expect a 3rd player to come on in a min, but then another person wants to join so you have to join a galleon. That's usually what happens for me in a 2 man brig
Dude I’ve never seen your channel but I love your voice. Subbing
this game is for nearly completing tall tales before getting into a 30 minute ship battle, one of your crew members leaves mid fight, so you gotta jump off with the two dang gems in a chest and stash them on an island to come back for, just to both get caught in a kraken and both sink in a blaze of glory. (and yes we did go back for the gems and completed the tall tale)
1st video of seen of you and was awesome :D
Completely agree with your suggestions for island title screens and more PVP commendations, that is something I have been wanting for sometime now as well.
Also when you said sea of friends I started laughing because I remember telling a friendly group "it's called sea of thieves not sea of friends"
Anyways, funny video, just wanted to point that one thing out :^)
Completely agree on the island title cards popping up...in addition to the grievances you listed, it actually causes lag as well.
Just subd to your channel and I got to say it's awesome. It amazing at how little most players in this game actually know about it
2 years later and the game is almost a whole game, wowee!
Lots of two player crews use the brig over the sloop because when you are in the wind, the brig is tremendously faster and allows you to get to your destination a lot quicker.
You are the best youtuber you deserve more subs for Sure you are so funny i love it :)
