You know, I'm willing to bet that the V8 engine will Outlast just about every other inline 3,4 or 6-cylinder out there simply because they were built strong to last long
Any engine can be built to last long. Building an engine to last long while extracting its maximum potential is the tricky part. In general, the higher the cylinder count, the more reliable the power output. More cylinders reduce the load on any one point of the bottom end. Unfortunately, packaging a V8 is tricky, as it is a similar length to a 4 cylinder, but additional width (especially in the case of dual overhead cam V8s, such as the Toyota/Lexus 2UR-GSE) makes it very challenging to place in a modern engine bay while keeping everything accessible and easily serviced. Old cars had 3 wires, new ones have more than I care to count, and that ultimately puts pressure on packaging. My dream is to live in a world where VR8 engines are the gold standard. An extremely narrow banked 8 cylinder would have the external dimensions of a 4 cylinder, could use a single head for both very close together banks to save engineering time on the timing system and manufacturing costs on the other lump of metal. As an additional note, cylinder deactivation technology is far more viable in narrow angle engines, as 2 banks sharing 1 head allows the deactivated cylinders to keep warm to avoid developing carbon deposits, as is common in many cylinder deactivation systems found in V shaped engines.

I'd be down for a hybrid V8. If the 918 and LaFerrari taught us anything, is it's possible to combine low-end and instant torque with NA engine goodness
this will be running fine in 100,000 miles with minimal maintenence, while you'll be on your second tesla
If I had the money it'd be a no brainier. V8 all day. Miss my old sequoia
I just read the new press release from a few days ago that the 2024 will still be V8. IS 350 keeping the V6 😍
Lol Nathan is the best 😂 cheers brother 👍
I have an 04 rx330 3.3L V6 almost 230k miles on the clock and am looking to stay in the Lexus Fam with this is500. Never had the need for the V8 cause I would get in a lot of trouble with this car way more power than I need driving to the grocery store. With that being said, the reliability of a Toyota/Lexus V8 will means if I can get my hands on one and drive it for the rest of my life 20+ year I will do it. A Lexus is a bit of money $60k which is a lot for regular folk who want a nice fun car, however if you keep up with maintenance it will last a very long time. Very limited supply and high demand for this prices will hold steady.
My local dealer said $15k dealer markup on these so I bought a like-new AMG for $30k less.
Yeah but you will pay 200k on repair bills
@@bobdylan6773 Yes, because ALL AMG cars require 200k in repairs and ALL Lexus cars have never required a repair. Got it.
I got my IS 500 for MSRP and got a decent trade offer, too.
@@ARentz07 I'm in Miami :( He said a few month's wait and 10 to 15k over sticker. I wasn't that interested so I left it at that.
@@robbielex Next time, you can try phoning in other areas in the country, Miami is a hot spot, so even if the IS 500 isn't exactly a GT3 in terms of desirability, it'll still be hard to get.
V8's and ICE are not going away. This EV stuff will dampen down once more people get them and their current limitations become more widely known and we see "honest", not fanboy, reviews on them. I actually think that is starting to happen a bit even now.
Saving up for one, but will have to purchase pre owned and will have to wait a few years till I can afford one. I hope they go down in price and the quality will stay great
Been trying to get a Premium in that crazy blue with black interior. Dealer can't find one.
I really really love what i see of this car.
I would not however trade my white 2016 atsv coupe (zzp exhaust..295r 18 pilot ss rear tires...Wow!)for it. You can now get a 16 to 19 with low miles for less than 40k as a shopping option..
Mfp loaded at the time was 75k. I bought mine 3yrs ago for 38k..32k miles.
I have other toys so i seldom drive it .. 40k miles.... and it is still a show stopper.
Nice! I live in Colorado too but went for the Grecian Water blue IS350 just because of the AWD option. This thing would be a snow sled in the mountains driving on the i70!
Put a set of Michelin X Ice Snow and this thing will drive thru blizzards.
The 2014 and newer IS line looks so good.
My only complaint about any of this was the doofus camera man sticks the mic right into the air steam.. stand back a bit dude we can hear it 😂
I think for the price 4 sedan, I finally agree I think it’s fair price. I can’t remember last time I thought the price for the car.
I can’t decide if I want one of these or a Darkhorse Mustang. Have always wanted a Mustang. But I love the look, reliability, and Luxury of this car. Which should I choose?
I’ve had two mustangs and three Fords total. Get this.
Get the Lexus
Such a sick car. Bummer about the V8s.
Beautiful vehicle. I have a 350 and it’s great too
I want one. I would find it a fitting retirement vehicle to go take a nice sporting ride in.
Man i need this car ASAP
V8s sounds a lot better than those blowdryers!!
My dream car
Purchased one 🎉 2023
Omg I want this car so bad but I love my 2016 IS350 already and can't justify any more car payments
Initially want a blue one but Got one in Molten Pearl very cool color ❤
I'd buy that over an EV anyday
As far as cars two things I would never do is buy a truck or muscle car with anything smaller then a v8 or buy a brand new car with anything less then a v8 shoutout to Lexus
Anyone know when the last production year for the IS 500 will be? I mean this version with the NA V8.
I love my v8 Lexus gx. It’s amazing
I wish it had the F seats. Yet, still love it.
Late to the party, but I absolutely would. We'll see what my bonus is this year, lol. Or maybe I'll grab one used if I can. I was a Buick driver, and the last Buick I loved was a Park Avenue Super from the 90s. It was my first car. I didn't realize how special it was or I'd never have gotten rid of it. Now I'm a Lexus guy because I want something reasonably fast and comfortable and my friends, if you've never taken a 90s boat to a track and just stretched it for all its worth, you're missing out. I want a comfortable car with GO. I do not want an SUV, I want a *car.* And I'm mad at Cadilac because GM sacrificed buick innovation so many times to neuter the brand. Remember the GNX? Killed for corvettes. Toyota isn't competing with itself when it makes Lexuses. So they're able to roll stuff like this out. Buick is dead, long live Lexus.
I must have one.
Love this car!
Does this have the 8 speed from the ISF too?
😂 nathan is funny without even trying.
Nathan is a Lexus fan, just like me :)
If i had 64 im copping this over an ev every day
I am having a difficult time deciding between this and the M340i.
60k, not bad at all
Too small though
They are all marked up, and the one at my dealership is $88k
@@taipeikartmanThis car is pretty massive and heavy by sports* car standards. Unlike with SUVs fun cars don't add value with size. The payment is for the engine and driving dynamics
@@videogazer801 I got mine for MSRP like 5 months ago. If you find the right dealer, so can you.
@@allentoyokawa9068 subjective
I want this in caviar so much
Almost pick that up but got 4Runner instead more practical..
4Runners are fantastic choice
Totally different type of car 😂 4runners are good but boring.
Y’all are just so sure that EV will become the standard, it’s funny.
4 door v8 the only other option is dodge with a 5.7 or 6.4 thatll run you the same or up to 25k more, where the build quality ,fit ,finish and options will be less, similar performance and more likely to be stollen, I would pay 59 to 64k for the is500 in a hart beat.
Would take a V8 over some smaller turbo engine in a heartbeat
They should make a exhaust option from factory for tho so it sounds more like the lc500 and gsf
For me, it's between this and a 4Runner.
I'm starting to like this over the LC. Yes I'm stupid 😂😂😂
I live in Colorado. If it was AWD, it’d be in the garage already.
Seats are perfect fit!! No need to make them any bigger or wider. Bolsters hug perfectly holding me in the seat when cornering.
What a beautiful vehicle!!!!
Can you drive this in the winter? Worried about the RWD only.
