    Karen, this may sound odd to you, and I am sure *plenty of people* have suggested just about anything and everything to you. I am 51, and "had" hormonal migraines, like my mother. They lessened in menopause for my mom, and it looks like it's going that way for me as well. I had them regularly as of age 13/14 and they were *awful* and extremely painful and debilitating. I have learned, through the years, to take something as "silly" as ibuprofen (but high dosage: 800mg) as soon as the aura hit me (disturbance in my vision with a slight headache). If I did that, it never got terrible. I had them very weirdly too. Doctors could not figure out whether migraines or cluster. There were plenty of times when I was in bed with a bucket next to me, shaking, just sick, and not able to stop the constant ice-pick sensation that seemed to be stuck in my eye socket. Just... awful times. Anyway, why the ibuprofen? I was in a car wreck and suffered a dash board injury (later turned CRPS/disability), so I was going to an orthopedist at the time and he told me to take ibuprofen in a high dosage (800mg) for the inflammation, because in that dosage, it is an anti-inflammatory and not just pain medicine. Magically, I found just by taking it regularly, that it lessened the nasty effect of a migraine, and sometimes even stopped it dead in its tracks. Who would have thought? Not me! I am sharing my story, in hopes it might aid you, maybe it wasn't even on your radar. Do not laugh it away, and say, oh yeah right ibuprofen, this girl obviously doesn't know what a real migraine is. No; it's not like that. I *know full well* what a real migraine is. I went through it all, the exams, the neurologists, the heavy medication. I just thought I'd mention it, because... I mean, you never know. Paracetamol does zip for me. Codein? Zip. Tramadol. Zip. Also went through the prophylactics. Nope. It has to be a simple anti-inflammatory, just ibuprofen in a high dose. And it just does something for it that is a mystery to me, to this day! Not complaining, mind you. Hope you find something. Every person is different. I full well understand that. Still, I wanted to share and I hope you don't mind. All the best to you.

      Thanks so much for taking time to comment. I would never think bad of any suggestion! Sadly NSAIDS are no longer for me, even though they do work for my migraine. It was my Dad when he was alive that suggested I try Beecham and it worked well (its aspirin) but that was all just before I was in hospital with the stomach issues. I was on Ibuprofen for many years for my arthritis, along with Omeprazole to protect my stomach. Unfortunately Ibuprofen eroded my stomach and now if I take any NSAID, especially Ibuprofen, it feels like I'm having a heart attack :0( I've been told never to go near it again. When I've been in very high pain with migraine, I've tried low dose aspirin but I ended up in A&E needing morphine for the stomach cramp and chest pain from it. Thankfully Tramadol works well for me so I take that 3 times a week. Thanks again for commenting though, always interesting to hear suggestions and things that have worked for others. x

      @@TheBeautyMaverick Thank you so much, first of all, for understanding. I meant no harm by my story and I am so glad that came across. I am so sorry to hear of your "adventures" with your migraine. My God, it sounds as if you've been through the wringer. I'm glad Tramadol works! At least, it's something! I took it for chronic (nerve) pain for many years, before going on buprenorphine & gabapentin (I have CRPS, complex regional pain syndrome), so a *lot, a lot* of pain. The Tramadol only took the edge off, and it took doctors a while to realize, well she's not having children any time soon, let's put her on a serious pain program. Being in pain is hell. I know what it's like to have pain and no relief from it (9 years without any pain meds before their penny dropped). I was in bed 24/7 for years before the pain medication was administered. I hope things become at least a little brighter for you in the future. I do miss you on YT. Maybe Instagram shorts are something for you? Just throwing it out there, not that it is a must, Karen. I think focusing on your health is the best decision, ever! Good luck!

    I don't know your story, but a chiropractor can help with your neck and shoulder. You might have hypermobility -- gives you joint pains, gut issues and array of other issues and a chiropractor would help with that if you ask. Also, certain foods like red wine and hard cheese contain tyramine which could be a trigger for migraines. Try and avoid those foods for 2-3 weeks and see! Hope that helps.

      Hi, thanks so much for your comment. I do have EDS Hypermobility yes, I have done many videos on it. I also did a video about my Chiropractic experiences (he broke my rib). The red wine and cheese is a bit of a myth according to 3 neurologists I have seen. I did however do a specific migraine diet. All my health videos are on my other channel, Life as a Zebra, in case you are interested :0) Thanks again. x

    Take care of yourself, we will be here when you decide to be able to come back. Prayers for you and precious Watson, my goodness he’s 9. My Dobi has bloodwork coming up in about a week to see how his pancreatitis is coming along. He’s only been eating his prescription wet and dry low fat dog food and his dental chew stick. Dobi has this hacking dry cough that I’m worried about. We are away from home but he had X-rays taken of his chest that I had sent to his vet back home and just finished his antibiotics and cough tabs. He’s not dry hacking like he was before the meds. The vet here said X-rays looked good. Just a nervous wreck till we get him back home to his vet. He’s had this kind of cough every now and then we just thought it might be allergy related.🙏🏻❤️

    So sorry to hear you're struggling with with your health. I too am a fellow migraine sufferer and had a hard time at work because of the times i was off sick. My manager said to me "You can't have any more migraines!" ?? So lucky that i was able to retire early. I wish i had the answer for you and all the other migraine sufferers. Mine are less severe now at least. I was taking propranolol (beta blocker,) for years. Think they helped a bit. Now i just take Sumatripton when i get one - usually but not always helps. Really hope you find something to help you. X

    Just some anecdotal: I received HRT in the last couple of months. In the last couple of years, I was having joint pain in my right ankle and my left shoulder. I didn't those were menopausal symptoms. HRT really helped me. No more sweeling on my right ankle and my frozen shoulder pain is going away. I have been keto & then low carb since 2018. I thought that would alleviate most problems, but I needed my hormones, estradiol & progesterone. Be well.

    I'm guessing you've probably been asked so many questions about your migraines, but I just wanted to comment with something that I discovered years ago about potential causes of migraines (just in case it's not something that's not been mentioned & you've not tried before, & just in case it helps), which was that they could be caused by dairy products, citric acid, & alcohol. After discovering that years ago I completely stopped consuming anything that contained dairy or citric acid, including foods & drinks with citric acid, as well as fruits (& didn't drink alcohol anyway as I was pretty young anyway) - it was very restrictive, but it seemed to pretty much stop the migraines at that point. Years later I re-introduced fruit & citric acid again, but I'm still wary of having certain types of fruit (or larger amounts). I've not consumed dairy since (even including chocolate etc.!). I loved chocolate, but I didn't even question giving it up if it meant it minimised the migraines I had, which pretty much included the whole works of the most severe symptoms possible...even when family members tried to offer what would have been quite large amounts of money to someone at the age I was at the time, to try to get me to eat a tiny amount of certain things (such as my previously favourite fruits!).
    Apologies if you've tried these things previously, but I just wanted to mention them just in case they're of any help at all...as I totally understand how completely debilitating & upsetting having to deal with having migraines (& what they steal from your life) can be. I hope you find something that really works for you.

    • @TheBeautyMaverick
      @TheBeautyMaverick  11 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks so much for your comment, I'm always open to suggestions! I did try dairy free very briefly although at the time I wasn't really eating much. I've drank almond milk for many years and the only dairy I eat is cheese. My neurologist told me that if food was a trigger it would happen pretty quickly. Citric acid I will look into a bit more, but I rarely eat fruit as I try to eat low carb. Thanks again for taking time to comment! x

    • @jof1495
      @jof1495 11 месяцев назад

      @@TheBeautyMaverick No problem at all. In case it also helps, I thought I'd add that when I ate/ drank dairy products, they never seemed to trigger migraines quickly afterwards (which always made it really hard to know what was definitely causing them)...but I was so desperate at the time that when I heard dairy might be a potential problem, I just decided to cut it out anyway...& the same when I heard about the other things. With citric acid/ fruits, I do remember having migraines a few days after eating way too many really citrussy fruits quite close together on a couple of occasions...but I think I remember it tending to be being a few days after that I got a few migraines close together.
