As someone who was skeptical of Cody's return to WWE, the fact that they kept everything the way it was really sold it for me.
People don't give Vince, HHH and Kevin Dunn enough credit for recognizing what really really works.

I was literally seeing comments before his return that, "imagine if Cody returns and comes out to "Kingdom," or "If Cody comes back, they better play Kingdom in that stadium!"
That was the most shocking of all. People predicted Cody would return, but returning with everything in his indies/AEW package looking like a big star? Nah. WWE has never done that ever.
Smartest decision a wrestler could make. A theme could make or break a wrestler. And Kingdom was synonymous with this iteration of Cody Rhodes, if he returned with one of his old WWE themes, that would just undermine everything he went through. Or they would've given him a def rebel song, and we know that would've been terrible.
But I like his "Smoke & Mirrors" theme

Always loved Kingdom by Downstait. Another amazing track from theme. We never will forget seeing Cody live for ROH in 2018 when he took on Dalton Castle for the world title. Hearing that track live was epic. So happy to see the response it’s getting week after week.
It's such a damn good song man. I'm so glad he kept it because it really add so much to his presentation. WWE forgot how important is to have a theme song and how much it does to the character they are presenting on TV
How cody fought to get his own theme he used for 6 years on the indies really is surprising and sad at the same time

One thing I think WWE has improved about their presentation of Cody's music is anytime Cody has a hot entrance to make a save or some super charged entrance to confront someone, they have cut the "intro beat" and the "Wrestling has more than one royal family." and instead go straight to the guitar rift. That hits much harder in those hot entrance moments, while the full intro for planned entrances before a scheduled match or promo still fits extremely well.
He's lame, he's making wwe super predictable with his stupid finish the story crap. Once he loses its all over and we need to move on to better things
They used to do that with the Rock back in the day. After his matches he’d win or after he comes on top for a face off they would cut the “if ya smell” part and go straight to the music
@@ABCDyeahyeahyeah I think they still do that actually. If you go back and look at the end of his "joining the Bloodline" promo from a week or so ago, they cut straight to the music after he drops the "If ya smell what the Bloodline is cooking!" line. Makes a ton of sense.
@@ssj2camaro21 Yup, it's so predictable, everyone thought he was going to win at Mania last year. And when he didn't, most people complained it was a poor decision. Now, here we are a year later, and the overwhelming majority of the crowd is so bought into this two-year story that they revolted against WWE's plans for a Rock v Roman main event and it forced WWE to change their plans altogether. No one says you have to like the story, but it's by far the most compelling, long-range booking WWE has done in years and it has clearly gotten over with the lion's share of the fan base. I'm sure post-Mania we'll get some new, fresh story lines with the belt on Cody.

He’s talking about Cody’s entrance and pyro timing. It wasn’t until March 2023 where they perfected the entrance. Look at his early entrances in 2022

Only lyric in Kingdom that doesn't make sense to me is "you took my dreams, but not my name!", shouldn't it be the exact opposite? WWE literally wouldn't let Cody use the Rhodes last name for years, but still couldn't take away his dreams.
So while I do agree with you, he left WWE dejected, they took his dream of being a wrestler in WWE away. But they didn’t take his name, his namesake or his legacy.
Also, it’s a play on life. Life took The American Dream, his father away, but not his father’s name. Now he gets to live up to his father’s name and be the dream he never had.
Or the nightmare in Cody’s case. 😉
