My attention span has been awful lately thanks to TikTok and RUclips shorts so I always fail to watch 10+minute videos to the end but this was EXTREMELY entertaining. THANK YOU for this video. Truly amazing.
Im not gonna lie, I definitely accept thst as an art piece. Its not just some banana taped to a wall or buckets falling over or a roller coaster in a musuem. Its something meaningful where the person went through tons of trial and error to get up truly into the skies to capture a cloud and bring it back down and technically preserve it as a cloud. I think thats actually cool as hell and would love to have one if the price wasnt thousands. Nice.
More interesting than any modern art piece i've seen. Even just putting a mister into a glass box is quite interesting, to have 'i've captured a cloud' on top of that, it captures the imagination.
I have some really good ideas revolving around conceptualizing the intangible, ephemeral, or abstract, much like this that make one of a kind pieces but I might try and do them myself at some stage so I don't wanna give away the ideas. But this has inspired me.
From an art point of view this is far from bad. It is fairly conceptual but also has some legitimacy due to the back story. I have seen art with far less work done or originality sell for much more. You haven't ripped off the buyer and everyone is happy. It's actually a pretty decent piece of work!
There is another way that would have made your piece much more amazing to look at. The Science is 20 years in my past now, but I remember in class making an actual cloud in a jar and it just required the debris (motes of dust or ash, really, for the moisture to collect upon), and a change in the pressure between inside of the jar and the outside classroom. The results look amazing, like a miniature cloud in a jar. Your cloud being taken from the sky and then turned into this cloud-in-a-jar form would have visually looked the part, in my opinion, much more than a fog machine. The result floats in the center of the jar and is literally a miniature cloud. Edit: I forgot to say I'd spend a zillion dollars on that. The idea of a cloud straight from the sky is fascinating, and your video from way up there is incredible.
That's cool but what is going to happen when the fogger reaches the end of its service life and needs replacing? Surely then the cloud will disappear and become worthless.
Thought the same.. however is there a generally accepted rule that an art piece has to stay intact indefinitely? I could think of it as more of an "event" like a firework, or a special "pet haha. Also something about the fact that it won't last forever adds a message to the whole art piece ,,some things, as beautiful as they are can't be captured and encaged.
@@Sebaxtain don’t get me wrong I’m not criticising it from an artistic point of view I’m just surprised that someone would pay so much for it because most art collectors buy art as an investment because it holds its value.
@@Gabrielm624 well, he lied ofcourse its rated higher, he said "kinda but not really" to the question if a kettle or humidifier is involved, a straight up lie. art would be to find chemicals that release vapor like this and so have a perpetual cloud machine.
This is something I'd buy. I mean, I have no idea about any art. But this is something I like. Someone capturing a cloud, putting it in a glass cube and re-evaporating it. And when a guest comes and asks "what about that blurry box?" You could just say, some weird YT guy flew up, caught a cloud and put it in a box. Its good to look at and its funny.
congrats josh!!! also, this reminds me of an old episode of Doug, where he's given a jar of air from the top of some mountain. i think the art piece is really nice, tbh
I think the original plastic bag as a standalone would have been worth 10-20 times as much , because it was a first contact element with cloud , you dont need to use external source of glass Box

Theres a buyer out there for anything and hes the perfect one for that piece the natural fog aspect helps his bug exhibition like a terrarium but with no maintenance required.
For a lot of pieces of modern art, it's more or less about the concept and journey behind it rather than the actual physical piece itself. While the initial words of catching a cloud in a bag and selling it as art sounds dumb, art collectors/appreciators could see it as a man trying to make his childhood dreams of having a cloud in a jar a reality. It's like how you can wear almost anything to a high fashion show and people will be able to appreciate it because they interpret it in their own way.
Modern art is just a way for the rich to swap money to one another. Nothing about it is art. Nothing about this is art. He didn't look at nothing and make something, thats what art is. Its creation. This is not that.
@@ryanscoffeehour6404 Everyone is allowed to their own opinion on what is good or bad art, but to deny any kind of art is to deny the concept of art itself. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so therefore, anything can be art. By your definition, no piece of art would actually be art because every artpiece, whether it's a drawing, sculpture, or music is an idea inspired by something else. Art is ultimately the expression of one's self and Zac did just that in this video. Was HIS idea of catching a cloud and putting it in a jar not an expression of what HE thinks? Was the action of physically going into the clouds with a bag and gathering the condensation with his hands not HIS expression of how he wanted to do it? Was presenting it the way he did not HIS expression of what is art? This entire video was all created by his ideas and that's what makes it art.
@@DeadBeatDex no, everything you have said is either wrong, heavily misconstrued and twisted or completely grasping at straws. But I will be more than happy to go through piece by piece and shred everything you have said into a million fine little pieces. This will be fun... First, and foremost let me dissect and rip apart the "everything and anything can be art". Let's start by breaking down what art is. Art is; "the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power." Or it can be a synonym for passing skill in a subject. Ex. The art of fencing. This is what art is. There is an art(skill) to paragliding, but paragliding isn't art. The paragliding sail can be art but the act of doing so is not. To claim "something that isn't of a creation is not art", isn't discounting all art but upholding the very values, definitions and standard of what art is. Not everything is art. Putting dirt in a Jar isn't art, and that is effectively the same concept as putting water in a bag. Secondly, "By your definition no piece of art is art because all art is inspired." For 1. I didnt give you the definition before now. 2. Never did I bring up inspired art. 3. You put words in my mouth. 4. I just now gave you the definition of art and no where did I exclude inspiration. 5. The fact that you actually wrote that knowing there is no context for it being said is fucking stupid. Third, No he is not the first person to sail and catch a cloud, you'd be moronic to believe so. No, sailing to grab a cloud isn't his expression of doing so. There is literally no other way to get that high unless using a form of technology that is similar in practice or a hot air balloon. He simply made a choice on the easiest technology to obtain in order to reach that altitude. Fourth of all, "Beauty in the eye of the beholder" doesnt mean everything can be art, what it means is anyone can like any type of art regardless of style or technique. Surrealism is a form of art many people enjoy, some find it sloppy and talentless. Some people prefer realism and find beauty in art there, some people consider it copying without tracing. This is the thematical understanding of "in the eye of the beholder". Here's a little 4.5 for ya...May it be true that all art made will grab the attention and admiration of someone to behold it, and that this part of art is subjective is true. However, this does not mean all art is good art. Any creation one makes can be loved by anyone no matter the level of skill however that does not mean there is no objectivity to art, which there very much is. Techniques, lighting, framing, composition and the likes of which are all objective realities in art. These are things that can be pointed out and said "that is bad work". A stick figure, lazily drawn is not an art style, its bad drawing. A self portrait meant to convey realism, meanwhile is full of off measured proportions is objectivily bad realism. The only bit of this video that is art is the actual video itself, not whats done in the video but the actual video. The editing, framing, lighting, pacing, narration and sound design these things are all art. Grabbing a bag of fucking moisture out of the air is not. Self expression is only 3/4ths of art. The other 1/4 is skill, talent and knowledge in the arts. Something you do not have. I wish I can say your comment was deep and insightful, something that took deep contemplation before responding to, but it was none of those things. In was nothing. It was you making up false definitions and talking about shit you dont know anything about, but hey...at least I had fun. -An actual artist who specializes in surrealism, and realism, of human anatomy and sculpting and has made some money doing so(rarely sells)
This mixed with better moss arrangement to literally crawl on the insides of the window much like vines do with normal terrain along with some blue/green lightning even from the outside plus the "container" itself being moved somehow by a mechanism to change positions and give the clouds more life could have been simply amazing but i still love it even as raw as it is. Good job!
Zac! You are nailing it. I enjoy so much watching your videos. Why don't you have a 10M yet? :-( You are absolutely underrated. But I hope you get there soon. Your content is awesome.
As a child I always thought to somehow put a cloud in a box and keep it for display. It’s nice that a thought I had when I was small somehow come true.
I thought this was a ridiculous idea, and even more so to actually find a buyer for it, but man it actually looks awesome and the story to it is great, with video proof of it actually being a real cloud too. I definitely understand why the buyer was happy.
I think it’s pretty goofy that I majored in art (photography) just for the credits but kinda dipped my toes into it. It is truly subjective. I don’t think it would be hard to sell something like that if you get lucky and find a niche buyer. I know a couple who do immersive instillations with lights choreographed to some niche music. They’ve gotten 6 figure jobs with well known companies for it and I think they were on Forbes 30 under 30 at one point. I mean it looks very cool and all but when I sat there watching him work and asked “why?” he basically told me “it looks cool when you smoke weed”. So yea it is what you make of it I guess. The process to get it and the story behind your “art” is definitely gave it value. Also it’s a real cloud so I’d want one too lol.
A few years I climbed mount snowdon in Wales and there was a point near the top where you could have half you head in a cloud and the rest of your body out of it. You could barely see where the cloud started and ended but it was definitely there, it felt like being very and softly lightly rained on

You should've made a Cloud in a bottle so you can double jump.

From an art point of view this is far from bad. It is fairly conceptual but also has some legitimacy due to the back story. I have seen art with far less work done or originality sell for much more. You haven't ripped off the buyer and everyone is happy. It's actually a pretty decent piece of work!
i can see the happiness in buyer's eyes
The story and dedication is the art itself
11:14 "could rainwater count?" was my favorite quote
The water would still be there. Just replace the machine.
@@Sebaxtain they can tho, the only failure at that point was the cheap af humidifier.
Though, bags do eventually leak and form holes
Amazing video, well done! Can’t believe you sold it in painswick where it live! St marys church and the amazingly well kept trees is what have it away 🌳
0:45 Some of us just wait for the clouds to come to us...we call it "fog".
Fr😂
Well that ain’t worth nothing
should just keep doing this for fun and money but this was genuinely good to watch
5:27 What a majestic shaft 🤤 ah sorry I mean the long black pipe dangling from your waist where on the tip you mounted the...just... GREAT CAMERAWORK ALRIGHT?!
Josh is a top bloke - if I ever get the urge to paraglide I’ll shout him
Theres a buyer out there for anything and hes the perfect one for that piece the natural fog aspect helps his bug exhibition like a terrarium but with no maintenance required.

Good job!
I know it's difficult and it causes burnout , but I would love to see more videos posted cause I look forward every time u post
The bag alone on a stiff string asif it was making it float with just the bag sealed and little watter I think would of sold better
Can’t imagine the efforts u made for making this video, it deserves millions of views
This has so much potential. You could make a huge collection with clouds from every part of the world. Gotta catch them all! XD
That was honestly a genuinely cool art piece
Zac! You are nailing it. I enjoy so much watching your videos. Why don't you have a 10M yet? :-( You are absolutely underrated. But I hope you get there soon. Your content is awesome.
What did the clouds do after seeing this video?
They gave a thunderous applause.
Nah, they made it rain.
@galixio oof cloudnapping
This is literally what I thought and dreamed about as a child 🤣
Congratulations Josh! I wish you the partner and the newborn all the health and happiness in the world!
Unironically, the kind of thing that I would put in an art collection
I would buy this for 10k-,15k if you own this
As a child I always thought to somehow put a cloud in a box and keep it for display. It’s nice that a thought I had when I was small somehow come true.
To be honest, the end result is actually very beautiful, I actually quite like it.
What an amazing story Zac, I wonder how much you would've gotten if you sold it as an auction!
e
Honestly it’s a beautiful art piece! If I was a rich collector I would totally buy this.
Ok but NOW I want someone to get a larger bag for more cloud water to convert into 100% legitimate cloud.
Fr this cloud is worth way more after this video. Smart art collector. Bro is gonna sell it for atleast 10grand. W
i will consider this a art man, the amount of days u had to try to get to the cloud its the hard work put on it that makes the art valuable
Honestly a cool peice. I do wish u refined the end product more. But ngl I loved it. Another badger video from zac
badger lol, funny thing is, is i actually read it correctly the first time thru haha
I can’t even explain how happy these videos make me in such a shit time. Brilliant video as always
I thought this was a ridiculous idea, and even more so to actually find a buyer for it, but man it actually looks awesome and the story to it is great, with video proof of it actually being a real cloud too. I definitely understand why the buyer was happy.
1:17 congratulations josh!!!!
This is so cool!! I can’t help but wonder though, how long would it last?
That's the best part. Zac can charge a monthly fee to renew the cloud water.

Howd you get an Elton John Cameo?!?!
A few years I climbed mount snowdon in Wales and there was a point near the top where you could have half you head in a cloud and the rest of your body out of it. You could barely see where the cloud started and ended but it was definitely there, it felt like being very and softly lightly rained on
