I watched tutorial after tutorial, googling different search terms to find a color correction tutorial that: a. made sense; b. used the scopes; c. TAUGHT me how to use the scopes; and c. wasn't painfully boring to watch. You have one of the best color correction tutorials on the web for correcting within PP (if there's a better one I haven't found it). Thank you so much for such a helpful and concise video! You jumped my color skill forward by a huge leap with just this one video. THANK YOU!
Than you so much for leaving this awesome comment :) Really happy to hear that you found the tutorial useful and all the best on your venture into film making!
Wow, thank you so much for the amazing comment. Really humbling to hear you find the video so useful - it's really just things I picked up along the way myself :)
*AMAZING tutorial! I now understand how to use the Victorscope. Didn't know how Powerful this tool is until you showed us. Thank you again for making this video! I was so frustrated trying to get the correct white balance and skin tone, now I know how thanks to this video*
i have never enjoyed a singel tutorial in my life due to the usefulness and simplicity this video brings out. this should be a must watch for anyone out there doing any video work editing that wants to get better for any beginners.
The simplest and the best tutorial on color correction i've seen so far! Everything's so well explained, unlike many others that i have watched where they just play around with the controls, without properly explaining what's going on. Thank you so much for this.
In just over 2 years of filming and learning, nothing comes close to this tutorial. You really showed us how everything works and how it should be done for the most efficient time and results. Thank you so much man!
:D Thank you for the awesome feedback! I had to do a lot of reading up myself on this topic once because I wanted to make sure I 'get it' as much as I could - I still don't think I know everything about it, but some of the basics I feel quite comfortable with :)
You're very welcome. It is well deserved and really shows! I bypassed all the other videos available and came directly to your channel (having viewed it a few months ago I recalled how useful it was but couldn't remember your channel name - so it took me a while to find you, but I did!) If you're ever thinking of doing another of these, know that you will have an audience! I'd even be happy to watch your workflow (wouldn't even require commentary - just watching how you use the software would be enough) Thanks again Jay
The main thing that makes Your channel different from "all" the others is that where others tells you WHAT to do, you add in a little bit of WHY aswell. Again, thanx alot :) You made my day (again).
No worries at all, really great to hear you are enjoying my videos - there is so much to explain, I always have to try not to drag it on for too long XD
Nobody revealed the secrets of those amazing tools. I am a bit color blind so I always had low confidence about detecting some of saddle colors. (so, color correction! a nightmare for me) Now you showed us so clearly and now I have a tool which i can use to recover my limitations. Thank you, brother. I am grateful to you also because I couldn't find the masking tool in cs6. And now I know. You are a true brother. Thank you again. Great Tutorial.
No worries at all Bond :) I don't really consider them 'secrets', but they are some good pieces of information to know, especially if either your monitor isn't very accurate (like mine) or if you're having trouble seeing colour correctly (as a large amount of the population do). Glad to hear that you got something useful out of my tutorial :)
I just have to say I really enjoyed your tutorial! I have been looking for something like this for a long time - I am red/green colourblind (like 10% of males across the world) so, as you can imagine, colour correcting is damned near impossible for me to do effectively. These Premiere tools can help me to see exactly what is going on with the colours in my project without needing to rely solely on my eyes. Thanks again mate!
You are welcome Dan, glad to hear you found the tutorial helpful! I can only imagine how tricky it must be to colour correct if you're red/green colour blind - hopefully all the cool tools in Premiere Pro will make your life a little easier :)
I have been making videos for quite some time now, and I can truly say out loud, this has been THE MOST informative tutorial of them all Ive seen so far, my God this guy is gooooood! thanks a lot bud, you've earned another subscriber mate
Thank you SO much for this awesome comment :) Really appreciate it and it's humbling to hear that other people out there are finding my tutorials useful!
I have been using premiere pro for so long but never ventured into the vectorscope and waveform. You made it so easy to understand. Thank you. Love from India
Thanks so much for this! So many online tutorials do without explaining the vectorscope, the parade and the waveform. They are brilliant tools! I'm now officially a fan of yours. :D
Man your videos are so helpful. I have seen many boring tutorial videos but from your videos I learned and I enjoy watching them. You're simply awesome ;)
You are just absolutely amazing at this. I really lucked out finding your channel. This is multiple times better than paid training that I have taken!!👍👍👍
Best tutorial i found online.. i just started with editing videos and somehow i took color corection and color grading to be the same thing.. i never used those wave things it just looked like alien tech to me XD.. now its all clear and easy! I was doing my own short clip with you on the video and im amazed how well it looks now! Really good tutorial!
Surfaced Studio could you explain to me just one thing about white ballance did you drop the curves effect in again so you have 2x curves effect to fix the white balance? or you used the master to fix balance and colors in curves to fix colors? That is a bit confusing. cheers
This is the best ever video I have seen on color correction!! That's so marvelous. . Just love the way you explain so that can understand crystal clear.. Keep the good work brother.. Love from India ❤️
I love this tutorial. It shows the math of working with colors and thats really helpful because actually I don't trust the monitors as well as my own eyes. Working with the scopes definitely gives us the exact color it supposed to be and not just using our instinct. Thanks a lot!
Thank you, you have demystified the Lumetri scopes - I immediately put your techniques to work on clips that I was having great difficulty color correcting. Now the balance and color tones are perfect. I appreciate your work ~ Cheers!
Thank you for the awesome feedback Carl! Really happy to hear that you found the video helpful. Scopes used to be a mystery to me for a long time, but I'm really glad I figured them out eventually - they're a really, really useful tool to have :D
I use scopes daily for skin tones, broadcast safe etc but I've never seen the 'hue angle' tip before, especially great tip for shifting skin tones. Excellent video. Thank you.
GREAT DETAILED TUTORIAL I think you should be a teacher lol, you provide so much information throughout your work. You got you a new subscriber keep up the good work
k, your tutorial is so great that I don't have anxiety about different monitors displaying different colours anymore. That shit honestly would keep me awake sometimes. Thankyou thankyou
Great tutorial, will surely make my editing more efficient! One note: you corrected the whitebalance in the highlights (as the shirt mainly was bright) but to me there was a noticeable amount of magenta left, especially in the shadows! This also makes sense when we consider the way you adjusted rgb values by moving only the top handles of the corresponding curves. If the magenta tint was consistent over all luminance ranges, we should be able to get rid of this issue by moving the whole curve including the mids and shadows and create a new line, which is more or less parallel to the original one.
Yes you are correct :) You can also use secondary colour correction (limit the effect of the correction to certain areas) to make sure you only affect the pieces of the footage you really want to affect
Thumbs up! One of the best basic explanation of using the scopes out there. I understand that using curves and 3way color corrector are available in pre lumetri versions of Premiere, I would have like to have seen you use the lumetri color panel to accomplish the same things. Having said that, I am sure your viewers owning more recent version are quite capable of doing that on their own with a little experimentation and common sense...
Yeah, I do think that a lot of my viewers are likely more competent than me :) Also, while I do appreciate Lumetri Color trying to combine everything in one panel, I do find it a little less usable than the individual effects - especially the Curves in Lumetry Color are rather clunky to use. But that's just my opinion :)
This-video-is-freaking-awesome! Looking forward for the color grading tutorial! I really want to learn how to use properly the three way color corrector, I undestand how it works but I can't fully handle it. This is very helpful and you explain it really well, thank you very much Tobias!
Im really bad at these kind of technic stuff but your video is so easy to understand. I love it! already subscribed and keep it up like that way, looking forward to more videos from you!
Always helpful stuff. I had been using a plugin for my Premiere Pro and went back to the simple way of color correcting. Thanks for reinforcing the vectorscope and showing the hue angle. Great tips, once again.
Sir: Thank you for putting this together. Simple and clear and easy to understand, fantastic job and so much useful information. I’ll have to watch it a few times to let it all sink in. Absolutely brilliant and helpful. Thank you very much
Haha, it just so happens that I've been looking up a number of colour correction and colour grading tutorials, and now I find a really good one in my subscriptions box from you! What a coincidence! :D thanks so much Tobias for making this video!!!!
man, everytime when I'm learning something, I watch a bunch of videos and then watch yours and I'm like "why didn't I watch this guy first?" from now on, I'm your tutorial slave, I will look to your channel even if I need to learn how to cut my parrot's nails :) again, thank you and I'm clicking all the ad's on your videos! please keep going
Thank you so much!! I had trouble with my white balance because i did not set it correctly during my video shoot. This tutorial is simple n easy to understand.
I've got one in the works. Technically it's exactly the same in terms of scopes / monitors, but the Lumetri Color panel makes the correction / grading a lot easier :)
I watched tutorial after tutorial, googling different search terms to find a color correction tutorial that:
a. made sense;
b. used the scopes;
c. TAUGHT me how to use the scopes; and

I think you are one of few who actually understand what you are explaining. Thank you so much for teaching me - genuinely :)
:D Thank you for the awesome feedback! I had to do a lot of reading up myself on this topic once because I wanted to make sure I 'get it' as much as I could - I still don't think I know everything about it, but some of the basics I feel quite comfortable with :)

Aaw, thanks man :D
i understand completely. Keep up the good work.
Glad to hear!
Nobody revealed the secrets of those amazing tools. I am a bit color blind so I always had low confidence about detecting some of saddle colors. (so, color correction! a nightmare for me)
Now you showed us so clearly and now I have a tool which i can use to recover my limitations. Thank you, brother. I am grateful to you also because I couldn't find the masking tool in cs6. And now I know. You are a true brother. Thank you again. Great Tutorial.

Thank you so much for the awesome comment :) Really happy to hear you enjoyed the tutorial!
Good job. I actually learned a lot on this video than watching dozens of other videos elsewhere. 👍👏
Thank you for the comment - makes me happy :D
I love this tutorial. It shows the math of working with colors and thats really helpful because actually I don't trust the monitors as well as my own eyes. Working with the scopes definitely gives us the exact color it supposed to be and not just using our instinct. Thanks a lot!
