Darren, your performance was very sensitive. The lyrics are hauntingly beautiful. Your physical beauty is stunning and your inner self is shown to be beautiful also. You have an awesome, unique voice. Please keep blessing the world with your talent, no matter what. This song, with you singing it, is healing, and this is what people hurting in our world need. As for your father, I will pray that he wakes up. Love never fails. I Corinthians 13.
That was incredible. Excellent control full of pure emotion what a great song man. I would buy in a second. I know your father had great success but he is missing out my friend. If anything he should be taking advantage of you and cashing in. Only kidding. Darren your the real deal.
I love the soft and tender vocal in the beginning and sweet guitar behind it. Very original, a cross between folk and a passionate story teller to be sure. Has a style rich unto his own. God bless
To each his own. Remember Daryl is a self-made artist. He put in a lot of hard work to be where he is. He's going to be leary of people including his own. Daryl knows.
I agree. Daryl is going to be 73 this year. It'll be a shame if he goes to his grave without making an effort to reconcile with his son. Unfortunately, I think he only cares for himself. Darren seems like a good soul.
@@mikestevenson576 That's an opinion. how's I took it. None of us know what went down between the two. I stand by my statement. That is, Daryl is an artist. A fine one at that!
@@gerardinecizmar I agree with Darren appears to be a good soul. Who knows what went down. Daryl did make an effort to reconcile. He apparently has high standards.
Loved Hall and Oats since I was a young boy . I remember when I was 10 rushing to buy the H2O cassette and had all their music which I played in my little tape recorder over n over pretending to be them . When I read how Darryl Hall not only abandoned his only child but treated him like dirt even saying to a reporter his son is an asshole , I lost all respect in him . I will always love the music but he really dissapointed me especially because my dad too never cared about me or really had much at all to do with me . I can count on one hand how many times my dad called or picked me up after my parents divorce at age 3 until my dad's death when I was 19.
His father is a narcissistic ass. Should have taken responsibility. His own father was absent but that is an example he should have been man enough not to repeat. Good luck Darren. That pain is sure going to be yours forever. You are better than him, by far. It's the drive, maybe your fathers demons were fiercer. You have chops.
The wrongs of the generation before should not be inflicted on the generation after. But Darren seems to have made a name for himself all on his own without the help of his father. Fair play to him.
For argument's sake, let's say he's every bit as talented as Daryl. Talent doesn't always translate to commercial success ("make it big" as you put it), and Daryl was one of the most successful musicians of all time in that regard. It's almost like asking why the children of lottery winners don't also win the lottery.
It makes me sad that his dad has had a whole show than he could be part of and where they really could have bonded through music. Darryl said his son had a sense of entitlement and he was trying to show him what a work ethic means to start from the bottom and earn your way up. Darren said his father always treated him like an outsider and kept a cold distance. I'm sure there's truth on both sides, but Darryl needs to put forth an effort. His son didn't ask to be here and, even though he's grown, whatever his faults that may have stemmed from neglect, Darryl is the parent. They need to fix this.
Frankly, it’s really put me off Daryl Hall. Tonight I was just remembering my student days with my best friend Tía coming in from New York carrying the latest LPs: Hall & Oates, & Paul Simon Still Crazy. That’s a black mark Daryl.

I agree with you, Fred. He can play the guitar, but his singing is non-existent. Daryl had an 8 octive range, in his younger years and pretty much can sing anyone under the table, today. Daryl's voice is incredible. I do hope this guy, does get some fame, as he seems to want it and that desire will surely help him. Good luck Darren.
songbyrdsings1 --You don't know Daryl Hall. He started out at zero and made a fabulous carreer. He has an incredible singing voice and he is talented musically, as he can play about any instrument. Daryl started out playing parties and shows while at Temple University. No one handed his career. He worked hard. He has an 8 votive voice, which is crystal clear. Daryl Hall has never stopped singing. He and John Oates were known in the 70s and 80s, as the hardest working band in music. So don't cut Daryl short. The only truly innocent person in that situation was Darren, because I can't understand why Sara Allen stayed with Daryl Hall after he fathered a child with someone else. I think Daryl Hall's appearance on the Howard Stern show revealed some of his true colors and unattractive qualities, which lends credence to him being a selfish, ego-driven person and non-existent father. If Andrea Zabloski wasn't at that concert that night, it may very well have been another young lady he chose for a romp, without protection.
