    Been living with a complete tear for months and will be scheduling surgery very soon. Still rehabbing from a proximal hamstring tear - same Doc will to the cuff repair. I'll be so full of metal after this one! I'll accept whatever post surgery pain there is because waking up in pain from simply rolling over in my sleep is just crazy and nothing from aspirin to naprosyn will take the pain away. This video is top notch. Thank you Dr. Janssen.

    I am happy to be able to play catch again with my son, my surgeon is awesome but it still hurts to the point of very little sleep at night, surgery is surgery whether it's same day procedure or not, physical therapy is crucial but expect to be in a lot of pain....The down size is if you need pain medication it's a challenge even though you just had surgery and also getting back to work, stay young and try to avoid surgery, try P/T first.....The pain is truly bad if it's your primary arm.

    I just had this done. The pain has been pretty awful. However this is an injury not an illness and not life threatening. At 73 years old I am very fortunate that the surgeon agreed to do it. He explained why it would not normally be done at my age but agreed that I was a level of fitness that justified going ahead, watching what was done I m surprised it was not even more painful. Now we just need to get through the recovery stage.

    Wow this is an awesome video. I thank you and your patient. I had this surgery two weeks ago. It's hard to understand what exactly the surgeon did. This really helped. My surgery went well and with the help of my physical therapist I have full range motion already. I would highly recommend starting physical therapy a few days after surgery. It helps to avoid the pain from stiffness and my recovery is going extremely well.

    Joseph was this surgery video you? I am having joint pain in my shoulder after having cervical fusion done and I believe I have arthritis in the joint. I have heard of Dr. Janssen actually met him and I am wondering if he is the person to see for my shoulder pain. My original surgeon refuses to see me and check why I am having so much pain in my neck and I think it is stemming from the cervical fusion into my shoulder. I had no rehabilitation.

    I just undergone this surgery 11 days ago, here in Switzerland. The tendon of supraspinatus was torn importantly (75%)
    (I'am 63 years old and I like working outdoors and I'd like keep doing it).
    It all worked out for the best. Two days of hospitalization and then straight to home. The pains, from day one, taking account of the anchors implanted in the humerus and so on, were acceptable. At home, a couple of painkillers per day (simple acetaminophen) were adequate. After the tenth day I stopped even taking it. Speaking of pain, I think I'm lucky !
    The most annoying thing is having to wear for three weeks the brace, day and night.
    I can hardly sleep at night, but I am conscious of the importance of the first 3 weeks. As correctly said in a post just below still about 3 months of therapy (at first passive, then semi-active and then active). At that point I should be able to resume a soft activity. A couple of months afterwards, I should be at least 90-95%. The 100 % will come from the sixth month forward.

    I suffer from ptsd, well the night I came from hospital I had nightmares and I pushed my arms to defend myself, and I think I tore something. Can it be possible to tear the repair with a bad movement , my arm was bounded but the force used was unreal and the pain has been the same since the surgery occur. Before the nightmare I had no pain. Please respond. I have this done at southern bone in Alabama Farris did it

    how long will the individual be down for after this

    • @andresa1963
      @andresa1963 8 лет назад

      +James Liebherr .... meaning? Down from having the arm moving as normal or doing normal activity? If everything goes up to part and the individual follows the doctor's instructions to the "T"... then normally it should take about 6 months of rehab. there is a brace that it must be wear for about 2 weeks and this is key point... the rest is just a proper shoulder physical therapy.

      6 month recovery meaning you can’t work for 6 months?
      I have a 70% tare that happen 3 years ago and just found out about 2 weeks ago
      Its there a lot of pain recovering from surgery?

      I had to take 3 months off due to the physical nature of my job, but with the proper rehab I was able to return full duty at that time. I would say I didn't feel "normal" for 6-12 months following, but that's because I had quite a bit of damage previously. I had minimal pain following after using a nerve block. I did not need narcotics following but used them for the first 4 days just because I was fearful of not using them. Overall, easy recovery for me, and I felt a ton better after I had it done.
