Maybe little selfish, but I’d love to know about their own listening. What about a run through of each member’s record collection (CD/download… however they listen!) as an idea? Or if one band member is a very prolific collector maybe concentrate on one big collection!

This might suit the newer fans most (but hopefully everyone would enjoy): a comprehensive tour of the studio and Racket premises, please. I would particularly like to see 'behind the scenes' eg your office, Lucy, where people are drafted in to help with sending magazines etc. We've seen little bits in previous MM and elsewhere but the whole kit and caboodle would be amazing. Thank you!

Hiya all at Marillion central! Great start to the New year hearing the band are back in the studio. As for future monthlies, I really enjoyed seeing Steve H exploring the 'wardrobe' of past gigs and it gave us a chance to see a little more of Marillion's HQ so Studio/green room tours, old props etc would make good episodes too!

I really do enjoy the "ask the band random questions" idea because it's often great insights into how they think and what they're about. Obviously this year any studio clips would be welcome, especially glimpses into the new album. And maybe a vlog about the cruise especially for those of us who aren't doing it.

I know you said nothing in the studio, and I'm not asking for new music, but I do like an interesting Marillion cover. Get all the band in the studio and play them a track then give them just 1 hour to produce a their cover version of it...I'm not sure it's actually going to be possible for Marillion to do anything in the studio in only an hour, but it'd be really interesting to watch it "as live"

Thank you Lucy and Marillion for sharing! There is a maxim that states: “a mix is never finished but abandoned”. It most certainly applies to my own humble music, and I’d love to get them behind a mixing desk muting tracks and soloing sections to discuss how a song got made and what they are most proud of and what they wished they would change.
p.s. someone told me my guitar solo on my latest song sounds like something Steve Rothery would play. Best. Compliment. Ever! :) Thank you Steve for being such an inspiration. :)

I’d love to get a glimpse of Marillion in a band rehearsal, how they approach the live arrangements. Is it easy to find out which songs work in a live context or is it a question of trial and error? How are the light shows and the video projections designed - is this steered by the band, how do they decide which video artists to ask and so on. Perhaps that would be an entire own video: how the production for a new show starts and which stages it goes through…

A few random ideas for content: 1) A more in-depth tour of the Racket Club; we see bits and pieces but it would be good to get a proper look 2) Perhaps talk about old venues you've played in the past and revisit any local ones, discussing any memories of the locations and what's there now. 3) A day in the life of.. concentrate on one band member and follow them around for the day... 4) Interview with editor of concert videos... what's their process etc. 5) Interview with the people who design the graphics that appear on the back-wall 6) Concerts that went wrong... and why... how to deal with faulty equipment on-the-fly. Tales from the road. 7) Let's see inside those tour buses - talk to the people who provide them... the service they provide etc.

I'd love to hear members of the band try and remember how they perform material differently over the years. How did having computers and samplers on stage change Mark's job and was it liberating or frustrating to have to retool the repertoire? When H retired the MIDI gloves did parts migrate to other band members or just get forgotten? And coming right up to date, with Luis on stage, sometimes H had to forego his piano. How did that impact what material could be played? How would the band members react to being told they had to go on stage tonight with only the same equipment they used in 1989?

A feature that highlights some of the different vinyl, CD, posters and memorabilia that is rare, unique or special so we can all geek out on the Marillion library of "stuff". 😲
Also as an aspiring guitar player, short clips on how to play licks or songs on guitar or keys from the band would be so much fine. Many artists are creating these videos and they seem to get lots of views. Would love to learn from the source as opposed to another hobbiest who may or may not get it right. 🎸

Personally, the live recording of Neverland with the gathering of fans sitting around was emblematic of Marillions sheer class both musically and personal. In these terrible days of open genocide, a similar recording of the brilliant " GAZA" with fans would be absolutely perfect. Hi Lucy, I think we got some great content over the year but I was thinking back to one of the times you went LIVE on Facebook and showed some of what it's like day to day. With the success of the Easter T-Shirt Mark mentioned that he was thinking of other designs looking back on the albums. Perhaps it would be good to see how he looks at designing it getting approval etc. and see the design sent off for production and then the final product or products being reviewed? Marillion has had some brilliant merchandise over the last few years and it would be great to see the creative minds working it all out.

Being a technical type, would love a run through of the bands concert sound setup up including FOH and monitors. Marillion are rare in still using, I believe, an analogue FOH console (thumbs up from me) and I'd love to hear more about that. Is it Phil doing FOH now, I know Ian Bond has been in charge at times too?
There's loads of behind the scenes vids on this very subject, but none (yet) for Marillion?
Of course, needs to be filmed at a gig, so appreciate it might be a while!
I think it would be really interesting for fans who don't know how live sound works, seeing as it's the method by which every fan has ever heard the band live 😀 😉

    Thanks so much for this!
I would love to know if any of the band members have any memories of when they played in my home state of Minnesota in the 80's. I know they headlined with Fish at First Avenue in 1987. Did they take any photos with the famous First Avenue "Star Walls"?
Also do they have any memories of the shows they played in St.Paul, MN opening for Rush?
And perhaps even the show on the Seasons End tour in 1990 at the Mirage club?
Maybe a new segment or 1 special episode could be about Marillion touring memories? perhaps even include photos or video if possible?..I'd love to hear any memories from the Ronnie Scott Jazz Club that H and Rothers did with Dream Theater in 1995.

Some ideas (factoring in that the band won’t be super accessible due to writing and recording):
    - tour of Racket that includes time spent on the bits and bobs around like the award on the table or the poster on the wall and stories about said items.
    - similar to the above but the bits of merch that are around that might be rare or one of a kind
    - collectors corner where Marko comes in to show off some items from the past from his expansive collection
    - deep dive in the attic of old stage gear and wardrobe and such with stories from those who were there
    - what goes into booking a tour or the marketing plan for an album

I'd love to see some of Steve Rothery's solos and guitar parts tabbed and played/demonstrated by him. I mean, I've got similar equipment to Steve, I even know where some of the notes go, but I still sound like a frekkin' chartered surveyor (if you know what I mean) ;) . He has such a distinctive sound and style - in all seriousness it's not something I'd even attempt to replicate (only a fool would) but I'd love to see 'it' up close. The Civic in Wolves is great, but I've never been able to get THAT close... Much love.

I have a general idea as a possible topic for Marillion Monthly “celebrity fans???” .. I ask prompted by 2 things recently - listening to an audible book travel book by Dom Jolly where he says at one point something like “time to put in my earbuds and listen to Marillion - he then writes a bit about why he is a fan” (I did not see that line coming) and also from watching Slow Horses where we know Will Smith (the UK comedian and screen writer - not the violent Oscar winner) mentions a Derek Rothery character and from knowledge of seeing his show at the Edinburgh festival about being a Marillion fan we know he is a fan.
    Are there other celebrity fans?

I was working at an engineering company and a fellow engineer came up to me and said he and another colleague were putting on a gig in Berkhamsted for a really “fabulous” band called Silmarillion. I was a fool and didn’t go. Real shame as Steven Wilson apparently went there that night.

Berkhamsted Civic Centre was the first gig under the name Marillion. It did happen March 1st 1980. Around 60 people attended including a 12 year old Steven Wilson. I'm curious to know who our fellow engineer was that has put up their first gig in this lineup.

I would love to hear more amazing guitar solos on the new album. A keyboard solo would also be really cool.

Could you do a few videos that show how the crew set up for gigs - maybe one on the sound is set up, another on the lighting etc etc

    Hi Lucy,
How's about showing us around Racket Records, your stock and shipping, chat with the busy folks behind the scenes, etc....?
Another thing that I would love you to discuss with the band and/or Mark and team is any live albums that you are thinking about releasing on vinyl. Maybe we could have a viewers poll and get us folks to vote from a selection of feasible choices??

Having more in death visits in equipment would be very interesting. Also I'd like to know more if there is any new music that inspires them or they find interesting. New music and new bands as well, since we all know that more "mature" bands release new music as well:)

I'd love to see the band deconstruct a song or two and really go into the individual parts. Play isolated tracks so we can hear just they keys, just the sound effects, just the drums, etc. and discuss why the song was constructed in that way. I am not musical in any way, so I'd love to get some insight into how the band decides on chords that evoke an emotion or how a melody is mated to the instrumentation. It might help me understand why I can be so moved by your music.

I understand the secret about Marillion music is that it is being composed through jamming sessions. I would be very interested to know more about how these sessions are organised - is that is the proper word - if not witnessing part of one of these sessions through this channel, if that is not a big ask. Thanks!
