So I have still got a iPad 2nd Generation and I found a use for mine, it my glorified iPod which I solely use at home connected to the power and play though my old Sony Hifi System. It works great and I still connect it to my 2011 iMac to update my playlists. I bought a bracket so I could mount it on the wall and whilst it’s playing music it displays my photos like a digital photo frame. Hope that gives you some ideas.
I still use my iPad 3. Somewhat useable but struggling 😅. What tech companies did with the yearly software upgrades making 2-3-year-old devices feel obsolete is getting ridiculous. Some users just like to watch RUclips, answer emails, browse the web. Your office chair is so cool!
Perfect example of how the iPad *hasn't* really evolved. Sure new ones are faster (too fast even), and design has changed a bit .. but usefulness hasn't gone up at all. If you bought an iPad in 2012 you likely bought it for watching RUclips, Netflix and taking some notes - and you buy an iPad today for the same reasons. All this laptop-like power is trapped in iPadOS.
no lol now you can use ipads to edit, draw, make movies and animations, filming, design architecture, play intense games, education, and TONS TONS more (with TONS of quality of life improvements)
Congrats on the office chair! I’m wondering, are you planning on upgrading your iPad? I have a 6th Gen iPad with Apple Pencil and it is showing its age as well. I’ve been doing more animation and 3D work but my iPad is just reduced to a media machine. I’m planning on upgrading to the M4 iPad Pro, but I will look in-store first to see if I will like or dislike the nano glass texture. I heard about the OS update next month so I’m really looking forward to that! The only thing I dislike is how expensive it is, but I’m seeing this as future proofing my iPad so it can last a long time before I even need to think about upgrading my iPad. I may upgrade in the next 6 years if I decide on a new iPad. It will become my next daily machine alongside my Windows laptop for 3D work, animation and coding.
I bought an iPad 4th-gen to play iOS games that did not get updated to 64-bit (iPad 5th-gen and above), such as Alphabetic and the geoDefense games. One in Grade A condition on eBay cost me £30 delivered.
You can get a new battery for it!!!! Probably will cost $29 for the battery, and $40-$50 to have it put in. I still have a 2013 iPad Air that looks new, and works great. The only problem is, the battery only lasts about 3-4 hours, so I´m thinking of having a new battery put in it. I saw my same iPad Air on a refurbished website for 157€. :)
I still own the 2nd generation iPad Pro. Currently typing this comment on a 4th generation iPad Pro 2020. I’m going to sell both a year or 2 from now to buy the M4. THERE’S NO JUSTIFICATION to buy now.
I had a iPad 3rd gen till it broke then I got the iPad Air 2 kept it for 6 years I passed it down to a grandchild now I have a 2016 iPad Pro to be honest I don’t plan to buy another one I plan a laptop that’s flipable touchscreen
I have a 10th gen Amazon fire tablet I have it for about 5 years now haven't upgraded it yet because about a year ago I got a hp gaming laptop and it works very well and I beleive they make touch screen 2 in 1 laptop hp does
Who uses an iPad with only Apple apps in the past decade? Mine is full of junk etc. unless you did factory but can’t install older os supported over it bc I tried with mine many times. States no longer supported os after I factory so I had to restore from backup.
There is an Apple Store in Ohio called the company fixes old Apple equipment when corporate Apple won and they might didn’t even know how to load new apps onto it. I have the phone number I can look it up for you and send it to you, but I don’t have my iPhone next to me right now, but there is a company in Ohio that sells Apple stuff that specializes in fixing things like that.
unfortunately it’s very true, the iPad is very outdated. However you can definitely still use it for several small tasks such as the iBooks app you mentioned.
To save you time, No they did not accept it and she made it her reading Ipad ....youre welcome
Thanks
Should've seen your comment earlier 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

You can replace the battery in it by a third party repair shop so you can have more battery life

iPad 3 is a fat boy. The thickest iPad ever made.
