Rai was a pure art. He is well respected by football experts and people who really know football. It also impresses me the fact that he destroyed Cruyff's Barca twice ! ! (1992 World & 1995 Europe).
Yes very true , people who understand football definitely have a high opinion of RAI , one of the true greats of Brazil and one of the best players of the 90s
Had big shoes to fill having such a legendary big brother Brazilian legend... but rai was also especially gifted and mabe his brother with his no training and smoking drinking wouldn't have been as successful in the 90s early 2000s
oooooh yeah. I remember when Leonardo was also at PSG and they ripped us to pieces. A bit embarrassing to be dropped from the '94 WC Squad half way through the tournament when you're the captain -but it was always about his lack of pace not quality.
Tu as raison.
Raí o terror do Morumbi ! Ganhou tudo !
A graceful, elegant and iconic 1990s footballer. I remember him very fondly from my childhood. But I also appreciate what he did outside of football with his foundation and he once made an appearance in my most favourite Brazilian telenovela (Family Ties, "Laços de Familia" in Portuguese) alongside an actress I liked immensely (Julia Feldens was her name).
Excellent video once again! PS: you once uploaded a video of a defender ive been looking and i cant find it anymore, i think je was a italian or brazilian left footed defender if its on your channel can you tell me wich one is it cause i cant find it ahah keep up the great work!!!
Whatever has happened to these elegant South American playmakers? It's like after Redondo, Rai and Valderama they seem to have stopped producing these types of players.
I think it was around 1994 when Brazil decided to go "modern" and opt more often for disciplined, hard-working but technically proficient midfielders. You can see it in that year's world cup when they dropped Rai for the knock out stages and went with a much less dynamic midfield but one that wasn't likely to get run over by more physical European teams. In the end it worked and they won the tournament but it was far from a memorable team.
Sadly, nowadays many teams share similar game tactics and go after certain players that fit into that narrow category. I believe Vidal mentioned about this by saying modern football is significantly focused on strength and speed. it's like watching American football.
Van der sar in goal ,Rai & Fernando Redondo would be in my 90s team midfield along with Hagi & Sammer , Baresi, Koeman, Rijkaard & Thuram my defence & Van Basten & Romario up front …..Djalminha, Gullit, Papin, Maldini, Barthez subs.
Zlatan will not remember all the ones who came before him okocha ronaldinho Rai why ? Because all are legends he was still in his fathers balls playin pool...
Craque.

One of the three teams that never played Serie B in Brazil....
Who remember the little brother to Socrates, Rai? :)
It's sad when players didn't get the recognition they deserved. If they played now, they would be renowned superstars.
Please make a maxi Arnold compilation
Yes.. I know.. 1994 Brasil world Cup winning player.

1:34 1992 Intercontinental Cup Final, awesome freekick and Sao Paulo won the match VS Barcelona.
Raí and "Sócrates the Doctor"are legends 🇧🇷🤘🏼
Incredible that absolute beasts played in Psg like Ronaldinho, Rai and Okocha

Rai was from Baggio, Hagi, Stoijkovic, Savicevic, Sammer, Bergkamp, Zola, Stoichkov, Laudrup, Romario, Hassler era , some great players
Great generation. I think that Paulo Futre was the biggest talent among all of them, but he fell off after he left Porto.

@@piccupaul very well said. You know your football. Football evolved in the mid 90s; the emphasis of tactics, strength and speed became the norm.
