Great pack. Cheap and light. And nice heated pillow. Hopefully that bottle never breaks in the middle of the night! I was first skeptical about the headlamp then I realize you probably are going to do a lot of night walks. Any particular thought behind bringing a MP3 player versus just using your phone (battery saving, better waterproofing maybe)? Or because it's just more practical? Time to watch your Pieterpad video now :)
Haha thanks, nice to have another 'ultralighter' comment on my stuff! A friend yesterday thought the same, but I actually don't sleep on a 'full' pee bottle. Depending on the situation, I empty it outside directly after use (have long arms). The headlamp: I did not do much night walking, but I like to sleep wearing it. Easy to find stuff, and it gives a quick sight advantage over potential intruders. I only used the mp3 player one time I think on this trip. But indeed it's for saving battery and memory on my phone, and more practical. This gear worked great on the trip but always looking to be more efficient! 😎 Next time I would add another clean pair of socks, worth the comfort for almost no weight.
@@CaptainCamp Wet socks sure suck! By the way I am aware 50km every day for 10 days is insanely difficult but on top of that it looks like you got a pretty harsh weather. Rain and heat. Do you think you could have pushed further if you had taken an umbrella? Especially since you don't use hiking poles. After watching the video I was wondering if it could have make a difference (at least mentally). What do you think?
The weather was actually decent. I don't like heat, and the hottest day was only 23 °C. Right now we have a little heat wave of 33 °C days! I see the benefits of an umbrella (rain + sun) but don't find it 'essential' enough, and it's often windy here. What really could have made the difference for me (10-days challenge) was more training! 😄
Hey Koning, dankjewel! 😎 Het Pieterpad was supermooi en ging over het algemeen goed. De video komt over ongeveer 10 dagen pas, maar de afloop van m'n hike heb ik al verklapt op instagram: captaincamp1
Love it great setup!
Thanks man! 😎
