Crossing the Tatra Mountain Peaks | part 4 remake
The Tatra mountains are beautiful but I gotta go. I've seen enough and hop on a train to Bratislava. I do not recommend doing this! Truly iconic way to end this adventure and ride off into the sunset. The only thing still missing is... a Captain Spin.

Peaks of the Balkans with 2 Captains
Просмотров 29021 день назад
In October 2024, two of the Captains started the hike "Peaks of the Balkans". It's a 10-day hiking route through the borderlands of Albania, Kosovo and Montenegro. These mountains are called the "Accursed Mountains", and the Captains face challenges early on. Will the Triple Crown (climbing the highest peak of each country) still be within the possibilities?

What goes up, must come down. So far it was an iconic traverse of the Solisko Ridge but dark clouds are approaching. I have get off this damn mountain at all costs before the thunderclaps arrive. Fatigue hits me and dropping the backpack several times is super necessary. Everything gets smashed!

I take my chance at a conquest of the Tatra peaks! Traversing the Solisko ridge with thunderclaps nearby, is plain crazy. Adrenaline starts pumping and I'm ready for whatever. Definitely the most exciting thing I've ever done. This is it! Yeah boy!

I have one week to cross the steep Tatra mountains. At home I have been working on a custom route for a while. It's time to turn my vision into reality. Will I be strong enough to conquer these ridiculously steep mountain peaks?
Exciting Samaria Gorge hike on Crete 🇬🇷
Просмотров 237Год назад
After climbing through the highest mountains on Crete, my girlfriend was not done yet. On May 30th we did the Samaria Gorge hike which is 16 km. We went to the top by bus and then hiked down to the Mediterranean Sea. This is a good and popular trail but mostly downhill so quite hard on the knees and feet. This was beautiful!

I review some of my craziest adventures of 2022. This year I went abroad again looking for some action. My extreme thru-hike of the Pyrenees was the number one craziest thing I have ever done. This was the year of completing things for me. Very stoked about this yearly compilation. Thanks for watching! Bye!!!
Hiking Gear for the Pyrenees HRP

Last summer I hiked the entire HRP from coast to coast. After finishing in Banyuls I filmed all my gear. Very happy with my baseweight of 5.5 kg or 12 lbs (without camera gear). Over the course of this 35-day thru-hike, a lot of items got completely destroyed or lost. Some things like shoes, socks and trekking poles, will only last 1 hike of this caliber. The Pyrenees are dangerous so be prepar...

The Haute Route (High Route) of the Pyrenees traverses the entire mountain range between France and Spain. Having started July 20th at the Atlantic Ocean, I'm still on my schedule of reaching the Mediterranean Sea within 35 days. My girlfriend will be waiting at the finish line so I want to be on time. While I can see the Sea in the distance, these final days are not to be taken lightly.

Wat tof om beelden te treffen van een thru hiker op het pieterpad😊. Ik wil het pad ook gaan lopen, alleen iets minder dan 50 km per dag😮😅. Hoe heb je het wildkamperen aangepakt? Van te voren gepland? Of zomaar ergens neer ploffen😅
@@saskiajanssen7225 Gaaf plan!
Whoa 😳 that was extreme

Make sure to test this stove on storm level disaster, let's see how this stove work properly or not.
Hehehe, I will wait for a storm like that 😎👍
I love your comment about being tall! I’m 1.92 metres and almost no tents fit me, and if they do it’s only just. Bivvies work great for me as well, as do tarps but I have to use a ridiculously large one!
Thank you! Yes, hard to find a tent that ticks all the boxes 😎👍
Ultra Real-World Testing+! Have the Same Stove but NOT Those Conditions! I leave the 4-plex pot stand on the stove, no need to remove it, Fold & Roll into cotton camp-cloth, fits into TI Cup-Pot with Extra room for lighters & condiments, works anywhere & for everything I need it for. -Thanks for doing this test so we don't have to-
Thank you! Yes I also like the 4-plex pot stand 😎👍
Dank you! Seriously... A paraffin/mineral oil waxed sheet is my current experimentation. When a person gets out of Bivvy to pee, indie rain gears... Wets inside of bed! A Person must have "something", 3 x 3, Tarp, or something. That Tyvek stuff is like, more research required. What if a person was "wearing" one of those Tyvek Haz-Mat Suits? All kind of puffy layering... Sherpa?
Sounds cool! 😎👍
A decathlon poncho saved my ass in the mountains during heavy rain and wind, it's the best, covers everything including the backpack and fast to wear
I believe you. It also saved my ass in the Pyrenees 😎👍
haha, the train is very dangerous.. the most dangerous thing in this whole series :))
Hehehe thank you 😎👍 too bad part 4 was taken down
dude, please watch your back.. and regarding the illegal stuff, I don't get why people are pissed off, it's god's nature, everybody owns it as long as they respect it and don't trash it.. so stfu
Thank you! 😎👍
you're like the dude
Do you ever have issues getting in and out during heavy rain while keeping your sleeping pad and bag/quilt dry?
Yes, light rain is okay but heavy rain and wind will usually mean a bad night. A poncho-tarp above the hole, gives less protection than a tent. The hole can be closed but results in more condensation
Lol full of arabs, europe is dead.
Why not a bivvy tent with bivvy bag.

I still use my bivy for mountaineering approaches but condensation is a big problem I'm still trying to solve. I always have this issue with my bivy bag versus tent
I agree 😎👍

Hey great video! I am wondering, there is a tarp called Rab Siltarp 2 which is big enough for two people and they managed to cut the weight to weigh 400g. Other than the added weight of the tent pegs and the time to set it up, I am trying to figure out if there is a good reason for me to pick a 400g Snugpak bivvy instead? Edit: I also got some more questions if OK with you. Do you put the airpad inside the bivvy or underneath it? Do you reckon it could work well to use two systems: bivvy in combination with a tarp to trap heat in the mountains or is that overkill? Also, do you put a groundsheet like tyvek or closed cell foam under it to protect the air mattress and bivvy?
Way back in the 70s, they didn't have these fancy bivvies, all we had was no more than sleeping bag linners , and tarps, so when power hiking (like doing a 3 day hike in 1) we'd carry no more than a tarp an a linner, if it was dry we'd sleep on top of the tarp, if it rained under, life was so much simpler then!
Love that, real adventure 😎👍
I've always been interested in a Bivvy bag. I only camp in the local Woods about ten mins from my place, so weight isn't an issue. It just seems like a cool experience. 😂 I got a weird korean made tent from ebay years ago, and it's been through rain, cold, hot allsorts, and only the zip on the outer bag went last year. Haa!
Hehehe 😎👍 Good luck on your adventures!
Traveled a few places like this especially in city or town 😊
Nice to hear, real city nomad 😎👍
What's the protest?😊
It was mainly against lockdowns but also other issues where people didn't feel heard 😎👍
Perfect test. Thanks!

great video man, how did you find alcohol fuel for your stove, was it easy to find along the trail? Also what was the longest food and water carry you had to do on trail?
Hi! I started with my 250 ml alcohol bottle filled and only had to buy refill one time, if I remember correctly. But I did not cook all the time (cold soaking + snacks). "Alcool à brûler" can be found in most larger shops, especially the French ones as it's a common fuel. I bought a 1 liter bottle in Gavarnie and refilled my small bottle. I left the 1 liter bottle in a small hut named Cabane des Aires, right before the challenging climb of Pic de la Géla (part of the Whiteburn route, not the Tom Martens route). You might also find remains in small huts 😎👍 My longest food carry was from Gavarnie to Besurta/Bernasque (part 3 of my videos). It was 100 km (5 days) without resupply, over the hardest and highest terrain of the HRP. Again, this was the Whiteburn route, I think the Tom Martens route enables resupply in Parzan and maybe other places on that section. Hike your own hike 😎👍 Water carry: Once you're really in the mountains, let's say from about Lescun until Pic du Canigou, usually there is plenty of water to be found. Filtering water using a Befree or Sawyer filter is a good idea because of cattle. I lost my filter halfway but survived. My water shortage problems occurred in the first week (especially day 2) and the last week. In those parts I recommend having a water carrying capacity of 3 liters and refill it completely when possible. From Lescun until Pic du Canigou I only used one 1,5 liter bottle 😎👍 Thanks for watching and good luck on your future adventures! 😎👍
@@CaptainCamp thanks you for all your advice man this is so helpful!
Nice to hear, you're welcome 😎👍
VERY HELPFUL !!! Thanks. I've just got my first bivy bag after starting with a small 2 person tent, down to a lightweight cycling ten, now to try a bivy bag. I'm so excited and after watching your video I feel more confident I can do this 😊 thanks again
😎👍
Sorry to say this but my 4.05 ounce Dyneema floorless tent is 4 ft X 8.5 ft X 3.5 ft high, sits in the palm of my hand or pocket, all glue construction, waterproof zippered entry/exit, waterproof zippered vent with mosquito netting and hood. It has a 300 test pound loop at the peak for hanging it by 8 or more methods plus using a tree limb or other pole like support. Your body will suffer from lack of sleep during wind, cold wind, rain, snow and sleet falling and sweeping across the bivy bag lacking clearance within for your body with the bag lying upon you.
What brand? 😎👍 This is an old video, I should make part 2. To me it all depends on the situation now which is better.
Sorry that I didn’t state that my 4.05 ounce tent is a DIY. Dyneema is extremely expensive, but I found a way to make tents at reasonable cost owing to the trigonometry method I employ.
Hi, curious about your plans, first two weeks in June may be far too early for Triglav. You can expect lots of snow at higher elevations, and closed huts. Also be careful if you plan to camp wild, this is strictly forbidden. Good luck in any case.
Thank you very much for your comment 😎👍 The Captains have decided to postpone the trip 2 months. There will be an update video next week.
Best of luck! How come you aren't doing the whole Slovenian Mountain Trail?
Thank you! Ain't nobody got time for that 😁

@@5qs849 Thank you! 😎👍
Do you feel at all restricted by the bivy you use at 6'5"? I'm an inch taller than you and had to return my Military Sleep System because it wasn't long enough.
To me it's okay 😎👍 Nowadays I see it as a situational piece of gear. In some situations (steep mountains, stealth camping) it's the best. But other situations (thru-hikes, group trips) a tent is more comfortable 😎👍
Wow extreme lightweight, must be a cyclist lol. I love the cooking kit.
Ah, thank you! Light but complete 😎👍 I ride a bicycle sometimes!
A mylar "space blanket" works well on top of cedar bark around buildings. It keeps the itchy bark off while allowing you to sleep away from the sidewalk and safe next to a building.
👽👍
Good test brother. Been researching canister fuel burning stoves for a while. I'm buying my first one now & it's gonna be a Soto Windmaster for sure.👍🏼
Thank you! Yes, I still think it's great 😎👍
I will use a bivy, inside a tent in my living room to get the hang of it.

You're just not tired. If you're tired, you can sleep any way you want.
