Both were essentially spots that needed to be filled. While Hunting Hound can fuse, it wasted a Normal Summon and required an all monster hand going second and while Reactor can steal games, it required both Geartown and Fortress to still be on the field to OTK on top of multiple Reactors.
Guess hh is a waste of normal, reactor i love this card, but, to use the full power u need some "bricks" like gadget or the ag gadget...i what i see is Konami full focus on golem based strategy
Yeah they could’ve easily used the trap when the opponent had Linkuriboh on field and gotten themselves one of the good otk machines. But it was never activated. I assume to show off this new mid tier card. Going first is the back up plan for Ancient Gear. When your opponent makes you go first. Should never be priority to go first. I run Regulus in my build because it’s just generically better and can come in handy anytime and I’m gonna keep it that way. Swap Regulus for this? No thank you.

I wonder why so many duelist have cut Reactor dragon and hunting hound. I always include them in my ancient gear builds.

not necessarily. it just improved the first turn game and gave much more power to the second turn.
