I just want to add one thing. If you are in basic training, ask your drill sergeant in advance if you can wear a silk scarf/bonnet to bed. I went to basic back in 2017 and fortunately I had a black female drill sergeant who understood why we needed it and educated the other DS on them until one night a DS (non-POC) from a different company came during fire guard and smoke us around 2am for wearing them. She and my DS got into a heated argument regarding regulation but in the end we were told we were fine to continue wearing them. Just putting that out there so that no one suffers like My edges did🙃
Would this work for white people too? I have very fluffy hair that is relatively short and I’ve not been able to find any other tutorials with fluffy hair into tight military buns .

As long as you have a good bristle brush and the right smoothing products such as gel, mousse, etc you'll be fine 🤍
When you wear the bun to bed, doesnt it interfere with comfort while sleeping? Like can you even lay on your back?
You can undo the bun when you sleep
