Awesome review man. I loved the voice of the mad scientist in the cartoons. That green monster you called Plankton is actually a bacteria called Gulpo, King of the Blobs and he's addicted to smoking cigars.
I've played the game on Game Boy Advance and loved it. From what I gather, you get "top-up" potions every five cat's heads you collect and an upgrade every ten and if you get hit while you're upgraded, you simply drop back a level, but if you get hit while you're just a walking cat, you lose a life. You also lose a life if you fall into water or into a pit or if you run out of time, regardless of what stage of upgrade you're at
It be three week already. Finally, you review something about it. Anyway, I don't blame you for so much delay. By the way, this is one of my favourite show during my childhood. However, the game does not.
The icons are mandatory in the space stage because you need to keep your magic level up, or else you'll die! Also, the level is tough because it's a one hit death!
Man I've missed your walkthroughs Ken, and really been wanting to see someone cover Felix the Cat for years!!! I'm also really impressed as it's one of the few NES platform games that properly scrolls in eight directions! Could you ever look at James Bond Jr on the NES some time too? Criminally overlooked game!
Dont know if you guys gives a shit but if you're bored like me atm then you can stream pretty much all the latest series on instaflixxer. Have been binge watching with my brother these days =)
This seems like a surprisingly fleshed out game for a character of such dubious notability as Felix the cat. I never really liked the character, but my experiences are limited to the 90s cartoon series.
There was one thing you didn't mention: There are icons of the Professor's face scattered throughout the levels. There are some that you can actually hit a number of times and they can spit out the magic ball.
I bought this game at a thrift store for $1 back in '13. It's one of my favorite action games but a few of the levels can get really tough! This game was also developed by the same company who made Bonk's Adventure.
I remember the Felix the cat movie saw it when I was nine in 1993 rented it on VHS from my library remember this NES game as well rented from a video store in riverside ri when I was nine in 1993
amazing review and walkthrough as always Aqua. i never heard of, saw, or played this as a kid so i'm guessing its one of those rare obscure titles in the nes library.. shame too cause by the looks of it i would have loved the game.
One of the most overlooked NES games, it's definitely one of the most fun games to play on the NES. Basically a complete rip off of Mario, the game pulls it off well.
I watch reviews on games I'd never play myself. In some cases the reviews are better than the game. That's a compliment to Aqualung more than an insult to the games btw.
I still smile huge when you put up a new video. You're still one of my favorites.
This looks like a game I would really have enjoyed. I was a pretty Felix fan when I was a kid, and the game looks pretty good.

This NES game from Hudson Soft was actually done by an obscure company called Shimada Kikaku.
Still one of my favorite NES games.
cool, this was apparently a better game than most of those games based on cartoons are

Good stuff, Aqualung. Never saw much about this game before. Good upload.

If I remember the cartoon... felix's house IS the bag, thus why he is in his house for each cut scene
Then the cut scenes still messed up, because when he's in his house, you can still see him summoning his bag.

@Draven Marley Yea, have been watching on InstaFlixxer for since november myself :)
At 24:35 I realized thats the 1st time ive seen the professor open his mouth. When he talks his mushtash is just moving.
The evil professor is really Wilford Brimley from Liberty Medical.

Hey Aqualung! I can't tell you how happy I am to see you making these longer videos. They are all amazing and I hope you don't quit! Rock on man!
The felix the cat movie would have been TEN times better if it were based off of this game!

I have this game! I never got past that flying garbage can boss thingy.

I love this game!

Whenever I played World 2-1, I just had Felix fly over everything in the level. I cheated.
I have this game and play it on an old Sony Trinitron and up until now I never realized how crappy it looks on newer tv.s
whats the intro song?
"Aqualung" by Jethro Tull
why do people who talk about the history of Felix the Cat always neglect the 90s cartoon series? it was an acid trip of fun.
When Is your next review coming out?
