I would like limited releases if we had a chance to buy them in Europe. With these exclusives they are pushing us European collectors out of the hobby 🤦♂️ 👎
I live in Europe and I actually got one. I guess I got lucky that I was one of the first people in line at Sideshow.
As a European, customs fees tend to get on my nerves. Why do we always pull the shorter...
@@Luis_719 happy for you but my point was that we should be able to buy exclusives here in Europe without having to worry about import taxes and shipping. 🤷🏼
@@MarcAttackfr, the import tax feels like a fucking human rights violation
ToysBuyingAgent always has limited releases, and it is good for the European buyers. If you don’t get a figure, it’s because you don’t know where from to get it.
"This is where the fun begins"
A better system for a company like Sideshow could perhaps involve rewarding loyal customers. So an early access preorder page for customers with the most previous purchases? Maybe? I mean that would suck for me because I only have a handful of previous Sideshow orders 😅 But for Star Wars fans that *always* shop at Sideshow, they may appreciate having early access rather than potentially offering it up to accounts that have just been set up purely to enter the lottery system to then flip the figure. Nice choice of watch btw 👌🏻
Get to the Chopper!!
I think that’s a good idea. That way they know how many to make and they’re already pay for and they should be limited to one person. I had it in my cart and by the time that I hit buy now which was a few milliseconds it was gone so that sucks.
"I have a bad feeling about this."
Limited Editions are cool. ... until you don't get one.
Lottery systems are LAME. It really should be first come first serve.
I felt Sideshow did an awful job communicating when they were going to open the window for orders.
The restricted time window is something Mondo does with their releases. Some of their time windows range from 3 days, 5 days, 1 week or 2 weeks. For a very limited figure I can see it working well for a 1 day PO window. Popcultcha does first come first serve and is tracked with a digital line queue which to your point works better or at least is more fair. There are definitely other options out there which HT/SS can employ. If we're going the limited route then the pieces should definitely be numbered. At this point the HT limited edition runs are half-assed with super limited quantities, SS random queue system and no numbered pieces. Having numbered limited editions with a very small PO window (minimum - couple of hours / maximum - 1 day) could help resolve these gripes many collectors have.
“No amount of money ever bought a second of time”
The watch dog solution only works if theyve not already set a number of units. In hot toys case theyre deciding how many theyre making/selling ahead of time, IE the Umbra trooper they had already made 1500 units so they could only sell that many, which means the "pre-order window" isnt going to work. For limited things how Hot Toys does them, where theyve determined a number of units beforehand, a lottery/random-queue system is kind of the best option to make it "fair" and give everyone a shot. First come first served has issues, every "limited" thing that operates on a first-come-first serve in the age of ecommerce gets taken over by purchasing bots and EVERYTHING ends up on secondary/resellers rather than just some. Nothing turns grown men into pissy little preteens like missing out on some shiny exclusives. People just need to understand beforehand that theres a chance they wont get one, and if you miss out through the queue/lottery system then make a choice, either you have to have it and pay secondary or you dont think its worth secondary and you move on with your life.
you see in this world there's two kinds of people my friend. Those with loaded guns, and those who dig. You dig.

I have too many fave movie quotes. But my God do I love both Coen Bros Raising Arizona and Guy Ritchie''s Snatch for two of the most quotable flicks of all time! Here are some classic ones for movie fans (as opposed to collecting fans I guess): "Forget it Jake, it's Chinatown", "Play it Sam", "Rosebud", "I'm gonna make him an offer he can't refuse", "Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn", "Fasten your seatbelts, it's gonna be a bumpy night", "We're not in Kansas any more", "You talking to me?", "May the force be with you", "Well, nobody's perfect", "I want my $200!", "I'll be back", "Su-per-man", "Stella!", "Plastics", "Attica!", "Why do you fight?" "Because I can't sing or dance", "I'm walkin here!", "They're here!", "Open the pod bay doors Hal", aaaand so on...
Hey Jedha!! Lucky enough I got the Umbria Trooper...should ship soon..can't wait...I like ur idea of opening x amount of hours..fav quote " enough with the negative waves Moriority"
I'm a big fan of a restricted time frame for limited edition. Set an hour or day parameter for ordering, like your watch company. When that short window expires then time is up.
Not only would it work with general releases, it would actually work better because regardless of how many orders they get, they still would take a year or more to produce it.
These hot drops for figures they already produced is just going to drive the market away. Only so many loses a collector is going to stomach. They are “COLLECTORS” after all. What’s the point of collecting if you can’t build the collection?
Ex: See Gentle Giant SW bust.
"Uh, my name is Johnny Wish-Wishbone. Johnny Wishbone. And I am a psychic from the island of St. Croix. Yes, I am psychic from the island of St. Croix."
Back in 2013 I got the Iron Man battle damaged MK VII, your favourite Californian seller had allocated 25 for the whole of Europe, so I was fortunate that I had the disposable income to get it at the time. In all honesty I prefer the limited time window, that way everybody as an equal chance! Movie quote "on a f***ing Suzuki" or "you're only supposed to blow the bloody doors off".
As a follow-up / the window only works for preorders. The challenge with an ordering window is that the manufacturer cannot make the supply of their limited editions in advance. HT doesn’t do these to create another type of preorder. HT limited editions are IMMEDIATELY available. Your watches and my Jazzinc example are not. So if HT is making these to avoid retooling a production factory line? Or to guarantee that a really expensive item (that many folks already have a version of sells out)? A preorder limited window defeats the purpose.
the problem is simple... TOO MANY IRON MAN AND SPIDERMAN FIGURES.
I like how this dude likes to speak for us and say something nutlesss like "You can't buy everything/you can't have everything" as if that should make limited editions acceptable to everyone. Influencers, am I right?
I like limited edition, however i never get to catch one!!! The watch company has a good method of doing it. I wanted Artisan Anakin Skywalker, unfortunately the day Sideshow put him up buy I had a surgical procedure so I missed a chance! I wanted one really bad I thought about getting one from a china vender even if I had to pay a bit more but I’ve had a bad experience with one that I’m staying away from them. Bad meaning I paid and never received item! I’ve written to them and keep getting excuses! I feel I’ll never see figure or money!
I 100% agree, while I frustrated and didn’t get one from the lottery system I realized that this was a figured that if I wanted that bad I’d have to play double for, so I did. I do think the watch system would be better. Cheers, can’t wait for your review on him.
I'm very sad that I couldn't buy this. I really like arc troopers. like many of us I think. for many this is very frustrating. I'm from belgium and it's not easy to always get everything the window idea seems great to me. 👌
Timed pre order window seems to be the most sensible way to deal with the current limited edition issue. Edition sizes would possibly be larger than what Hot Toys are offering now but still likely smaller than regular releases. And, by the way, does it even matter when none are actually numbered? Finally, such process would likely deter lots of flippers/scalpers to enter the game as fewer collectors actually wanting to add a figure to their collection would miss out.
Pretty sure Mondo does a 10-day window for their releases. That way, odds are that your payday will fall at some point in that window. - "My hypocrisy knows no bounds"
“Your focus determines your reality.” I try not to get caught up in the frenzy when a limited edition figure comes out. If I’m really interested, if it’s a must-have character, I’ll watch for it in the after-market. Sometimes the price will drop after the hype, like it did for Arena Fett.
Unless you live in BFE the Boba Fett Arena figure was never hard to get.

The crow excellent film 👍
Don’t like limited edition. I just want to spend my money and if a company does not want my money I will just go elsewhere. Simple.
@@Pachinosin Is this in response to The Crow?
I got mine, just opened it 20 minutes ago. I truly love this figure, and I know if I didnt get my hands on one, id do my best to make myself feel like its awful so I don’t get jealous.
“Utah! Get me 2”
Fantastic! Point Break
limited pieces should be like made to order and pieces are to be determined by the commited pre orders, 50 down no cancelation garanteed to recieve yours. lol along these ballparks

I like limited edition releases. It’s tricky at times to obtain them. I’ve started rethinking my collection. I recently had to sell a majority of it.
" I came here to chew bubble gum and kick ass....and I'm all outta bubble gum.."
I think it’s a awesome limited fig way of doing it I try for mcfarlane toys figs all the time on limited runs and always have gotten beat always thought have a window of opening so everyone that may not be able to hop on right at the time of launch to get a shot at it I like this plan a lot 🤙
It’s not the years, it’s the mileage. 😊 I’ve no idea how to fix this limited release issue, luckily I’ve been able to get what I want other ways. I do hate the whole waiting on the random tweet to know when to turn in to queue but it works better than trying to battle the inadequate shopping cart crashes. (Stealth suit endgame Cap comes to mind and that fiasco). In the doll world there are the same issues, lotteries and wait lists. Luckily with Hot Toys the last figure I really wanted was that rooted hair Scarlet Witch and I’ve had to settle with the molded hair version. Managed to get Cap from Hong Kong for a semi reasonable price.
"Always on the move."
Interesting choice for favourite movie line! Especially from SW!
Ordered mine last night. Definitely helps when you know people.
As a fellow watch nerd, I’d be interested in your watch reviews..
That’s what Weta workshop does with their lenited edition pieces. Better than this strange lottery.
I'm here to kick ass and chew bubble gum, and i'm all out of bubble gum
1917 possibly my favourite war movie there is
Get a Submariner or a Seamaster. I think it fits your personality
I think limited edition figures suck ass. The only people that like them are people that are in this hobby for the money, not for the love of characters. If everybody had access to all the figures of the characters they enjoyed, the Hobby would be a lot less toxic too. A long time ago I asked myself "if everybody in the world had this figure or this toy, would I still enjoy it just as much?" You'd have to be a really shallow douche if you say no - it just means you like lording over others, or at best, need validation from owning junk to feel self worth.
Limited editions do suck ass and the tards in here should be using this forumn to agree instead theyre talking about watches and everything else. Ban limited editions, period. Yes, something is wrong with those that want to lord over people. Look at people in the highest government positions or those that rule them. They're some of society's sickest fuchs. The only validation I enjoys collection wise is someone seeing my collection and enjoy looking at it especially those that have no interest collecting such things. I'm not showing off, I just really enjoy people enjoying it. It's great when someone comes over by chance and probably never will again like my neighbors priest happened to see my collection in my rooms while was was going to use the bathroom. He asked me about it so I turned the lights on and he took a look around. He had fun and enjoyed it. He remarked about the great detail everything had. I did rib him telling him it didnt mean I worship false gods, except wonder woman but she's a godess. Peace bro.
Can hot toys please hire you new ceo! That would work!
I dislike them because I never know about them until it is too late. I would have loved an artisan anakin but never even knew about it until it was over. I am subscribed to Sideshow email but never got anything about it.
I'm subsrcibed to Sideshow also and they never e-mail or notify me about preorders going up. I missed out on all the exclusives and artisans. Meanwhile they send me 2 -3 emails a day about their sorry assed sales on crap I don't collect. Why are they sucking in that way?

I know several of the art sites(Mondo,Bottleneck Gallery) have timed releases on occasion. I love it when they do that. For Hot Toys I’d say do a basic figure for the timed and save the deluxe version for the random queue folks. I was randomly put 4601 for the Umbra trooper. Never had a chance.

Rocky 4. Ivan Drago!
I don’t mind limited release my problem for this one was how quick it was announced then went up. By the time I realized it was going up for pre order it was too late. I would appreciate a little more transparency next time. I mean I can’t complain I was blessed to get the Peter 2.0 and artisan Anakin. I do think it’s better to make thinks like the umbera trooper limited rather than the main suit from Spider-Man 2 and a beloved and iconic look in episode 3 Anakin exclusive and not offer a sculpted hair piece like they did joker
The queue option sucks if you ask me. I’m all for doing timed releases. Give us a window of time to be able to pre-order and cut it off afterwards. It would make things much less of a hassle and releases would still be limited by the number of orders received.

I think it's good to have limited edition collectable items.
It keeps collectors interested. And keeps collectors on the chase!
I too, am a watch collector!
That hobby is an endless monster in itself.
I enjoy the tears of the peons who missed out.
and we enjoy the size of our collections compared to yours. "Let's face it. Youre a neo maxi zoom dweebie."
I like the first come first serve idea but you HAVE to make sure your servers can handle the expected traffic.
"have you paid your dues Jack? Yes sir the check is in the mail ..... "
I got a Studio Under dog watch on first release. Great watch and great guys.
To be fair hot toys did do a preorder window for the special edition Kenobi Vader and special edition Kenobi obiwan
No a limited edition run it’s crazy it should be a limited on how many you can buy.

I was bummed because it released while I was working so i had no choice in getting it or not. That sucks.
I hear ya. I like collecting but there is very little to any chance I would take a 1/2 or full day off just to sit and wait for a PO to drop.
The problem with the Artisan setup is when someone is waiting for the window to open, gets in with a high line number like 150, gets to the order screen, then gets booted out to try and get back in line. That’s what happened with me on the Wanda run. I should have, by all rights, gotten that figure through Sideshow. But their system frazzled and I got screwed out of the only Artisan I wanted at the time. I wanna get this upcoming Jack Sparrow…I don’t want to deal with the pain in the ass of trying to get him though.
Toy Wonderland is the answer for you.
LOL will be the coldest day on the hottest circle of Hell before The Devil's Workshop is the answer to anything.
I still don't get why Crosshair's batch was so small. I was never able to get a copy.
Lets be honest. How may people actually PO'd Crosshair? Noone was for sure that the line was going to be completed. Looked like a cool fig but seemed to be a reg release that you can wait for release to cop. I don't think ANYONE saw it becoming the chase figure it is now. And I think one of the main reasons alot of people want the fig now is because it is hard to find at close to retail, and not cause they really are into the Bad Batch. if they were into the Bad Batch they would of PO'd. On top of that you can still get an Echo or Hunter for retail or possibly lower.

Do you still need a Cross hairs? I have a local comic shop that probably still has them.I'm in Ohio. He doesn't have an online store but maybe he'd make an auction for you to BUY IT NOW or you pay for it by phone with your credit card and he'll ship it to ya.? Let me know. I'll give you his store info, phone or whatever.
