I’m so sorry to hear this Claudia - it sounds absolutely awful. As an autistic person, I really relate to the thing you said about awful smells being traumatic. I really hope it isn’t long Covid.
It doesn't sound pathetic at all, especially as people who were already so sensitive to smells and sensory issues. I'm super sad so many people are suffering from things probably related to long covid. Love you bunches. Sending you love and vibes for quick healing.
Am so sorry to hear this Claudia. It’s awful. I want to assure this condition will go away. A friend lost smell and taste and in order for him to enjoy food, he had to use too much salt. I don’t encourage this. Please take of yourself. We shall keep you in prayer🙏.
Parosmia really, really sucks and I pray it gets better for you soon. I didn't have it as bad as what you describe, and recovered relatively quickly, but it was still a terrible experience. Once you're able to, I'd recommend putting together a set of fragrances you're really familiar with, like lemon, rosemary, etc. and smelling them regularly (at least daily). It helps the brain "realign" the sense of smell back to normal (and currently seems to be the therapy with the most scientific evidence behind it).
I'm so sorry you're going through this. I would absolutely be losing my mind. It's really not healthy to compare what you're going through to other people because: (1) it turns other people into insperation p*rn, and (2) you're allowed to feel like garbage even if someone else has it "worse" (we're all individuals and deal with things differently). Idk if you're religious, but I'll say a prayer for you (some study said when people KNOW they're being prayed for it can actually help, so you can take that from the science angle or the religious angle, doesn't matter, just hope it works for you). I really hope you can go back to "normal" soon
I know how you are feeling Claudia - I had Glandular Fever and the Covid within a few months back in 2021 and my health hasn’t been the same. I’m struggling with Chronic Fatigue which could have been caused by either illness or autoimmune issues which I have since developed. It’s hard because not everyone believes you and think you are making it up, or that it’s depression (which it is not). Not all western doctors know how to help you (I’ve been gaslit by a rheumatologist) and my GP told me when I told him I was going to see a naturopath to make sure they didn’t take advantage of me. If you are not satisfied with anything please get a second opinion. If you have access and funds please consider seeing an integrative GP. It’s only since I started seeing one a couple of months ago that I’m starting to feel improvement. There are also some great free websites, RUclips channels and resources for people with Long Covid.
Claudia - one thing I forgot to add is anyone with Long Covid needs to reduce stress and anxiety. It’s hard but restricting time on social media by what you watch or read (and how much) is important.
Get well soon Claudia i got covid last january i was put in ICU in the hosputal for 4 days and later move to medical ward and teraphy ward its really awful i knew how you feel its a terrible and worst feeling i work here in hongkong and you take good care of yourself and hoping that youll get better soon stay safe always and God be with you always
Also big relate to the smell thing - I was the same when I was younger re. being incredibly distressed by bad smells & yup, got diagnosed with autism at 14 lol
I know someone that had something similar following Covid- it lasted a couple of weeks and then went away.( she had a few things that tasted normal and those were the only things that she could tolerate) Luckily made a full recovery.❤
It sounds absolutely horrible. I hope it somehow gets better. I also have sensitivities with smells and tastes and I can only imagine how I'd feel if this happened to me. I know it'd be a struggle for me. So I hope things will get better for you soon. Sending you lots of love and healing energy
Am sorry to see you not looking yourself and hear the trauma you are going through. But glad you have sort medical help. Praying for a speedy recovery. I miss your podcast but also fine then gut renching at times.
About a year ago I got sick and I think it was covid even though I didn’t test positive. One of my symptoms was I lost my sense of taste and smell but I too constantly smelled this weird burnt odor. Burnt is the only way I would know how to describe it. Anyway I did recover and have gotten my sense of taste and smell back. Hang in there Claudia you can get through this! ❤
Sounds horrible, i hope it passes soon and you get an explanation as to why. Other than that, good luck with your autism assessment! Im autistic and ive always found you very relatable (especially your passionate opinionated fandom and political views) so I would be unsurprised by you getting a diagnosis. I would equally be unsurprised by you not getting a diagnosis tho since women are frequently discriminated against when it comes to autism diagnoses. So, as i said, best of luck!!
When my husband had the Covid and a few other people we know also had these symptoms - the strong smoke smell but could not smell anything else and food he ate for the sake of eating, everything was just bland/ no taste at all to him. Take care and get well soon.
You are a strong and brave woman and you are also one of my guides. I pray very very much that the prescription your doctor has given you works. All around the UK and further afield there are people praying for you. I am giving you a big hug through the internet and saying please God make Claudia your wonderful servant better.
First please know that you are not alone in this journey ! My thoughts and prayers are with you and hoping you will feel better ! I found your channel when I lost my brother to a massive heart attack ! Watching your channel gave hope for a future , I thank you for that ! You are and incredible young woman who has touch so many people lives in such a positive way ! Please that you are not alone ! Am praying to the blessed mother Mary for you , don't give up ! Much love ❤
I had parosmia and euosmia a week after I recovered from 100% recovered from covid. It did eventually go away, maybe a week or two later. Sometimes nasty burning chemicals or a nice burning wood. I still have issues not related to parosmia from covid, but they're quite manageable at this point.
Claudia, my prayers are with you. I pray God's hands upon you throughout this difficult time . Trust God for your healing and continue to pray. I'm not a doctor but please try the natural remedies like garlic, ginger, tumeric, lemon mixed together to build up your immune system. Love you loads. Blessings 🙏🏽🙏🏽💞
This might be the most random advice but it worked for me, start exercising. Go for a jog/run, start with 20 minutes. Slowly take it upwards if possible. You will build your lung and mental endurance. Start today and see what the difference it makes.
Sorry you are feeling so bad and discouraged. The human body is such a wonderfully complex entity that does so much for us but can be hard to deal with when things happen we still don’t understand. Hopefully you will be well soon.
That sounds like pregnancy! But maybe not, i experienced something like that and I found out I was pregnant. I hope things improve and your will return to complete heath❤
I was going to say that’s exactly how my pregnancies were, just awful accompanied by a lot of throwing up. It was so bad with my first one that I was allowed to have the baby at 37 weeks because we were both starving.
I plead the blood 🩸 of Jesus Christ over you Claudia. Be free from the gripe of every illnesses and receive the mercies of God to restore you from the crown of your head to the soles of your feet in Christ Jesus name. Sending you love, strength, peace, prayers and many blessings ❤❤❤❤
No need to apologise. It must be awful. It’s a basic function we take for granted. I’m sure it would affect anyone’s mood and mental heath. Wishing you the very best.
Try holding 1, 2, or 3 whole fresh cloves in your mouth 24/7. Cloves fight bacterial, viral and fungal infections. Put them between your gum and your cheek so they don't overwhelm you. Hopefully you can tolerate them and they help. Garlic is another natural thing that fights all 3.
Okay, so Claudia has: borderline personality disorder, anxiety and depression, emetaphobia, adhd, autism, long covid and now she is probably suffering with parosmia. Claudia, I don't doubt you're having a hard time, but you really need to woman-up and get on with your life and not let these things stop you. When you are older and genuninely unable to pursue your interests you will feel an intense amount of regret. Life is passing you by; be brave, take some risks, accept the possibitly of social humiliation, and the feeling that people will undermine the way that you want to see yourself, because they definitely will, and go for it. You will discover that you can deal with more than you think you can. You could turn your life around in less than two years. You seemed happy and like you were making progress when you were part of the church group, and after you completed your masters degree, but since then you have just slumped again. There is a version of you that is happy and functioning. I've seen it. Try going to the gym, or taking-up a martial art, or joining a woman's football team, or going to a meet-up group, or something that will push you out of your comfort zone; just don't spend your time at home watching videos about the war in Gaza. You are inventing one exuce after another to avoid the things you find frightening.
