For 15 years, Tad (real name) started his dancing from high school, and currently works at On One Studios, as a dance mentor and digital marketer. Later in 2015, he was later recruited into a professional dance company called, The Company (@companyfam), where he continued to gain more knowledge about dance in the intricacies and qualities of movement. Tad has also partaken in choreography submission projects to work for K-Pop artists such as iKON, WINNER, SF9, and Stray Kidz under the direction of Pat Cruz, Larkin Poynton, and Alo Galedo.
Through the introduction of Wonder Girls, Big Bang, and SNSD, he started his K-Pop journey by learning the Hallyu history, understanding the idol creation process, and studying its globally trending presence for the past decade. With the wisdom he's accumulated, Tad aspires to continue learning, to share his worlds from Dance & K-Pop, and to help & lead others to be at their best.

What's more amazing about NCT Dream is they didn't need any stage experience to nail that hoverboard performance. They're already excellent since their debut. Plus, SM also released some hoverboard freestyle clips which showed how they dance gracefully with hoverboards. :)
That's pretty tight. I personally never rode a hoverboard THAT gracefully, so this particular song makes me want to buy one and do fun stuff with it haha.
Yeah, Korean kids can relate to that lol because hoverboard dancing became a hot topic after watching the Dreamies perform Chewing Gum and they kept asking their moms to buy one for them. XD
The dreamies are literally pros when it comes to hoverboard. They could even do tricks on it like handstand and stuffs.
nana and jeno are so comfortable on hoverboards. lifting one leg was nothing for them. they do handstands and everything on them lmao.
Fact: the Daegal version is just as adorable :)

Adorable kids for sure in this MV (14 to 17 years old at this point and the third debut for Mark in less than 6 months). When you watch them dance together as Rookies, say when they danced their version of Growl (in front of EXO no less) it's truly like looking at babies.
For me, Dream is one of the most consistent and cohesive units I've seen. They work together like one body (almost one mind when you see them together sometimes). I suppose that happens when you grow up together and dance together almost every day for as much as 8-9 years... They have evolved sooooo much which is not surprising considering they have all become adults over the 5 years.
I agree with that through personal experience. When you start dancing together, you'll grow together. Especially when you are training in the same environment. Eventually you'll reach a mutual understanding and direction in how movement mechanic works, going through the process of cleaning a piece, etc. So these boys here are pretty much the "unit" like you said here, haha.
Yeah it seemed like a crazy idea to give the Dreamies hoverboards for their debut performance. But they pulled it off well. They all can do crazy tricks on it. Some of them even do handstands on them.
i know this comment is kinda late but someone mentioned before that nct dream was supposed to debut after nct u's the 7th sense. they already have a dance choreography without the hoverboards. however, lee soo man suddenly had this idea to make them dance in hoverboards. so for months, they've practiced riding and dancing on it and now it became as one of the most iconic debuts in kpop.
also, since chenle joined sm in 2016 and only had months to prepare before debut, he practiced as hard as he can to keep up with the members' dancing (he already had a background and career in singing predebut). i can say all chenle's hard work paid off bcs he did a pretty good job back then (and he became the biggest attractor of mom fans during that era).

The one that lifted his leg while on the hoverboard is Jaemin. He's very good at sports I'd say, he picks up everything very fast, he loved P.E at school. He was a nationally ranked speed skater in elementary school and did ballet for 1 or 2 years so I guess that's where his insane balance comes from!
I was always so scared for those babies when they performed Chewing Gum live on music shows, just the thought of them falling down from those boards, ugh! It was scary. But I love the song so much. And yeah, they are very young, Mark as their leader is a 99' liner, Renjun, Jeno, Jaemin and Haechan are 00's, Chenle is 01 and their youngest - Jisung is 02, he's the youngest in NCT and also became an adult just this year in Korea. Most of them trained for a few years together, Jisung was like 10 or 11 when he became a trainee. It's insane how young they are, but their music is great, just what you'd expect from NCT really.
There's also a fourth unit to NCT - WayV. It's the Chinese subunit. And boi, will you see a difference jumping from Chewing Gum to the dirty choreos that WayV has haha
I thought they didn't have a leader Antonia since Mark left, even after he came back into the unit. I thought they decided not to have a leader?
@@RosedVDawson Ehh, yeah that's true, but most people still think of him as the leader even though he's officially not. weird world 🤷♀️ you can watch the diaries, see how Mark was enjoying working on songs in the studio and everyone always went to him for advice
You know you're old when you start seeing 0's instead of 9's in their "year" lines. And we'll get to WayV! We're just finishing up 2016 NCT, so I got quite a way to go, lol.

9:16 Jaemin, who had one leg up on the hover board is actually good at it. During their NCT WORLD 2.0 Show, he was asked to mimic a figure skater using hoverboard. He's amazing

What I find crazy is that this is the same Mark in The 7th Sense and Firetruck. Dude can play any role.
Imo Dream have the cleanest dance and dance choreos in NCT, they are truly amazing. Can’t wait to see your reaction on My First and Last when you’ll get to it

Now, Jisung (the one with the curly hair) was only 14 when they made their debut and Chenle the second youngest only had a training period of 2 or 3 months. The boys said that they already learned the choreography but then one day Lee Soo Man just came in and said: "hey guys!! let's try dancing with hoverboards" so they had to re-learn the whole thing but with the hoverboards and now after 4 years they can do all sorts of tricks on those things like handstands.
This is one of my favorite choreos but I think my favorite one is My First and Last but I also We Young and 1,2,3. I would also love it if you can react to the choreos for awards shows like the Seoul Music Awards or the Gaon Music Awards they also have dance practices for these.
The dreamies are so pro at riding that hoverboard that they said it is more comfortable, less tiring and easy to dance using it. Also, the dreamies have this member named JENO whom they proclaim as the most excellent rider of hoverboard in Korea (maybe).
However, during their debut days, some of them are traumatised, like they don't want to dance anymore because of the hoverboards (many accidents happen during rehearsals/behinds that's why they are afraid it might happen in live shows but according to them, thankfully and luckily those accidents only happened behind the scene)
But them DEBUTING using Hoverboards, is ICONIC and something I'm super proud of!

It’s nice to see people appreciating NCT Dream’s talent in hoverboarding 🥺 Also just wondering, did you miss the choreo at the back during 9:50 ? That was one hell of a stunt on a hover board. Super impressive. I felt like you would have talked about it if you’d noticed it so I just wanted to ask.

NCT dream always have difficult choreo.
The fact that some new groups look them as their seniors but they have almost the same age or above 😅. It's kinda awkward for me whenever I saw vid of some groups ang calling NCT dream as sunbae😁.

May I suggest watching My first and last and Boom by NCT Dream as well. The floor work in my first and last is *chef’s kiss*
Dream are really good at doing tricks on the hoverboards so don't think he was too worried about lifting his leg.
Because the Dreamies are young they they pick things up pretty quickly and add to that the skills they already possess I would rank them as NCT's best dance unit.
Regarding the props comment - have you heard of the group Speed? They're now disbanded but they did a choreo on heelys way back. And Miss A had the shower rail thing as a prop while Vixx had the cane in their Vodoo Doll choreo, while a fre girl groups have used chairs - but yeah, props are seldom used.
Yeah, I know people have been telling me about Speed's Heelys stuff, I haven't gotten to it yet. I've seen Miss A's Hush as well if that's what you're talking about along with Voodoo Doll. Both classics!

I just remembered. There was a clip where EXO is watching NCT dream perform Chewing gum and My First and Last live. But i keep on looking at NCT 127 at the back coz they look like a proud mom :)
The other member, Doyoung was even clapping like how my mom claps when she sees me perform when i was young (offbeat clapping)

The Dreamies in general the cleanest unit out of NCT. No shade to the other units, but they all prioritize individuality and their personal interpretation of the choreo compared to Dream. Not saying one is necessarily better than the other. Also in the other units, you have Taeyong and Ten who have their own distinct styles of dance. Maybe its because they are young, but for the most part the Dreamies dance to how the choreo was taught. I also think the fact that they joined the company relatively young (across the members born 1995-2002, the OG 2016 members joined the company around the same time) and had no prior dance experience aside from Jisung. They didn't necessarily get accepted as trainees for their dance skills, and they all learned how to dance from scratch together.

The most iconic debuts are made by NCT
They uploaded some videos playing with those hoverboards and it was crazy! Istg, they were doing the most difficult/dangerous things on them, like a handstand. I recommend you check them out on RUclips or on your own if you want to!
My kids are all adults now. Am crying.
