1:46 - This isn’t a “mirror carp”. This is a White Amur, or Grass Carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella). They are native to Asia including the Amur river (from where the common name “White Amur” comes from. These fish are bought and stocked in the local SRP canals to control weeds (not algae, generally.). You can see them chomp the large patches of floating vegetation in high flow areas where they often congregate in very high numbers. Make sure you always release them as there is a stiff fine from SRP for “destroying” their property. (I know the author of the video releases them this is just for others watching.) Mirror carp (Cyprinus carpio carpio) are a subspecies of the common carp (Cyprinus carpio) that have very large seemingly scattered scales unlike the uniform scale pattern of the common carp. I used to think these were actually just “morphs” of the common but DNA studies shows they are a subspecies. Great fishing BTW! You are right that the mouth is an easy way to distinguish them from the common carp, and no barbels!
C'mon Jeff - hook a brotha up .... where's that spot on the Gila River?? Can you narrow it down to a mile radius and say whether it's East or West of El Mirage Rd? Inquiring minds want to know! 😂😂😂
I really envy fishermen that can sit in one place and wait for fish to bite. I just don't have it in me. I wish I did but, I have to be on the move. I have to go looking for the fish.
good collection. thanks for the extra work to make it
