I always preferred the reverse trapezium grills, the one with the longer side at the top so, like the C Class.
Good to see the SL does not have the stuck on display, that other MBs have these days. Thomas kept his cool with the man walking in front of the camera twice.

"Finally a good looking SL"?! You must have never heard of the 1955 300SL Gullwing, nor the R230 series SL (2003-2012), have you? Those are, to this day, two of the most beautifully designed automobiles. Well, at least in my opinion.
tmat04 I meant only the R231 ;) Sorry for the unspecified comment. Know all the other generations. Those were the golden and silver ages of design.

I agree with you. I'm not sure if I prefer it any better than the R230 SL, though. But Mercedes Benz definitely got the design right again with this one.

Yes I saw the facelift video and in it I thought you mentioned that you would be driving a 2017 SL500. I am interested in your impressions of how it drives.
We had the 400 / 450 (US), it's just V6 vs V8, nothing more. It's the same car and is not really that different

A man's car in the true sense as far as cabriolet's go. The design is now more masculine than ever before with a massive power train under the bonnet and who can forget the pedigree that the SL brand has had for a better part of 60 years...
Why no S class convertible review. I really miss an indepth look at that car. It was just right there behind you. I wonder how it compares to the SL from the feeling when driven.

front is the same as the AMG GT
AMG GT would be a better base for a true SL, and even better with a soft top, to have better style, cause the retractable hard top sacrifice design over function.
There has been a tendency in the industry to go to these gaping, shark like front fascia and grills that makes the cars look almost animated and expressive. Yes, I may even jump onto the sidewalk at the sight of this aberration and overstated design feature, other than that I hope that this becomes a short lived tantrum much as the BMW accentuated trunk, has gone the way of all expressions in extreme.

Please, it's understood you need to hype all new models, but this is an awful looking car, and everyone knows it. Please don't destroy your credibility by hyping obvious design mistake by MB.
