I just wanna say that you’re the best person I’ve ever had the honor to watch, and I’m thankful for your uploads, they’ve helped me through a lot of family problems, so just thank you very much stealth. (And Quinn and your wife)
Stealth - "It's a busy day on the aircraft carrier". Me, having played this on XB360 - "Oh, the party has not yet even begun for carrier ops, my friend."
WW2 pilots didn't have the same resources we do now- enemy plotting cards were the only time they saw anything of the Japanese fleet, so I'll give them a pass at misidentifying the Tone as a BB. What is more concerning is the fact the only escort for the Lex was a single outdated Clemson-class destroyer. You're going up against at least a battleship, I would think the USN would invest a bit more into screening one of their VERY limited capitol ships in the region
yeah that's a Fuso from what I could tell, the way you tell them from the Ise's is that the middle turrets are closer together with no superstructure inbetween
No, you're right. That's the Fuso. Turret layout is the same as the Fuso class- with the funnel separating the 3 fore turrets from the 3 aft turrets. It's also Fuso because of the main tower. Yamashiro's was alot more boxed shape all the way up.
if you want to split hairs, the only "official" picture of IJN Yamato released to the press (and therefore the outside world) was actually of IJN Tone or Chikuma (I cant recall which) just deliberately mislabeled. so in theory its not entirely impossible for rookie pilots to mistake a Tone class cruiser as a BB, assuming ONI used that photo to build their silhouette outline for it. Point being, its entirely possible for a scout plane to misidentify a ship like that.
For some historical context, some things to point out: *The Wildcats in the game are the F4F-3 models. *The Tone was actually sunk on July 28th, 1945 while moored in Kure. *The Fuso along with her sister ship Yamishiro were sunk in October, 1944 during the Battle of Surigao Strait. Fuso was torpedoed by the USS Melvin (DD-680). *It must be noted that the divebombers didn't extend the dive breaks to slow the craft during their dives.
to be fair, that last bit might be because Stealth kept max throttle the whole way through. It's been a while since I played but I think they deploy the airbrakes if you reduce throttle.
well, it has 6 turrets so yes, its either a Fuso or an Ise, the only real difference between the two classes when they were first built was some secondary armament. Then after Midway IIRC, Hyuga and Ise were converted into carrier battleships.
I have relatives in the Luzon Region. One in the Rizal Province and one in Ilocos Norte Province. Memories of the War still remains here in the Philippines.
If I remember correctly you can sink cargo ships with fighters, you just need to attack them from above by shooting their decks. Maybe that’s the second game though, it’s been a while since I played them.
Is there any chance that you will take a look at Aircraft Carrier Survival when it fully launches or earlyer ? ( i don't mean that i am borred of this game )
4:53 It's identifying the Tone as a BB? ... nevermind, they actually incorporated the game's mistake into the narrative. That's... really clever, though I'm not sure how many non-history buffs would have picked up on it ;p
Yeah, I could have immediately told you that no, that’s a CA, not a BB. I’d forgotten about that part of this mission. Yeah, when Stealth said the BB looked like a Fuso, I was puzzled ‘cause I knew Tone was a CA. And then I saw the BB later. Yes, the Fuso is most certainly in the Fuso class, don’t you think? 😂 It’s impressive that Stealth could ID it from a cutscene!
historically the MK14 US torpedo was pretty bad, more duds than strikes. there was very little actual testing of the MK14 due to it being very expensive and not having any ships to test it on.
Mk14 was used primarily by submarines. The planes used the Mk13. Bit of a difference between dropping into the water at speed compared to launching from underwater. It had completely different problems relating to the speed at which it was dropped.
@@juangonzalez9848 I'm pretty sure that I specified that I was talking about just the MK14. and why when using the MK14 he was playing dud roulette, strangely enough, even with the duds he is getting, in reality the early MK14's were much worse.
@@johng.1703 Right, but why bring up the mk14 when they weren’t used by the planes. The mk13 also has severe problems early in the war, just different ones, except for the gyro, all of the gyros were suspect.
@@johng.1703 I don’t think you are understanding what I’m trying to say. I was saying that the us navy did not use mk14 torpedos as aerial torpedos. They didn’t expect an attack, so didn’t waste fuel, basically.
I am actually impress with how well this game looks for the age
I think this is the remake with updated graphics that was released recently
@@urapooper362, Nope.
A trick for the killing destroyers, if you drop a bomb just behind the forward gun you blow the magazines and sink it

one of the few instances in this game in which the ship is actually the correct class and design
Also think it’s a Fuso class because of it’s gun placements.
Wait, so that battleship was 2 kilometers away from the Lexington, and the Lex survived. The hell you say.
Out of ammo maybe ? 😂😅
i mean distances in this game are hilariously downscaled, i guess thats what you get for being extremely arcadey
The longer you took, the more anxious i got.
If you take too long, Lex will turn around and head face first into the Fuso no fucks given.

You can switch planes in squadron if fast you can aim the other planes torps. you can add more planes to squadrons.

so, you kamikazied, in a american aircraft, the yudachi, a japanese destroyer, in 1942, years before the first kamikazis of japan
4:25, Actually the F4F famously didn’t have a VNE. You couldn’t make the thing fall fast enough to break it
08:00 - How unrealistic! Not a single dud xD
Yes, that was a Fuso
EDIT: for some reason it's a Tone-class Cruiser but it's marked as a BB..? Oh I see it's not the actual Battleship.

I am in contact with the publisher but they're not ready to show the game yet. When it's out I'll most likely cover it.
