seems like they're receiving more respect and recognition now than they did in the 80s and 90s. good for them. their musicianship always deserved more respect than it got.
@@atticusfinch3931 no.......they have released more new stuff than almost any 80s metal band an then you got guys like George Lynch collabing. They are incredible musicians wether you like their lyrics or not.
And to think these pseudo-christians used to praise the lord. Common people ask why a "christian" band can't play secular music... they have to taste the love of Jesus Christ for once in their lives in order to understand, if don't every argument is useless.
Their sound does change a bit when they switch between Jackson, Mesa Boogie, and Line 6 equipment. To be fair though, I think much of the muddiness of this recording comes from the Camera being used to tape it. Check out their studio recorded version of this song. Also you should check out this same song by Rachel Rachel. Kerry Livgren even makes an appearance it it!!! :)
Caught them in Lubbock, TX on this tour. I've been to hundreds of concerts and this was one of the most impressive that I've seen. The dual guitar solos and vocal harmonies were spot on.
you should watch Rachel, Rachel play it, they do an awesome job! better then Kansas, in fact the guy who wrote the song, shows up and plays the middle part of his guitar! i forget his name, Kerry i think!
its the cam mic - Line 6's are NOT muddy. In fact Stryper's overall amp sound is VERY mid range in tone. What is overdriving the mic are the bass subs in the club.
@RiteMetal I listened to the clip at :18 many times and opened it in audio editing software to tweak it. I was also concerned when I heard what sounded like the F word, but it wasn't. He actually says the shortened version of What's Up Man..."Sup man?"
they did these out of fespect.so no christen band can ever do a mainstream song.the bible say first take the plank out your eye first befire you point fingers
Zed1967 hey man do not misunderstand me I wasnt angry or something,is just that i dont understand english so well yet, then nothing better than a direct question to know what is the big deal about having those amps(which I havent ever even touched cause theyre expesive as hell here in Brasil, then just our famous artists can buy them)
Ken Havens well then you obviously have no clue of what you are talking about. Because Stryper have NEVER even wanted to be in the same conversation as Petra. Nor should they be. They are two completely different bands with different styles and different peers.
Styper. One. Of. Best. Band. In. The. World

Yeah that's because they're covering other great band songs

Try 'Steve N Seagulls' version from Finland - Brilliant!
It's great to hear Stryper do a cover version of this song by Kansas! Way to go Michael, Robert, Timothy & Oz!
They always did rock hard!! Been a fan since 1987!
Love this song on Supernatural
Great Song and amazin' band, what a guitar solo of Oz Fox!!!

One of my favorite covers! The Trooper is awesome too!
Great version of this masterpiece hard rock classic !
Yep; the best of both worlds, love Kansas too.

f yes!!!! M Sweet is most underrrated guitarist ever!!!!!!
I’ve always been a Kansas fan. Outside of Kansas or John Elefante on his own, this is my next favorite version. Great job guys!

heaviest version of this song ever done!
Really like the tone on the DT amps by line 6. I picked one up and love it. Too bad this video isn't in HD.
Why can't a christian band do a mainstream song? These guys did.
What does Robert say at :18 ?

not sure if its 30.9.11 or 3.09.11
All my spn family here!?
Stryper endorses Line 6 now. It started with Tim Gaines using their bass amps on the first reunion tour a few years ago.
Song from the covering
Awe Fucking Sum!
bass gets no love
I saw Stryper twice back in the 80's live Fresno, CA.... greg boardman band

@69stringibanez Ibanez Destroyer? If you're talking about the guitar Oz is playing, that's a GMW. No Ibanez on stage here
Wow 😳
Interesting arrangement without keyboard... Not sure if I like it or not, but interesting nonetheless...
but there are alot people on here who are judgeing about that.sayin that they have gone back into tge world.itjust dum.
I have a line 6 pod/multieffects petal and it is amazing, and I just got a line 6 viper 4 half stack also very amazing line 6 equipment rules
*** AT == BILL MENCHEN== STUDIO JANICE SWEET MADE A GREAT OZ FOX INTERVIEW WATCH THAT AT TERRE DETORRES SITE
odd observation, but i really like the headstock on the EX guitar
@paul123v1 that's funny because Michael Sweet (lead singer of Stryper) sings with Kansas now!
Always had the best guitars.
The headstock tells me Ibanez.
@respectthemagic A Christian band wouldn't say "fuck" anyway, I suppose.
@RocNyChef52202 Dio sang lead vocals on their tune 'mask of the great deceiver'.
does stryper not play jackson's anymore? disappointing.....
Sounds Awesome,!!Keep Rockin 4 the ROCK!!!!!
Rachel Rachel does an awesome job of this as well! all girl band!
Hot...
i saw a line 6 HD500. what type of fx did Michael use for his sound?

Fairly cheap , Roadworthy , simple.

Pretty sure they ain't the same Cabs and heads that you and I can get.

ESSES CARAS SÃO O PURO ROCK CRISTÃO.
Is that a lado earth?
Line 6 amps? Really?

They're not as bad as they used to be. But still considered a budget brand in my book.
Yeah, budget.
Muito bom! Um dos melhores do cd!!

I've seen around 10 different ways of writing dates, but I've never seen this particular one. Or is it a Nokia model? :)
I think this is a good version!
2:16 what was falling doewn there??! the guitarist self esteem or something?
D-o-w-n
Someone mixed his DNA with Steve Perry.
Why is the drummer facing the wrong way??
VancouverMagic
Oh, but he's facing the RIGHT way!
Thats roberts trademark! It's been like that since the beginning
If Anyone is going to Cover Steve Walsh, You better be good. I actually prefer Anthrax Cover a little better.
A decent cover absolutely but my fav version of this song is by Yngwie Malmsteen
This Is A Kansas Remake.
Dave Cumming duh, it’s a cover. From their coverings album.
Look up "Carry On My Wayward Son" by The Showdown, I think you'll be in for a treat!
Still not GWAR level but none the less a great cover.
This is very good, despite that their believes suck.
Always thought that stryper limited their audience too much by trying to be a heavier version of Petra.
Ken Havens well then you obviously have no clue of what you are talking about. Because Stryper have NEVER even wanted to be in the same conversation as Petra. Nor should they be. They are two completely different bands with different styles and different peers.
@@strutt777 Sweet has actually performed w the lead singer of Petra but I agree they are radically different
