I want to express my gratitude and say thank you! I have been learning and playing this every day for about the last two weeks. I think your detailed explanations are great because the tempo of this song is so quick that playing by ear I find too difficult, and as a beginner that never had any guitar lessons your descriptions and showing of notes are very easy to understand. I do struggle to play in your tempo without hitting a few wrong notes, especially the first two grace notes I find difficult without some grip re-adjustment. Subbed and moving on to part 2 :)
You are so welcome! Thank you for letting me know, it's comments like these that keep me going. I'm so glad that it's helping you navigate what is a VERY tricky song. It'll be a long journey to get it up to tempo but it's so worth it. Hope you enjoy part 2 :-)
Hi Frank, yes my pick is above the G string - so I'm picking with a down stroke. I've since realised that Mark actually plays this all with fingers, but obviously when I made this video there was no live videos or anything so I just had to give it my best guess. Still, hybrid picking is a great skill to get good at!
@@danharemusic Thank you. I also saw it in the Austin City Limits Music Festival 2024 video ;). But it's still a great exercise for me! I was watching that live session to play some parts of Hold me up in the right position, and I saw that he also plays that one with his fingers (thumb and index finger). I saw that he plays 'so we won't forget' with his pink. That's a big challenge haha! Maybe for a next tutorial? :))
Great lesson, but there’s sooo much info you could’ve cut. This should’ve been a 10 minute video at most. We don’t need a breakdown of your attack for every line, we don’t need a breakdown of every specific rhythm in the verse. Just play it through a couple times, tell us what you’re doing, and MOVE ON!!
Hi Josh, thanks for the comment. I think that the length of video(s) was about right. I'd rather not have to put something together that is almost the same length as a feature length film! (When you combine all 3 tutorials' runtime) But I did it because I feel like it'd help everyone as much as possible. The way I see it, it's better to have all the detail. If someone watches and doesn't quite grasp something, there's no "add detail" button. And once they've got whatever it is, they can just skip a bit if they want to. As I said, I appreciate the feedback. A lot of my subscribers have specifically mentioned that they like the detail I offer. You can't please everyone i guess! All the best Dan.
In contrast with the above comment, the extensive attention to detail was the thing that made me appreciate your approach. I didn't just learn a song, I also learned to use my instrument better thanks to you. Thanks!
@@hypnobe13 thanks, man. I really appreciate you saying so. 100%. when you approach learning it in this way, you're not just learning the guitar playing. You're learning and understanding the music of it all. Which in turn makes you a better guitar player.
I hope you know how much we appreciate this
Thanks 🙏 it's these kind of comments that keep me going!

Leaving comment to show gratitude! There is not nearly enough Khruangbin tutorials on youtube
Much appreciated 🙏 I will provide as much quality Khruangbin content as humanly possible.
We appreciate you!

1:42 Do you have the pick above or below the string you are playing? Thank you for all your tutorials and covers. Can’t wait for the next one ;)
It seems above
