    Agree 100%... I got so tired of pulling the neck off to adjust the neck of my Geddy Lee CIJ, I made a jig and routed out the body & pickguard so all I need use is a screwdriver to tweak when needed.

    I used to have a "proper" 1962 USA Precision. It had reverse tuners and clay dots which I see this Reissue doesn't have. Luckily I never had the need to adjust the truss rod. I kept it for about 30 years before selling it--which was my biggest regret. It was by far the best playing and sounding bass I have ever had.

    • @JOHNWLOUCKS
      @JOHNWLOUCKS Год назад

      I had a Fender Precision 1962 vintage re-issure that I bought new in 1991. Never needed any adjustments (well,one little turn the 2nd year) and it always played and sounded great. I sold it 3 years ago and cry when I think about it. The best bass I've ever owned ! What was I thinking ????

    What I find even more crazy than the heel-adjust truss rod is that some people insist they continue manufacturing guitars this way for “vintage appeal”. WTF?

    • @grantkoeller8911
      @grantkoeller8911 2 года назад

      It's no big deal, a truss rod is something you should not mess with. Set it and forget it. If it needs adjustment,then that's life. I have one bass that has perfect action for the last 8 years, and never have touched the truss rod once.

    • @TenFalconsMusic
      @TenFalconsMusic 2 года назад +1

      @Grant Koeller
      I wish that were true for all situations.
      I travel to all parts of the globe and depending on the changing conditions (temps, humidity, altitude) a neck adjustment is almost always needed.
      If a bass/guitar never leaves the safe confines of home... You're good (for the most part).
      But go from London to Los Angeles for a gig and your beloved instrument will be doing a complex yoga pose when you open the case.
      My Music Man Stingray (with roasted maple neck) seems less susceptible, but it's still moved a bit from region to region.

    I got to play a Honest-to-God 59 P-bass for awhile. It was a burst that had been rattle canned black. But the neck was fairly straight and it sounded so sweet I didn't mind the buckle rash on the body or the cigarette burns on the headstock. Sure wish the cute little blonde who owned it hadn't broken up with me!🤣😂🤣

    Really nice looking p bass sounds good too. I have 78 American fender p bass in ebony bought it new in 78. It's mint still because I never played it on stage. Fender should be shot for you having to take neck off to set it. Only had to change my neck once in 45 years. People keep them strung and in tune always and out of the case in your home in nice Temps and you want have to mess with the neck. Thanks dave for the video. I always enjoy

    Many are scared to pop the neck off. I encourage people to not be afraid. Instead I suggest that they read the neck under the usual 440 tension, and then read after the strings have been removed. Take the neck off and give her 1/2 turn and bolt her back up. String it up and simply read it again…and just go from there. It’s not so bad and you gain experience with every bass you do this to.

    You can remove the neck in less than 3 minutes, so no big deal to adjust truss rod. Loosen strings, remove 4 bolts.

  • @davestambaugh7282
    @davestambaugh7282 2 года назад +1

    The bridge saddles on the base can be flat because they only have one string. However on the guitars they hold up two strings. The only way they can be flat is if there is no radius on the fret board like a clasic guitar.

    Took the neck off my brothers P bass, looks like it's a '69. Neck is fine, but I can't see the truss rod... Is this an issue? Shone a torch in there and it's all OK. Hadn't taken it onboard but there's no scratchplate. Doh...

    It looks like the neck is misaligned. The E string has a lot of space to the upper edge, and the G is closer to the lower edge. Is it my impression or there's something wrong with Fender's QC?
