Amazing how far technology has come, I enjoy watching these vintage races as much as I enjoy watching the new boats

I'm an Aussie bring back the 12 Meters. Ted Turner, Tom Blackhall, John Kolius, Denis Conner, maybe James Hardy and John Bertrand? 12 Meters rule !!!!!!

I disagree, I'm 70 yrs old and appreciate the development of the modern AC. 12m are important relics of the AC history timeline.

12 Meters have always ruled! Unless you want to bring back the J Boats.

Well, we could try cloning them, maybe.

Ted was so funny. The current drivers barely talk at all

Mouth of the South , and Captain Bligh were his nicknames. Always talking.
      Old story.
Hood coming into the mark in fog in Halifax, Turner didnt know where the mark was.
So turner starts yelling at Hood, trying to get him to answer and get a sound bearing.
of course Hood and da boys stayed quiet like mice.
Turner went for everything and anything he could get.
(my Dad was navigator for Hood for the race.)

Poor winch grinders were below decks back then!

Is it just me or is the interaction between Ted Turner and Dennis Conner just a little bit awkward like the two of them just did not mesh

Must have been something about that generation of sailors that brought out the petulant child in so many top skippers.

TT and DC did a lot better on their own. They were getting their education during this summer.

Before the after guards made the decisions. Today’s AC the helmsman just drives and doesn’t bark orders.
