I've just bought a pair of them based on my experience with a mk1 pair of handroids i still have after 6 yrs use they may be a bit grubby been used in all summer weather inc odd soaking but have no visible wear stitching etc and the boa system still works perfectly on them wouldn't wear any other gloves now as the fit for me is good and feel very secure along with the scalphoid protection they have very confidence inspiring and comfortable gloves.
I bought them for off-road riding. Most MX gloves are not in the slightest bit protective. I wear them off-road but if I ride on-road (rarely these days), I'd choose something else. I don't trust Clarino to hold up in a slide. The palm sliders will take the impact but maybe other areas could be involved in any sliding. I like them a lot for my usage. I wear them all year round, even in Winter. I especially chose a larger size than I'd normally wear (XXL) so I could fit heated glove liners in them. I ride down to -15C with the liners and for about 30-60 minutes they keep my hands from going numb. I'm okay with the Boa system but I'd be fine with velcro too. If it breaks before the gloves wear out, I'll just sew on typical straps with velcro. The SPS sliders are the best feature, for sure. I own Knox Handroid pods for road riding and I think the 2 sliders are a game changer. I've landed on them sliders many times off road and the extra impact protection is welcome there.
I haven't had an issue with the thumb. I needed all the fingers to be bigger to fit heater glove liners. I can even wear them in summer without liners. There's some stretch in them so they have overall been a good purchase for me.@@neowave777
I really like this glove. My thumb fits perfect, but I’m using XL. I usually wear 10-11 in glove size so the XL is snug but I rather have it snug then a little loose. I really like the boa system aswell. Haven’t been on many rides with them though, but like them alot already ✌️
I dislike Velcro because it’s very noisy and it wears out = flappy straps and flaps that won’t close anymore = have to replace, repair or buy new gear. Noise scares wildlife away for a hundred yards around you. Also, I prefer a longer glove that can be tucked under the sleeves. I love that new ( to me) binding device if it works. Also, you say these gloves are reported to wear out quickly. I want a minimum of a year if they’re cheap or a minimum of two years if new. My walking boots last 2 years maximum, but I don’t mind that, but riding boots and especially gloves should ideally last several years if they’re well made. I love this wire ratchet closure thing, but I’ll wait until they make a tougher, longer lasting gloves.
@@mancavebikes I recently purchased Held Desert 2, which have an amazing fit and feel, and protection is superb. But they suffer a bit from the same issue, at least for me. The miniature gauntlet is a tad too long for some of my jackets. Thats the perils of on line shopping I guess.

yeah spot on, I can imagine they'd be good for Motocross if you can get over the thumb

The same problem when I tried them on. The slider on the palm towards the thumb makes a lot of sharp edge pressure😢
Same had to size up from M to xl because of this

That knob to tighten them makes me worry it would be awkward where it meets the jacket sleeve.
Oh it is very awkward lol only really good if you wear short sleeves

That wide thumb has put me off these. And yeah boa string feels vulnerable. £99 for summer gloves with a couple of oddities is a bit much.
funny thing is my weise leather gloves which also has palm sliders were only £35 new and feel a million times better
Boa is a solid system. Hade Bern using working shoes and boots with it since 2014. Not a single broken string.
